Yeah, but someone exclaimed it to be that you don't get ACCA from ICAN via MRA. You get exemptions and have to still write the final paper and fulfill the practical experience part.

We need someone who has gone that route to tell us if it is what is obtainable. The exams to write for CPA is ore than that for ACCA. In fact, it is like going back to school.

I think I gave wrong information earlier, you don't need to start from scratch for conversion from ICAN to ACCA. See link

After reading Josh’s Canny experience posted by @Yokus (though his write-up was 8 years ago) yesterday, I came to a conclusion with hubby that it’s better he travels first so as to sort out schooling and housing palava then we join against next session / summer I.e. June / July next year. I also read some counter arguments that Josh became focused on his job because he was constantly reminded of his obligations and that if he had travelled alone, he might have given up and returned to India. Wht’s your take guys?

To the veterans, how easy is it to settle down with Children and hunt for Jobs? Rembr, there isn’t any job waiting and the kids shouldn’t also have a gap in education. What is the probability of getting a job in the province one decides to settle I.e. house rent is running, kids are already in school and no job yet?

Also, the Calgary peeps - the Catholic schools are not that cheap. Clear Water / Webber / Master are asking for Family bond of about CAD10k. What do you think of the public school called Jennie Elliott ? I read that it’s a top school in SW Calgary but don’t want to base my decision solely on internet statistics.

Remember that the primary applicant has to land first or with the dependents. Dependent can't land before primary applicant.

If your funds are in your personal account, you'll need to send the account statement as proof. That is what is referred to as POF, Proof of Funds.

Or get bank reference letter in CIC format and have no need to include SOA.

The webinar for internationally educated accountants will come up Nov 15. Missed the one for Sept. For ACCA it is more straightforward but for ICAN, you will have to write some courses and then pass the CFE (like the multi disciplinary case study).

Do some more research before you start ACCA. From my research on Ontario CPA, you need to have started from the scratch with ACCA else you can't use conversion route. You can as well write the CPA directly. With ICAN, you might get some exemptions and attempt the CFE. There is a webinar for CPA Ontario coming up later this month. I will share the link once I find it.

ACCA. I started the process when i was in naija. It is CPA BC that handles it if you are processing it outside Canny then you are expected to notify them when you land so that they can transfer your file to your province.

Okay, the process for ACCA is different.

A non-Nigerian was responding with "am okay, am happy," etc and you didn't decode that you were chatting with a Naija guy.

@Czaratwork, is it ACCA or ICAN you have? From what I gather, you have to be registered in the province you live which might be why they sent it to Ontario.

My Buddy with ICAN and BSc from Ado Ekiti started and completed his CPA. He said it cost him about 6k CDN (Got exemptions), but company picked up about 4k of the bills.

Ok, you have updated the info. Before, it used to be a minimum of 183 days per year for at least 4 years. However, without that minimum can you do short stays?

I don't really understand. It says they have removed minimum restriction in terms of how many days in a year. What I was asking is if a person can stay in Naija and be going there for hols using the PR card. So if I go there at least once a year for 3 years and stay about 3/4 weeks, I can still qualify?

£44k is alot of money in the UK atleast in my industry and that of my wife. e.g In the electrical T & D industry out west, that is around the starting wage for our electricians and technologist (OND level) here. Engineers starts around 90k and in 5 to years could go up to around $140k.. Another 40k from OT is easily obtainable across all cadre.

Those in the oil industry make around double of that.

What province was the job you saw located? I am guessing eastern provinces.

Same for my wife's industry in healthcare. The wage in the UK is just about half of her earnings in CA. In the science, health and tech industry, wages vary accross Canada typically in a west vs east scenario. e.g The big cities jobs starting wage for my wife out east is around $39/hr. While in the west...it starts at around $47.

In Canada, which areas are east and which ones are west? Please, don't send me to Google.

For me, I have decided to take some time off and get settled into a routine. I would be with my 1 yr old at home so will also wait for him to grow a bit. Then I want to pursue some certifications and do my conversion. All these should take about a year or a year and a half. My husband should be working during this time.

I look at our POF as funds that will be spent in the first 4 months whilst we settle down. Subsequently, as we earn, we start building savings. Dispose of property in Naija as required. My plan sha.
