yndig:

sorry for the late reply.
i dont know what kind of soill i am building on but it is definately not sandy and swampy, there is a little bit of slope on the ground hence the 5 and 7 coaches of block. it is a duplex. and this is around the qwarimpa extention.

here is a question for 4. i am confusee here . how many inches do you cast all your foundations? and and is it okay for a foundation to be cast both 4and 5 inches?

What type of soil are you building upon, swampy, sandy or hard dry ground? and, what size and style of building, duplex or block of flats?

sorry for the late reply.

Sorry I missed this last night. Yes the sand was enough for the foundation because I bought additional filling sand (about 7 trips or so) to fill the foundation. Another condition that dictates the size of sand is the land slope, the water level of the environment and the height of the
foundation block. Maybe you foundation is very high?

It seems like we are talking about different things. I meant the sharp sand.

My foundation is both 5&7 coaches I have bought 6 trips of sharp sand, and have been told to buy more six for the slab casting. So this is why I was curious when I saw u only used "5 sand"
Properties / Re: Building A 5 Bedroom Duplex In Ebonyi State by yndig: 8:35am On Oct 20, 2012
Spyder you did not answer my question about the sand.
yndig:

@spyder I don't mean to be "carl smart", but is the sand for the whole foundation? And if it is, isn't it too small? I have already bought 6 trips of sand and i have not done my DPC casting yet and i need sand for it.

15 Designed pillar casting works 22,000.00
16 Front sit out works(yet to be done) 55,000.00

ALL TOTALS 1,157,950.00

The budget for this second stage was N1,282,500.00, we used this total amount to acheve the works and the rest of the amount went into site mangement, logistics and supervision. We still have a lot of materials not used in this stage, we have the following on the ground in the site;

1. trip of sharp sand
2. trips of gravel
3. 211 pcs of blocks
4. 4 lenghts of 16mm rods
5. 3 lenghts of 12mm rods
6. 4 lenghts of 6mm rods

We are yet to commence the sit out works which should be part of this stage, but these materials remaining are more than enough to do the sit out as soon as I complete the decking. I have paid some of the workers that will do the sit out with some of the amounts listed above

Work on the decking stage will commence soonest it will be a big decking with canilevers everywhere, more pictures soon.

The money spent so far in this project stands at N 2,795,700.00

Properties / Re: Building A 5 Bedroom Duplex In Ebonyi State by yndig: 7:57am On Oct 19, 2012
spyder880: This brand is the most sought after by those who know the quality, also costlier, the Niger pipes.

Is this brand only limited to the east ? Because I could not find it in Abuja. I had to settle for this one called MC
Have u used it before ?
Properties / Re: Building A 5 Bedroom Duplex In Ebonyi State by yndig: 9:58pm On Oct 18, 2012
I know, I will never do this again anymore. Right now I have a security on site, but I don't plan to continue paying him when this stage is done. So i am very worried about my plumping materials . The House has internal plumping so all the plumping are going up now, And I plan to take a break after the DPC, The 2 million I had put aside For both the DPC and the block work is all gone into the DPC. I am forced to take a break undecided

@prince_onx I am with you, my rods were also stollen at my site, I hesitated leaving them there without any security, but one of the guys working for me thought it was not necessary since the rods were cut already according to my his plan, but they stole ALL OF IT. I had to pay for new rods and workmanship for 38pillars all over again. cry

Thanks so much Brabus for the break down

On another note the engineer is charging 110k to supervise the whole foundation work and 140k for the casting and decking work. i dont agree with him but is the price fair?

Thanks guys for the reply i see points in what both wrote but for me i think the quote was way too high.

Here is a little insigt to the project.

1. the land is flat
2. the foundation is dugged
3. Yes the site is far from market but i deal with the material to site
4. the Bricklayer will only have to deal with ''blinding, casting, blockwork, slap ''carpenter''(its a contract)i have my ironbender and everything that has to be done till the Foundation is completed

will this help you guys say the appropriate price for this job? or maybe close to appropriate price?
Properties / Re: Strong, Beautiful And Affordable Homes by yndig: 4:12pm On Aug 06, 2012
