Politics / Re: Is It Illegal To Carry A Laptop? I Was Arrested For Carrying One by yemo(m): 5:18pm On Apr 07, 2010
I was once arrested with a colleague for having a copy Haliburton Vacancy Advert. They can cook up anything just to collect bribe.
was also arrested for having a lapie. unfortunately for them my laptop dual boots(windows and Linux), and always boots to linux first. So on getting to the station the stupid PM fumbled with the laptop for hours without knowing how to operate it. He kept insisting that there must be something on the laptop, and I told him to proof it. Seeing that am not being helpful and he had to return to the road so that the whole day wouldn’t be wasted for him, he finally had to let me go without paying a dime.

Education / Ex-ume Highest Scorer Turned Armed Robber by yemo(m): 8:31am On Aug 15, 2008
The Oyo State police command is now faced with the task of establishing the veracity of the claims by a 2002 highest scorer of the Universities Matriculation Examination, Adio Kolawole, that he is not an armed robber.

Kolawole and three members of his alleged gang were among the suspected criminals paraded by the Commissioner of Police at the state command, Mr. Bashiru Azeez, on Thursday in Ibadan.

The police boss alleged that Kolawole was the kingpin of the gang that had on many occasions tormented the University of Ibadan community, especially the female students.

In an interview with journalists, the alleged gang leader, however, insisted that he was not an armed robber, but a member of a cult group operating within the university campus.

Kolawole said he became a victim of circumstance after graduating from the UI, where he claimed to have studied Physiology from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, with matriculation number 110782.

According to the CP, Kolawole and members of his alleged gang were caught with one revolver, three live ammunition, one dagger, one knife and one black belt at a bush path where they had ordered their victims to report.

He said that the suspects had earlier robbed some female students of valuables, but not satisfied with their loot, they ordered their victims, who reside on Carpenter Street, Agbowo, to report at the bush path with more valuables.

Azeez said that the suspects were rounded up when they ran into an ambush laid by the police at the meeting point.

Kolawole said he relapsed into the world of crime due to unbearable pressure mounted on him by some cultists when he enrolled at the UI.

He said, “Because I led the UME exam of that year, they insisted that I should join them. I scored 320 when I sat for the UME in 2002.

“When the cultists knew about my brilliance, they started troubling me that I should join them. I reported to a policeman who, unknown to me, was the one bringing unsuspecting young ones into the Eiye Confraternity.

“It was not a thing I originally wanted to do. When I reported to him that a boy was troubling me, the policeman arrested him and then let him off the hook after 24 hours.

“I that reported the matter to him was held as a culprit and detained for three weeks. When I was eventually released, the cult leader boasted to me that nothing could happen to him and that if I did not join them, he would kill me.

“I was then forced to join the cult. But if I am pardoned, if they don’t kill me, I hope to join the police to help reduce criminality.”

Although he claimed that he was not an armed robber, he said that he only forcibly collected handsets from some female undergraduates, which he had since returned to them.

Kolawole added that the gun found in his possession belonged to a friend who kept it with him when they left a party.

TV/Movies / Re: Any Lover Of Mount Zion Films In The House? by yemo(m): 4:34pm On May 12, 2008

mount Zion films r nice but i want to be sincere how real r these stories and how do they affect our xtian live. the issues they talk about have been floged over and over again. too much emphasis on evil and showing the power of the devil. part 1-5. how do you spend a life time watching that. the beauty of god hes holiness and might , love for the sinner and painting the picture of the perfect marriage, relationship should be shown. we do not know better sometimes thats y we settle for less. i encourage you to view more videly. wink
I believe most of the issues they portray in their movies are real. talk of the "Story of My life" do you no how many ladies/men have ruin their lives because of making a bad choice in marriage. I remember when they showed that movie in my church, it was so real that it left many people in tears.
shall we talk of "blood covenant" or "blood on the alter" which portrayed ministers desecrating the pulpit, are you telling me this does not happen in real life?
Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Bad - Nigeria Is Bad - What Is Bad About Nigeria Than Other Countries by yemo(m): 12:53pm On Apr 14, 2008
Nigeria is bad.
Agreed!
what can we do to change it, do we leave it to the politicians to mortgage our future?
one thing i observed in Nigeria is that we lack a culture of civil disobedience, we rather bury our head in the sand like an ostrich and wish the problems way
if the throng of people that flock our houses of worship every sunday and Friday practised what they hear, i believe the situation of Nigeria would had since turn around.
but instead all what we do is pray and pray believing God to come to earth and turn our situation around without us making a commitment to change our orientation.
i am not saying prayer is bad but we need to back it up with actions. Martin Luther king Jr is an example of someone who back up his prayer with action.
i beg we are too docile
let us begin to imbibe the culture of civil disobedience. it is time the youths in this nation came togethe rt to form a pressure group and chart the direction of this country
God bless Nigeria

Religion / Re: The Sin Against The Holy Spirit: What Is It? by yemo(m): 11:41am On Jun 15, 2007
at one time or another we(Christians) have all sinned against the Holy Spirit
thus an unbeliever or baby Christian cannot sin against the Holy Spirit because they are yet to know who He is.
@bari-kade
what i meant is that an unbeliever/baby Christian can not commit the sin unto death
an unbeliever can mock the holy Spirit out of ignorance but once he/she accepts Christ he/she is forgiven likewise baby Christian can deny Christ because of persecution/temptation but once they repented they are forgiven.
one of the instances of the word impossible in the bible is in Hebrews 6:4-6
for it is impossible for those who are once enlightened(accepted himself as a sinner and see the need for a Saviour) and have tasted of the heavenly gift(received Jesus as his Saviour) and were made partakers of the HOLY GHOST(been baptized in the Holy Spirit), If they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify the Son of God again afresh and put him to open shame.
from Paul's writing to the Christian Jews above we can see that only those who had some degree of spiritual growth and who seriously understand the seriousness of denying Christ that could be guilty of sining the sin unto death
and there is no need of praying for them they are lost forever
Religion / Re: The Sin Against The Holy Spirit: What Is It? by yemo(m): 4:53pm On Jun 14, 2007
Today, I am now saved, and I now know better.
But tell me, Am I forgiven of those sins against the Holy Spirit?
lets get something clear, most if not all Paul's writing are to Christians and Paul collaborating Jesus Christ called the sin against the holy spirit "the sin unto death"
who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is the the third personality of the God Head, He is the representative of Jesus Christ on earth.
when Jesus was leaving He said the Holy Spirit would bring glory to Him and so the work of the Holy Spirit is to reveal more of Christ to us. among other things the Holy Spirit is our friend,
comforter. b4 we do anything we are suppose to check with him.
who is capable of sinning against the Holy Spirit?
an unbeliever who doesn't know Christ talk less of the holy Spirit,
a baby Christian who is still learning the rope?]
or a mature christian who as seen the holy spirit at work and whom the holy spirit has even used to bring souls to
Christ, who is well grounded in the Bible

what is the sin unto death
at one time or another we(Christians) have all sinned against the Holy Spirit.
a pastor who lost a wife to cancer accused God of not been true to His Word and promised not to serve Christ again. but after sometime he repented. though he has sin(the Bible says it is lawful for us to get angry but we shouldnt let the sun sets on our anger) but that is not sin unto death

the sin unto death is to willfully and deliberately deny Christ over a long period of time(consistently) and after repetitive warning from God by whom? by somebody who has tasted of the richness of the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, who has tasted of the Sweetness of God and who has experienced the grace and mercy of God over his/her life.
thus an unbeliever or baby Christian cannot sin against the Holy Spirit because they are yet to know who He is.
so it is not something to be overtly bothered about. we don't have to be obsessed with it.
