Corrinthians: Dude, after reading your comment I do not know whether to laugh or shake my head in pity because of your ignorance. Your ignorance is palpable. I feel like I can touch it. In your bloated ego, you think you have done justice to the meaning of the word "loses." If you are ready to UNLEARN and RELEARN, look at the screenshot of a dictionary page showing different meanings of the word "lose." In your comment, you suggested that it could only apply to "divorce." Brother, how wrong you are. You can LOSE someone when they die. The woman in the story was Tinubu's ex wife and she had at least a child with him. Okay, Tinubu lost the child last year and, unfortunately, he also lost the mother of the child this year. Also, see for yourself in another screenshot provided below how the respected Chicago Tribune used the word. Est-ce que tu comprends, mon ami? ( Do you understand, my friend?) In your haste, typical of Nigerian youths who are mentally lazy, you labelled "make it" a blog. You thought the publication was one of those run-of-the-mill, kill-joy and copy and paste blogs. Business / Cola War: Pepsi Leads Coke In Critical Segment by yeankhar49: 10:13am On Sep 25, 2018 |
If you ask anyone in Nigeria which is the bigger brand between Coca Cola and Pepsi, you’d probably be told, it’s the former. Indeed, Coke is widely believed to be the leader in the cola drink market in the nation. But recently, the changing dynamics of the cola war seems to be favouring Pepsi. Although the financial statement of Coca-Cola for 2017 is not made public, an unofficial source in the company revealed that its net sales volume to Nigeria dropped by 8.66 percent from the €583.3 million recorded at the end of 2016 to €532.80 million (N227,298,986,863.04) recorded in 2017. On the flip side, the Seven Up Bottling Company, manufacturers of Pepsi and other drinks in Nigeria, recorded N10.7 billion loss before tax for the financial year ended March 2017. Instructively, its selling and distribution increased to N13.9 billion in 2017 from N11.8 billion and revenue increased from N85.6 billion in 2016 to N108.2 billion in 2017. Reports said the company’s fortune slightly improved by the second quarter of 2017. It recorded a 2% growth in revenue in the second quarter 2017 while net profit climbed by 5%. Half-year profit was also reported to have grown by 17%. Surely, the company’s fortunes did not come only from revenue generated from the volume of sales of Pepsi but it is indicative of its rising profile. Investigation by make it shows that Coke is losing out to Pepsi in the on- the-go-market points in locations like traffic jams and motor parks. A recent survey conducted by make it showed that Pepsi has considerably cut deep into the domineering market share of Coke. Although, superstores such as Shoprite, Justrite and others are offering consumer groceries, including soft drinks at discounted prices, on-the-go market points like traffic jams and bus terminals remain a major off- trade channel that certainly cannot be ignored as high volumes of consumables get to consumers on the go. make it’s survey of major traffic spots and major motor parks in Lagos shows that Coke has almost lost out to Pepsi, and is retreating into retail shops and fast food joints. Soft drinks vendors who were old allies of Coke are forging a new, rewarding relationship with Pepsi. Only 9 out of 17 hawkers surveyed in Ijaye Bus-stop, along Oshodi – Abeokuta expressway had Coke in their sales packs, while the entire 17 had Pepsi. A distributor of soft drinks in Ijaiye Shopping complex who declined to give her name said Pepsi is leading in the sales of carbonated drinks. “We don’t sell much of Coke, the one that moves is that one without sugar- (pointing to a low sugar brand) because consumers are running away from sugary product. Most people now ask for Pepsi.” At Sango Ota, out of the 20 vendors sampled, 16 had Coke, while 17 had Pepsi in their stocks. At Iyana Ipaja Bus Stop, 14 vendors had Coke, while the same number sold Pepsi. At Berger – Ojodu, only eight out of 10 hawkers had Coke, while all the ten had Pepsi. A vendor who identified himself as Femi told make it he does not peddle Coke because “there is really no gain in it. You make only N10 from each PET bottle.” At Ikeja Along, by rail line, only 11 out of 14 hawkers had Coke, while 12 had Pepsi. Coca Cola has been going through challenging times in recent years which has seen it close down its concentrate plant in Ogun State in 2009. In 2011, it delisted from the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Recently, the company said it was evaluating its competitive position in on-the-go channels and was taking measures to maintain its leadership position. A senior staff of Coca-Cola who agreed to speak to make it on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak said, “we have invested consistently over the past eight years in particular to expand our production and distribution capacities and meet increasing consumer demands across our various trade channels, including the on-the-go market.” Last week, The Coca-Cola Co. confirmed it was set to complete a 100% takeover of Nigerian dairy and soft drinks business Chi within the next six months, showing the increasing confidence of the global brand in the Nigerian market. However, it seems evident Coca Cola must put on its thinking cap if it hopes to edge out its main competitor, Pepsi that is cutting a large chunk off its market share. Politics / Alleged Impeachment Move Against Ambode A Fabrication -lagos House Of Assembly by yeankhar49: 4:44pm On Sep 12, 2018 |
he Lagos State House of Assembly has described the impeachment rumour against Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as a hoax and the House urged members of the public to disregard it. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, officially declaring his intention to run for a second term in office at the old Task Force office in Alausa, Ikeja, on Monday, September 10, 2018. Speaking to make it on the issue through Musbau Rasak, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, it said the story, which circulated in the political circle on Tuesday, was not true. There were speculations on Tuesday that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the political mentor of Governor Ambode had given instruction to the All Progressives Congress controlled House of Assembly to impeach Ambode over alleged rift between Tinubu and his mentee. Rasak, however, insisted that nothing of such was being contemplated by the House. An independent source also dismissed the speculation, saying it was unfounded. The rumour of the impeachment filtered into the political stratosphere around the same time that it became obvious that Ambode had two challengers in his bid to seek re-election for a second term in office. Current Chairman of Lagos State Property Development Corporation and former Commissioner for Establishment during the regime of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola , Jide Sanwo-Olu and and former Commissioner for Works and Housing, Obafemi Hamzat, reportedly obtained the gubernatorial nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for the governorship ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress. There were reports that the forms obtained by Sanwo-Olu were purchased by the Mandate Group, a group of local government Chairmen loyal to APC national leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. Recent reports have also punctured the claim that 57 chairmen of local government areas/local government development councils obtained the form for Sanwo-Olu. Ambode had earlier obtained his own nomination forms at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja on Monday. He later addressed thousands of his supporters in Lagos on Monday. He expressed his gratitude to God, the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the good people of Lagos State for the opportunity to serve them. He said he was motivated to do more for the people if given another opportunity to rule. The APC governorship primary will hold on Tuesday, September 25. The nomination and expression of interest forms for the party is pegged at N22.5 million. source: https://www.makeitglobal.biz/alleged-impeachment-move-ambode-fabrication-lagos-house-assembly/ lalasticlala seun

Celebrities / Nigerians Hail Osasu Igbinedion Over Role In Jones Abiri's Freedom by yeankhar49: 11:41am On Aug 17, 2018 |
High-flying television host, Osasu Igbinedon, has been commended by some Nigerians for the role her TV platform, The Osasu Show played in the release of Jones Abiri, a Nigerian journalist, detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) for two years without access to medical, lawyer and family. Osasu, host of “The Osasu Show (TOS)” every Friday and Lead Host of "The Weekend" every Saturday and Sunday on African Independent Television (AIT), had hosted friends, colleagues and even family members of the detained Abiri on her show barely a few days before the journalist was freed by the DSS on Wednesday. One of the fans of the show noted that “Jones Abiri has finally been released after two years in DSS detention! You see the effect of your show last week on this issue. I never knew about the issue before you addressed it and I’m sure many others, even those in authority didn’t.” The admirer of the TOS added that “to the best of my knowledge you are the only one who brought his predicament and those of others like him to the limelight. Congratulations to you and your team on this.” Abiri’s freedom was confirmed by his lawyer, Samuel Ogala, who revealed that he was released after satisfying the bail condition levied by the court. Abiri has been in the DSS custody for about two years without trial over allegations of being the leader of the joint revolutionary council of the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, a separatist group. Consequently, he was accused of bombing oil pipelines, planning attacks on Abuja and sending threat to international oil companies and also demanding money from them. Following public outcry, Abiri, publisher and editor-in-chief of Weekly Source Newspaper, was charged to court two weeks ago and was eventually granted bail by an Abuja court. The court last week reviewed his bail conditions following an appeal by his legal team and he finally regained his freedom Wednesday evening after perfecting the bail conditions. His trial continued at the Abuja Magistrate’s Court, Zone 2, Wuse, on Thursday. Over the years, Osasu has established a pedigree as the voice of the voiceless and oppressed. She has initiated several corporate social initiatives to bring succour to the less privileged, including internally displaced persons whom she had not only featured on her show to amplify their situations but also visited several times to donate relief materials to them. She was one of the few young Nigerians invited by President Muahammadu Buhari to the Presidential Villa, Abuja to witness the signing into law of the not-too-young to run bill. lalasticlala seun |

I won’t go to jail.” Buhari, who said he had been accused of many things, said his critics could not accuse him of stealing. “You cannot accuse me of stealing. I have appointed Ministers and they are in charge. I appeal to their integrity. When they come here (Federal Executive Council) Chambers, we ensure they follow the due process. If I owned an oil well, I would have gone to jail,” he reiterated. He also responded to a number of issues raised by the delegation, including complaints that Muslims had been marginalised in appointments to government institutions such as the military and the civil service. The President said the concern raised by the group illustrated how difficult his job is, because he faced the same criticism from adherents of other faith, positing that, “I am in a difficult situation.” On violent conflicts in some parts of the country, President Buhari said he was doing his best to address the situation. He said following his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Police in Zamfara State, he ordered a massive transfer of officers and men who had stayed three years and above in the troubled state. source: https://www.makeitglobal.biz/wouldve-gone/ lalasticlala seun

Politics / 11 Worthy Notes From APC Convention by yeankhar49: 1:42pm On Jun 25, 2018 |
The Buhari/Osinbajo synergy For the two days the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) lasted in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari and the VP, Professor Yemi Osinbajo displayed an amazing synergy. Though for the better part, they digested unfolding events at the convention in the comfort of their private spaces or what you might refer to as “executive solitude”, intermittently, they talked either about issues of interest at the convention or any other carry-over conversation on national issues. The chemistry between them was so seamless and so natural. The National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu hit the proverbial nail on the head when he said in his combative yet inspiring speech that Osinbajo has been absolutely loyal to Buhari. make it global HOME NEWS ENTREPRENEURS OPPORTUNITIES & RESOURCES MAKE IT TV COMMUNITY PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP LIVE TRAFFIC CONTACT US COMMUNITY MEMBERS NIGERIAN NEWS • TOP NEWS 11 worthy notes from APC Convention 1 hour ago7 Views APC successful national convention Here are some of the factors which made the just ended APC national convention memorable: The Buhari/Osinbajo synergy For the two days the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) lasted in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari and the VP, Professor Yemi Osinbajo displayed an amazing synergy. The Buhari/Oyegun extraordinary chemistry Surely, President Buhari will miss the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Naturally, President Buhari is taciturn except when he is in the midst of people he is comfortable with. However, whenever he had to speak with Oyegun, who sat on his left at the convention, Sai Baba would light up in excitement. Maybe “Bubu” will engage Oyegun as a political adviser or give him any other responsibility out of the thousands of favours at his fingertips Source: https://www.makeitglobal.biz/apc-convention-notes/ Lalasticlala seun

Plans by telecommunications firm, MTN Group to raise $500 million from the capital market through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) may have suffered a major setback. A copyright infringement suit demanding account of N112.5 billion revenue generated from alleged passing off of a comedy show has been slammed against the firm before the Federal High Court in Lagos. Sources within the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) had already confirmed moves by MTN to raise $500 million through the sale of shares in its Nigerian business. Aside agreeing to list the Nigerian unit as part of the June 2016 agreement to pay $1 billion fine to the Nigerian government for missing a deadline to disconnect unregistered subscribers, MTN had recently appointed an investment firm, Chapel Hill Denham as lead manager for the planned sale of $500million shares in its Nigerian business in 2018. It was gathered that the telecommunications firm was considering disposing as much as 30 per cent of its Nigerian unit on the NSE, while it had also appointed South Africa’s Merchant Bank, Renaissance Capital and Vetiva Capital as joint issuers to the offer.
