Omokri you are making mockery of yourself

Not really Reno's fan but he is helping us demand for the right type of governance from our leaders in government.

Did you observe that "PMB’s type of governance" is the main focus here?

To me, he is indirectly telling PMB to adopt Osinbajo's type of governance that ensures national peace and progress of all sectors.

Business / Building A Business Plan During Recession by yGist: 5:27pm On Feb 07, 2017
It’s easy for us to look at the gloomy economy and the millions of businesses scattered around the country and conclude that there is no need building another business. But as long as this planet remains and humans, not aliens live in it; there would always be room for more businesses to exist and thrive. As a matter of fact, several businesses depend on other businesses to operate and also succeed. Our business could be one of those but we need a plan especially at such a time of recession.

Our Business Plan is very important as it will act as our guiding map throughout the journey of the business so it needs to be thought through or well researched before concluded and implemented. We can’t opt for assumptions when drafting our business plan. If we’re ever going to do that, then we’d better subscribe for the services of Octopus just that it’s dead so we are left with no other option than to brainstorm. And we can’t afford to do a mumbo-jumbo job either if we don’t want our investment to take a trip to wonderland.

If we’re going to go lazy on our business plan, we’d better employ our 2-year old kid to manage the business because the outcome of the business plan won’t be better than one of his toys. Our business plan must be made with clear objective of where we’re headed and how to reach the destination within a given timeframe.

Autos / Stop! Don’t turn the ignition if you don’t love your car by yGist: 5:46am On Feb 07, 2017
We turn the ignition of our car but the car does not respond. It’s as if we got into a wrong vehicle but it’s sure ours. So why didn’t it keep our prestige intact? Well, just like ladies, cars also need regular attention or maintenance, or both. The only major difference is that, while one lives on oxygen; the other lives on gas. Seriously, if we guys can’t afford to take good care of our ladies, why date or marry them? Please don’t take that too serious, it’s just a poke.

Just as we sometimes don’t bother to know our ladies before and during dating; same way, we hardly know our cars. Seriously; when was the last time we read up the manual? That’s if the car came with one in the first place. What we mostly do is to simply get into the car and command it to do our bidding with a turn of the ignition. God once made a donkey talk to its owner. One wonders what our cars will say to our face if given such possibility.

Of course, we take our car to mechanics but how often do we do this? When the car choose to protest against our nonchalant attitude by refusing to start? Sometimes, we use unethical means to force the car to start at the detriment of its lifespan. That shouldn’t be, let’s not behave like some politicians (dictators) who gag protesters by all means.

For some of us, it is only when someone we’ll love to hate suddenly hit our car from behind in a bumper-to-bumper traffic, that’s when the auto-repair shop pops up in our mind – same way we sometimes relate to dentists. If we truly love our cars like our ladies, then we need to make a budget, preferably monthly at the minimum, for a routine maintenance even if the car is brand new; much more if it isn’t. Our cars would surely love us for it and it would be evident in its excellent performance on the road.

Health / When Your Job Becomes The Arch-enemy Of Your Health by yGist: 6:33am On Jan 29, 2017
Who would have believed he could secure a managerial job just about a year after graduating from the university judging by the level of unemployment in the country. Now, he has a lot of clients to manage on a daily basis as the Marketing Manager of a thriving bank in a highbrow area of the city.

He gets home around midnight after the hard day’s work coupled with gridlock traffic yet by 3am, he jumps out of bed like someone who had a terrible nightmare. He quickly gulps his coffee while scanning through documents on his laptop the moment he's done with his personal hygiene. He heads straight to his car and off he drives so early to his office in order to beat traffic so as to resume on time for an hectic routine like the previous day.

This is his third year on the job with the same lifestyle. When he started the job, he looked fresh, very youthful and vibrant but now, he’s almost a shadow of his former self while the bank keep on thriving. His weekends, annual leave and several government holidays were “bought over” by the bank in order for the monthly targets to be met. This happened frequently until it became a norm and he was very comfortable with it because he’d rather be a corporate slave than join the bandwagon of unemployed in the land. Moreover, many would “kill” to get his seat.

On a fateful day, while attending to several calls and looking through some data on his computer, everything suddenly turned hazy as he began to loose consciousness. Almost immediately, his body could no longer hold itself on his chair and before he could mutter words for help, he collapsed making a big sound that alerted his secretary who rushed in along with others; who immediately contacted medical for him to be rushed to the hospital.

Science/Technology / When Latest Technology destroy relationships... by yGist: 2:43pm On Jan 27, 2017
So we leave the phone shop happily with our newly purchased phone equipped with the latest technology that could do virtually anything except few things such as placing a phone call to God or interpreting someone’s dream. We brag around with it especially if it is made by popular brands. In fact, we wouldn’t mind replacing it almost immediately if it catches fire on its own few hours after purchase. It doesn’t matter if a section of our skin got burnt alongside, we will certainly replace the phone with another, most likely same brand or spec. How in the world can we live without it?

In our world today, we spend more time on our gadgets more than with fellow humans no matter how closely related. Sometimes, the most time we spend with other people are actually through our gadgets making us to spend more time “with” our gadgets. If it were possible to conduct a wedding ceremony for such relationship, many could actually walk the aisle saying “I do” to their respective gadgets right in front of the clergyman. Improper, right?

For many of us, we’ve lost touch on how to relate with one another without hiding behind the veil of a gadget and when we eventually meet physically, we act like nerds, stammering and speaking sheepishly things that we would have expressly typed out with several emoticons in our favourite chatrooms. And for some of us that are married, these gadgets especially phones keep putting “asunder” what the good Lord joined together as it takes its own position on our beds and other special spots after been with us throughout the day to places our spouses couldn’t even dare accompany us to. In fact, many of us lost our relationships and marriages due to these gadgets yet they are not evil.

So what’s the missing link? Balance, it is. For example, we don’t have to throw away our pen and paper simply because the latest technology in town now provides us a better platform where we could write or sign on. We shouldn’t replace our physical relationships with our virtual existence all because we love and can’t do without technology. Let’s stay up to date with the latest technology for skill acquisition and other necessary improvement or life enjoyment to only enhance us and not extinct us.

Let’s create adequate time for our friends and families the way we did before technology came our way so that the technology meant to bring them closer to us does not end up stealing us away from them. Remember, we are first human and should always remain human no matter the latest technology we embrace. It’s #techThursday! Hope you got something from today’s piece. Expect more on latest technology next Thursday. Don’t forget, love is sharing. Please share. Catcha!

Autos / Wait! Before You Buy That Car by yGist: 7:44pm On Jan 25, 2017
We save up sometimes painstakingly to buy that desired car not minding several factors that should have been considered before making the purchase. No, that’s none of our business at that very moment even if the information would come to us for free. Our sockets are so fixed on that car similar to when Bingo spots a juicy bone along the road. No one should even attempt calling Bingo at such a time because that’s no longer its name until it’s done with the delicacy.

But if we could hold on a little and make necessary consultations most especially from professionals, we would be amazed at how much stress, aches, time and money we could save both in the short and long run. As we know, it is the duty of a car dealer to market or sell his ware as a conventional businessman but it is our duty to ensure we’re not buying a car that would suddenly develop “catarrh” and start sneezing around the road, announcing our presence horribly till we get home.

Someone once bought a car that later proved itself to be assembled in hell. Much money was spent repairing the car at intervals causing the owner to be always broke. At a time, it appeared the car loved the company of mechanics than the owner. Despite the troubles the car owner went through, he clung steadfastly to the car like unto a darling wife until he was forcefully divorced from the car through a fatal accident that claimed his left limb.

It’s still autoWednesday where we gist about automobiles in general and we would have loved to share more tips with you but let’s save them for you till next Wednesday. Remember to share the little you got today with those in your networks. Catcha!

Business / 2017: Cultivate financial attitude by yGist: 2:12am On Jan 25, 2017
In 2016, Nigeria amongst other countries in the world experienced unprecedented recession. For an average Nigerian, life has never been harder. Many can no longer afford to provide for their families, get married as earlier intended, go on planned vacation nor shop like before. Many resorted to Ponzi Schemes such as Mavrodi Mundial Movement (MMM) and got their fingers burnt badly while few smiled to the bank. These happened at a time when both states and federal government were unable to find a lasting solution to the financial monster that held the country by the jugular despite several loans gotten from IMF and other sources. Hence the need to personally cultivate financial attitude.

Well, welcome to 2017, a year many believe should ease their myriad of financial problems. But as they say “if wishes were horses, beggars would ride”. That is exactly the case with many of us. How easy it is for us to “fold our hands” and wish our dreams would just come true. Even such is not always granted at Disneyland. Also, we sometimes love to hate the present-day government forgetting that we somehow hated past governments and might likely hate incoming governments irrespective of the political party that win the election – it’s only a matter of months or years. So the constant thing is hate unfortunately channelled in the wrong direction.

It’s high time, we hate our poor attitude that limits or even annul every chance for us to improve our financial conditions. We’ve got to roll up our sleeves and continually cultivate financial attitude that will help us face the new year strategically! Let’s not wallow in self-pity over and over again nagging about our poor financial conditions because that won’t change the situation. It would only increase our bills. If only self-pity could be traded for any currency, then it would worth the mission but it can’t if a dignified life is in view. Sincere apologies to social and corporate beggars.

We’re meant to live the year and not the other way round. But we’ve got to have achievable plans or goals for the year by regularly developing success or financial attitude. If we don’t have plans for the year, then we would be subjected to other people’s plans and some of their plans might not mean well for us. Let’s not forget the long adage that says “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”.

This new year, we have to engage our minds productively on every legal tasks, jobs or processes that would improve our financial conditions. This is what we consider as cultivating financial attitude – attitudes that can increase your finances. That’s all we’ve got for you on #financeTuesday. Expect more gist for your finances by next Tuesday.. Catcha!

Crime / Burkina Faso National Slits Woman’s Throat On Lagos Church Premises by yGist: 9:55am On Nov 15, 2016
A national of Burkina Faso, Laday Wendipanga allegedly killed one Adepeju Disu on Friday, November 4, by slitting her throat with a knife while she was asleep on the premises of Holy Cross Cathedral on Lagos Island during an ongoing vigil in the church.

As if that was not enough, Wendipanga, reportedly inflicted several cuts on the body of the victim and dragged her corpse to a corner on the premises before it was discovered by a member of the church, who raised the alarm.

A mechanic in the church’s vicinity, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victims were mentally ill, adding that Disu usually passed the night in the church. He said, “Both of them are mentally ill. They were being taken care of by the church. A vigil was going on that day when the incident happened. I learnt that she (Wendipanga) went to where the woman was sleeping on the church premises and slit her throat with a knife.”

A resident of the area, who identified himself simply as Daniel, said Disu moved to the church after a building she inhabited on Lagos Island was demolished. Another resident said that Disu’s remains were dumped in a dustbin on the premises. She said, “I learnt she had a disagreement with the suspect earlier, but I don’t know what it was all about.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba. Her words:

“The information we have is that the victim, Adepeju Disu, and the suspect, Laday Wendipanga from Burkina Faso, lived around the church. They seem to be mentally ill. Investigation will reveal more on that, especially on the side of the suspect. We need to do medical evaluation. The body was seen on thes church premises. The case has been transferred to SCIID, Yaba, for discreet investigation.”

More security and organization required in worship centres?

Politics / Rivers Election: Former Militant Leader, Ateke Tom Turns Preacher by yGist: 6:59pm On Nov 14, 2016
An ex-militant leader in Rivers State, Chief Ateke Tom, has called on the security agencies to be very thorough in their responsibilities so that criminals would have no hiding place in the state in the December 10 re-run elections in some parts of the state.

Tom made the call in Port Harcourt on Monday while fielding questions from newsmen about the upcoming election. He said that peace remained crucial for a successful re-run elections in the state and subsequently enjoined people of the state to be peaceful during the election.

The ex-militant leader also preached that it is undemocratic for political parties to promote issues capable of igniting crisis, emphasising that “politics should not be a do or die affair”. His words:

“Parties should be free to hold their campaigns anywhere in the state without fear or favour. I am ready to support the holding of party campaigns even in my bedroom, in my village too, every party is welcome.”

Literature / Green Card Tearing: Soyinka Intimidate Critics With Big Grammars by yGist: 1:21pm On Nov 13, 2016
Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on Saturday, proved that no one easily become a Professor, let alone a Nobel Laureate as he kept using big grammars to hit hard on his critics. Soyinka had earlier vowed to tear his US Green Card once billionaire businessman, Donald Trump, wins the US presidential election. Online commentators didn't spare him as they have been daring the revered playwright to carry out his threat.

Soyinka, in a statement he titled, “Red card, green card– Notes towards the management of hysteria”, described the online commentators as “noisome creatures” whose ignorance resonates largely on whatever they comment on. His words:

“Let me end with a Red Card to those noisome creatures, the nattering nit-wits of Internet: maybe Trumpland is not as despicable as the Naijaland you impose on our reality from your secure cesspits of anonymity."

“Go back to school. Your problem is ignorance, ignorance of whatever subject you so readily comment upon. Learn to study your subject before opening up on issues beyond your grasp. Sometimes you make one feel like swapping one green for another, out of embarrassment for occupying the same national space as you.’’

“If it even becomes convenient to bring it forward, I intend to do so, but please don’t come at me with plaints of time imprecision. I never discussed it with you, nor invited you to a private decision whose execution was already in the making."

“Do not try to browbeat me. It’s a waste of time – all you have to do is immerse yourselves in my antecedents. It will not attempt to deal with the notion of an exit time-table as conceived by others.’’

After been blasted like this, who can still refuse to go to school? grin

Romance / Marriage Problems: Reasons Women Stay With Cheating Husbands by yGist: 7:33pm On Nov 12, 2016
According to findings, being cheated on can be emotionally and psychologically draining. Studies have shown that about 70 per cent of men cheat on their wives and that 17 per cent of divorce cases are caused by infidelity. But, beyond religious teachings that admonish people to stay in marriage ‘for better, for worse,’ it would be interesting to know that the following reasons endear women to stay with cheating spouses:

Children: Findings have shown that one of the reasons women tend to stay with a husband that cheats on them is to protect and properly raise their children in the man’s house, especially if they would not be allowed to go with the children. Even if they are unhappy in the man’s house, they still prefer to stay than live in luxury outside his home. A psychologist, Prof. Oni Fagboungbe says, “If the woman already had children with the man, she tends to feel that her absence in that house would expose her children to maltreatment and they would suffer, especially if the man marries another woman. So, women tend to stay, just to look after their children, and that is the consolation for them.”

Societal discrimination: According to a report on Huffington Post, one other reason women tend to stay with cheating husbands is societal perception. In a bid to avoid being the subject of gossip and unpleasant reference among friends, colleagues, family members, neighbours and even siblings, some women have had to put up with cheating husbands. Fagboungbe also adds that such women would rather stay with the man than allow people see them as jumping from one man to another or for people to count how many men they have dated. He said, “In the African culture, some people see a woman’s exit from her husband’s house as a sign of her incapability to manage her home. So, such women want to stay to avoid such talks.”

Social security: According to Divorced Moms, a website where divorced mothers share their experiences, this is another reason most women would prefer to stay with a cheating husband rather than pack out of the house, whether to live alone or worse still go back to their parents. Thus, women with cheating husbands tend to see such men as ‘half bread is better than none’. On this, the psychology professor say, “From psychological perspective, there is a personality structure called ‘id’, which is very fragile, feeling insecure and would always look for somebody to lean on. Every human being has this personality component but it is more active in women than in men. So, that sense of insecurity would make women want to stay because leaving the marriage could make them see themselves as vulnerable and unsafe.

Financial dependence: Customarily, men are expected to fend for their families, and if that had been the case in such a home, some women tend to depend on their husbands for money to take care of the family, especially if they are not working or not making reasonable income. Such women are even more likely to stay if the husband is rich and has influence in the society. So, according to one of the reports, to avoid losing out or being stranded, such women tend to stay, more so if he still pays the bills and fulfils his obligations in the home. The fear of having to start afresh can also compel women to stay. It is more so if their self esteem is tied to the man’s status, thus, they would stay to sustain their self esteem and well-being. This view was also supported by the divorced mothers who shared their thoughts on their website.

Past contributions to the union: Some experts have also found that women who are the breadwinner of their homes or women who have contributed immensely to the sustenance of the union and running of the home tend to endure the man’s infidelity and excesses.

No more fears of the unknown: Some women believe that almost every man cheats, and for such women, not having seen their husbands with another women simply means he has not been caught, and not because he is not guilty. Thus, for some of these women, they feel better when they know and they could move on. It is for no reason that such women include contraceptives like condoms when the husband is travelling and they tend to warn their husbands not to bring the woman home. For such women, they would rather stay with the known person than going to meet an unknown man outside.

To avoid being blamed for failure of the marriage: It has also been observed that some women would rather endure a man’s infidelity or wait for the marriage to crash on its own rather than opt out of the marriage, simply because they don’t want all fingers pointing to them as the reason the marriage failed.

Planning revenge: For some who least expect their husbands to cheat on them, marriage counsellors also found that getting back at the man could be a way to assuage the betrayal. In fact, previous studies have found that one of the reasons women cheat is revenge. Thus, some women who feel betrayed by a cheating man could resort to (discreet) cheating to feel better. To them, if the man does his and they do theirs, there would be no problem.

Optimism: According to Ruth Houston, who is the founder of InfidelityAdvice.com, women who have cheating husbands tend to be optimistic that such would not happen again especially if the man apologised or they both went for counselling. This is even more so when religious leaders intervene, admonishing the woman to stay or banning the devil in the home or rebuking the enemies. On the other hand, some women tend to forgive the man for betraying the trust, whilst hoping there wouldn’t be a repeat.

Why would anyone choose to have a troubled home?

Foreign Affairs / Trump's Victory: Assassination Threat Floods Twitter by yGist: 4:20pm On Nov 11, 2016
President-Elect Donald Trump is yet to be sworn in but he is already getting hate speeches and assassination threats amidst post-election protests going on at different locations in the US. A Twitter user wrote on Thursday: “Can someone assassinate Trump and fix this huge mistake,” revealing the sentiments of others upset by the outcome of the 2016 US Presidential Election.

Since the race was called early Wednesday morning, angry Americans have flooded the social media platform. Others have responded by mocking those users, pointing out that if someone were to assassinate Trump, he would simply be succeeded by Pence, whom many consider more ideological.

The Secret Service of the United State does not comment publicly on its protective operations, but threats of assassination on social media have resulted in investigations in the past. As reported by The Atlantic, the organization’s “Internet Threat Desk,” founded in 2000, handles these kinds of cases and has seen its responsibilities expand in recent years. The unit, which identifies and assesses online threats against the president, was expanded in 2009 following the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

Politics / South West APC To Defect, Awaits Tinubu’s Directive by yGist: 9:43am On Nov 11, 2016
Everything seem to be pointing to a sudden mass defection of APC South West as APC leaders are only awaiting full directives from APC National Leader and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Over the weeks, high-profile meetings of politicians across party lines have been held secretly to conclude strategies for the emergence of an alternative political platform that can win the presidential election in 2019.

Senator Adesoji Akanbi, who represent Oyo South confirmed this by saying that Nigerians would soon see the outcome of the new political alliances and realignments. Presently, governors and lawmakers, especially senators from the South-West, are making necessary consultations to avoid being used and dumped in the next government.

Without mentioning names, Akanbi insisted that the people of the South-West have their way of responding to political challenges when they occur, adding that the decision of the leader, most often than not, was in line with the popular wish of the people of the geo-political zone. His words:

“I have not mentioned any name but whatever it is, it is going to be a collective decision. Personally, I am an advocate of regional integration. When I say regional, I am particular about the South-West, where I come from. You know that ambition can drive people and a lot of people, when it comes to amalgamation like that of the APC, some people may feel cheated and may not be happy with the outcome of the whole thing. It is normal.”

“There is no way you can form a new party in a room. Nigerians should not be too eager to see the outcome of such (secret and closed-door) meetings because they are still coming out to the public to canvass for support. Let us all wait and see.” In a veiled reference to Tinubu, he said, “Personally, someone like me is a committed member of the APC and I still have my leader. Politics is about the grass roots. You have to know what your people want before you can decide on what to do. I am from the South-West and we have a way of doing our thing. We still have a leader.”

“The recently suspended Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Timi Frank also made the confirmation a recent interview where he said: “I say this without fear of contradiction; major political re-alignments are going on in this country. I don’t want a scenario whereby my party, the APC, will lose out. I don’t want us to lose our members to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party or any other political party for that matter.”

Which party can win the next election?

Literature / Destroy Your American Green Card And Go To Jail, Soyinka Warned by yGist: 7:48pm On Nov 10, 2016
An Abuja-based legal luminary, Mr Kayode Ajulo, has cautioned Soyinka against carrying out his threat of destroying his Green Card as he would be risking three to seven years jail term. Nigerian Nobel Literature Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka had earlier vowed to destroy his American Green Card in protest to Donald Trump becoming the winner of the U.S. 2016 Presidential election. Few days before the Nov. 8 election, Soyinka told students at Oxford University that “I will cut my green card myself and start packing up” if Trump won the polls. The moment Trump won the election, the literary icon vowed to leave the United States by Jan. 20, 2017, the very day president-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated.

Ajulo said Soyinka is an opinion moulder, an elder statesman and nation builder, who should know the implication of such act. “Under the American law losing or having your U.S. green card destroyed can be a serious problem. Legally, such is tagged as wishful destruction of government’s property. He said the truth is that Soyinka is far better and far bigger than that because such act is provocative and unacceptable. He stressed that the literary icon is free to leave the country but does not have to tear the card; instead he should return the card as required by the law.

Ajulo said the professor, who is currently a resident scholar at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs, should know better. He said: "it has a lot of implications for Nigerians. Green cards or passports are valuable documents and should be looked after it with care. Mishandling of passport could stop you from travelling not to talk of destroying green card." Ajulo further described Soyinka as a good ambassador who cares not just about Nigeria but the world at large, advising him to keep to it.

Will Soyinka still destroy his Green Card?

Foreign Affairs / US Election 2016 Poll: Hopes Fade As Clinton Supporters Cries Profusely by yGist: 3:25pm On Nov 09, 2016
In what appeared to be a great shock that couldn't be contained, several supporters of the defeated candidate of the US Presidential election 2016, Mrs Hillary Clinton; couldn't bear the outcome of the election as they busted into tears and wept profusely to the point of being consoled.

The election had been so tensed with many counter-allegations from both candidates both hope was so high that Hillary Clinton would make it to the White House eventually. Supporters of Clinton watched nervously as healthy leads that had been predicted in polling for much of the past several months appeared to evaporate while the votes were tallied. A CNN reporter at the Clinton Election headquarters in New York said supporters were crying as they streamed out in despair after they watched the incredible results coming in.

After the unexpected electoral crushing Clinton's campaign suffered, she had to console her supporters in a tweet following her upset by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the historic U.S. presidential poll. The tweet reads:

Politics / Anxiety In Kogi As Governor Remains In German Hospital by yGist: 9:20am On Nov 08, 2016
Kogi State Government had earlier announced that the governor of the state, Yahaya Bello was healthy and insinuations regarding the poor state of his health should be discarded. But investigations revealed that he had actually been admitted into a hospital in faraway Germany for eye surgery.

Bello has been suffering from an eye ailment that had been troubling him for quite a while. He was in Dubai en route to Germany for the operation as he hoped to get effective treatment for the ailment. Up till Monday, the nature of the eye problem could not be ascertained. A senior official in the state confirmed that Bello travelled with some close aides and officials for the surgery. The official added:

“The governor is not missing as being speculated. The fact is that he has an eye problem and he decided to travel to Germany for medical treatment. He actually travelled with some close aides, including about two or three commissioners. He is expected back in the state within two weeks, after he might have recovered from the effects of the surgery on his eyes.”

The Leader of LIG and chieftain of APC in Kogi State in a recent statement in Abuja also denounced death rumour surrounding the Governor while reacting to reports of anxiety in Kogi State over the weekend, following the non-appearance of Bello in public in the last two weeks. His words:

“Desperate politicians and power seekers in the state,” said, “The governor is hale and hearty, enjoying his well-deserved rest outside the country after 10 months of hardworking and rigorous activities without rest since assumption of office.”

“In a precarious situation and bleeding before Governor Bello came on board. Governor Yahaya Bello is human and needs to rest so as to refresh in the task ahead. We are all mortals and every soul must taste death and power ultimately belongs to the Almighty God and who gives it to whomever He pleases. People must live with this reality, which derived mainly from the Holy Scriptures."

Are there no good hospitals in Nigeria?

Sports / Ronaldo: World's highest paid footballer to play 10 more years by yGist: 9:12am On Nov 08, 2016
Cristiano Ronaldo has made his rivals know that he is not ready to quit stardom but to keep playing actively for 10 more years - a very long time indeed. The celebrated footballer made his intention known by signing a new five-year contract with Real Madrid on Monday.

The three-time World Player of the Year has enjoyed a most successful year captaining Portugal to their first major tournament win at Euro 2016 and this new deal is expected to protect his status as world’s highest paid footballer and also keep the Portuguese tied to the European champions until he clocks 36. Hear his excitement:

“After the season I’ve had, to win the Champions League, the Euros and then renew my contract with Real Madrid it is something I never imagined. It is a dream year.”

“What I most want is to continue enjoying the years I have left to play. I still have 10 years (ahead),” Ronaldo said after signing what he insisted will be his penultimate contract.

Can Ronaldo sustain his rating for the next 10 years?

Sports / Avoid Regrets, Don't Bother Dying For Nigeria - Sam Okwaraji’s Family by yGist: 10:27pm On Nov 07, 2016
26 years after Sam Okwaraji, an ex-Super Eagles attacker slumped and died in 1989 during a World Cup qualifier against Angola in Lagos; the family of the late player has announced to the world that Nigerian government has not proved that the country was worth dying for.

Pat Okwaraji, a brother of the late Sam Okwaraji said this on behalf of their family during the opening of Sam Okwaraji Memorial Football Competition at the Sam Okwaraji Stadium, Orlu in Imo. He further said that Nigerian heroes who died for the country, including his dear brother, were not properly honoured by the government. His words:

“We did not expect the Nigerian government to give Okwaraji’s family gold and silver. What we expected from the country is to immortalise our son who died for the nation. Nigeria should learn how to inspire young talents by celebrating them. When heroes are celebrated and immortalised, it will go a long way to inspire young talents.”.

So which Nation worth dying for?

panafrican:

Big time lies. Who wrote this? one of the liberals from the Clinton Establishment with the help from CNN and BBC. Keep in mind Africans are tired fed up with the Democrats backing radical Islam's globalist agenda. Not only that We still remember Bill Clinton sending Milosevic to jail in the Netherlands and pushing o Muslims in the Balkans. If Clinton is elected, the first thing her administration will do will be to destroy Africa by stirring a war in Nigeria and creating a flood of 100 million refugees from that country.

Your opinion is well noted but don't forget what Soyinka said few days ago. It went viral so you must have noticed it and that is just one among many.

Personally, I don't want Hillary Clinton neither am I clamouring for Trump but I think both local and [most] foreign media favours her.

Politics / Buhari’s Anti-corruption Fight Can Deliver Nigeria From Recession - Pastors by yGist: 5:44pm On Nov 07, 2016
President Buhari's anti-corruption fight seem to be getting the nod from some Pastors in Nigeria. South-West Regional Coordinator of Foursquare Church in Nigeria, Rev. Olubisi Omotoso said that Christians have critical roles to play in the anti-corruption crusade by setting a pace in holiness and righteousness in view of the economic mess the country found itself.

He said this during the first convocation of Ilesa Missionary District of Foursquare Gospel Church in Ilesa. He was supported by Osun State Pastor of the church, Rev. Rasak Akinwale, who is also the Foursquare District Overseer of Ife, who said that Christians have a lot of roles to play in tackling the present economic challenges facing the country. His words:

“Christians should support President Buhari in the fight against corruption because corruption does not do anything good for the society. Our structure, our system is very weak, and for now, I want to advise the government to follow the rule of law in the course of fighting this monster called corruption to get the desire results. Government should also look for corrupt people now at the corridor of power and fish them out for justice."

“Any government that is selective in its fight against corruption, that is looking for only those in the opposition parties, will end up encouraging more people to be corrupt, and looters will continue to hold on to power to evade trial. Every corrupt leader, whether in government or in opposition parties, should be dealt with according to the law of the land so as to nip corruption in the bud. This will make everybody to begin to do things in the right way for the progress and development of the country.”

Foreign Affairs / US Election 2016: Israel, China, India, Europe And Africa Divided Than Ever by yGist: 8:26am On Nov 06, 2016
US Election 2016 has suddenly become a theme of "Trump vs. Clinton" and its effect has spiralled round the globe with diverging expectations and conclusions from various countries and continents.

Israel, for instance, is curious to know the agenda of the next America's President especially due to that fact that Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu didn't enjoy a lofty relationship with America over the last eight years of President Barack Obama's Administration.

For India and Pakistan, "US Election 2016 Updates" have been the most heartily-watched TV Series particularly in New Delhi and Islamabad. This is most expected as the hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours are becoming more volatile with each passing day. While Donald Trump considers the relations between both countries as a "very, very hot tinderbox", Hillary Clinton is more concerned about Pakistan running full speed to develop tactical nuclear weapons in their continuing hostility with India.

In China, Donald Trump is seen as an unreliable lunatic, while Hillary Clinton is believed to be a liar that can't even be trusted. As a matter of fact, China considers Mr Trump as a resurrection of the duo of Mussolini and Hitler as both came to power through elections. For Mrs Clinton, China sees her hectoring on human rights and anti-China policies.

In Europe, the entire EU member countries except for one seem to have cynically signalled their desire for a win for Hillary Clinton. Only Hungary's right-wing populist Viktor Orban endorsed Donald Trump. Most main opposition parties in Europe also support Mrs Clinton because her presidency is expected to continue the trans-Atlantic relationship enjoyed to a certain degree. European governments have paid close attention to Trump's campaigns but still considers him as "the unknown" since a Trump presidency, with its domestic, nationalist priorities, could further damage an already wounded European Union.

Lastly, in motherland, Africa, America has never been a laughing stock because a nation that project itself as the self-appointed police officer of world democracy appears to be hovering remarkably close to electing a leader who does not seem to be much of an advocate. This mockery is actually directed at Donald Trump whose presidency is viewed to be an authoritarian leadership bent on protectionism and isolationism with little sympathy for those who are different to him or who are not American. But Hillary Clinton, being a First Lady and a former US Secretary of State who left a big "Clinton footprint" over many parts of Africa, especially South Africa seem to enjoy more patronage from African countries though with some doubt as more was expected from the Obama administration.

Who can be trusted between Trump and Clinton?

Politics / No Tribal Or Religious Discrimination In Lagos - Ambode by yGist: 1:34am On Nov 05, 2016
The ever-dynamic Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has assured everyone living in the mega city to freely go ahead and excel to the level where God has planned for each one as his government will not hinder any one through tribal or religious discrimination.

The Governor said this when he hosted the executive members of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), at the Lagos House at the Lagos House, Ikeja on Thursday. Ambode said he acknowledge the large number of religious organisations within the state and very proud that Lagos is home for all. He promised that Lagos State government would continue to respect the constitution of the Nigeria which allows for freedom of association. His words:

“In Lagos, it is very clear that there is heavy presence of religious organization, Lagos is a cosmopolitan state, we do not discriminate, and we are set out to obey the constitution of this country. And in doing so, free citizens of Lagos State should be given the chance to excel to where God has planned for them to be”.

“We do not discriminate based on religion, we would not discriminate based on tribe, we are not going to discriminate based on where you come from. It is not the will of God and we would not practice it. I have read some literature about you, I am very happy to associate with this association because you have done things that government should ordinarily do. And it is not about women, it’s about you, and it’s about the future of Nigeria.”

Should Ambode be given a Second Term?
