There is a very distinct difference between Being Human and Human Being. The dictionary describes Being human as simply understanding that others are human too. That they have equal rights with you and that you should treat them as you would wish they treat you too.

On the other hand, dictionary.com describes Human Beings as a person, especially as distinguished from other animals or as representing the human species.

From the above explanations on the two words; "Being Human and Human Being", we can now see that there is a big difference between the two. In our topic today, we shall be concentrating more on Being Human.


Being Human deals with our everyday interaction with other humans, the way we talk to them, the way we respond to them, the way we do everything with other similar creations (humans).

One of the important signs of Being Human is the way we treat others and the way you see them. Answer these questions deep within your heart.

A friend of mine, Moses told me a story of his life. The story goes like this; he used to be an armed robber, he started while he was in secondary school. Though he have always wanted to quit, but he just had to do it to provide for his family.

For a very long time he have been
ashamed to tell people, especially his friends that he was into armed robbery. He felt people would judge him for what he was or they would disassociate themselves with him. So, he kept the secret to himself and kept on doing what he was doing.

I met Moses in the Polytechnic where we studied. He was in his HND while i was in my ND class and so we didn't have much time together, but I felt great to know that within our short time together, he was able to open up to me about his pasts and I in turn was able to offer some advice to him.

I told him to go apply for a councilor in the school's youth forum where he can share his pasts to other people who might be having the same trouble. At first, it wasn't easy for him, but after thinking about what I told him, he decided to give it a try. He applied, got a post as a councilor and was given Tuesdays to have his turn to speak.

Instead of feeling ashamed, he was bold enough to tell people and told them to do something meaningful with their lives while they are still young. He started to encourage people, gave advice and offered help to those in need. He said, "I wanted to hide these things of my past, but God has a greater plan to redeem it" because God knew that his story would connect with people, help them turn away from evil through his experience.

So, if you find yourself in similar situation, then these are few ways to turn your mess into a message:

*Face Your Fear: Everyone living being has a past they are not so proud of, everyone has made mistakes and God who is the all knowing Father knows your mistakes too. He would want you to face it, and also to use it to His advantage by sharing it with people to turn their eyes away from such acts.

*Bring God Into The Situation: In the book of John 4:13-14, It is even written there that "Jesus said to her, everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the water that I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life". Ask God to fill you up with His grace.

*Share your experience: After being in a mess for a very long time, Moses, finally opened up to me which led him to open up to hundreds of other people who obviously learnt a thing or two from his experience.

*Team Up With Like-Minded People: Find other like minded people and are willing to share their story with others. Team up with them not only to share your experiences with others, but also to encourage each other.

Other steps you can also take aside from the one's listed above are;

*Pray to God about your situation and relinquish the sins of your past to Him.
*Ask God to give you the grace to take that precious first- step into redemption.
*To share your story, you can start with one person who has understanding of God's words.
*Read God's word; the Holy Bible.

It is appalling to know that many youths do not have a dream. If they do, they don't believe in their dreams due to circumstances surrounding them. Even when many believe, they only keep dreaming without waking up to act.

According to Buddha; "Holding on to anger is like grasping hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the once who gets burned."

So with the above quote, one good thing you can do for yourself is to learn to forgive all those who have offended you intentionally or unintentionally, do this for your own good and for your general well being. Forgiveness might not be an easy thing to do, but it's obviously a beautiful thing when done.

Wikipedia defines Forgiveness as "the intentional and voluntary process by which a person undergoes a change in feeling and attitude regarding an offence, lets go of negative emotions such as vengefulness and grudges with an increased ability to wish the offender well."

It is a shift in thinking towards an offender such that your desire to revenge decreases and your desire to do him/her good increases. Practicing Forgiveness requires opening one's heart just as letting go requires opening one's hand.

For it is even written in the bible in the book of Mattew 6: 14-15 that "for if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, God in heaven will not forgive you."

So, in our discussion today, we shall be looking at few things we stand to gain when we forgive those who may have offended us.


REDUCTION OF STRESS.
When we forgive, we cut down the amount of Cortisol in our body. According to Wikipedia,"Cortisol is a steroid hormone produced in humans by the zona fasciculata of the adrenal cortex within the adrenal gland. It is released in response to stress and low blood-glucose concentration."
It has been proved that those who exhibit more forgiving conscience has low physiological stress responses unlike those who don't. Forgiveness is associated with better psychological and physical well-being and in particular, cardiovascular functioning.


DIRECT BENEFITS
Forgiveness liberates the victims heart and mind more from negativism and makes him/her moves on with life with ease. When we forgive, we are released from traps of revenge and into a life of unmatched joy. comfort and positive life style.
First, our negative thinking dissapears, even when we meet our offenders on the way to work, we feel as ease. Then, we feel more comfortable around them, we tend to accept them back easier without feeling bad, no more resentments for them.

LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE
When we forgive, we let go of that anger and resentments that we've been harboring. Hence, Blood Pressure is reduced to a certain degree.

CLOSER RELATIONSHIP
Our relationship with those we have forgiven tends to get closer except we did not forgive them completely or we forgave them but did not forget what they did.

LONGER LIFE SPAN
Yes, Longer Life Span. I know that you may not believe this but Forgiveness frees our hearts of revenge, negative thoughts, and promotes good relationship with people, creates positive connections, promotes easy life style and many other things. There is every tendency for a person with a Forgiving heart to live long because he does not bear grudges nor revenge in his heart.


I'm very sure that not many people don't really know this until now. So, I urge us to learn to have a very Forgiving heart because as we have read, it promotes a better life for us.

1. Be Polite
