DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 17 MAY 2019

MTN did as expected, sending the bears out. We expect the yellow party to continue. MSCI showed up committing $91,000 to the market.

The key level for the all share index for today is 28,586.80. Once the index closes above this level, the party will continue.

DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 14 MAY 2019

MSCI still had clean slate for 13 May. The stage 4 of the market is a falling one that is looking for support. Stay out of the market or buy only stock in strong sectors with RSI better than that of the general market.

Equally we are to avoid equities that are in stage 4. If you mistakenly buy a stock in stage 4 as an investor and you continue to double down, it can be a certificate for bankruptcy/heart attack. As an investor you are better off buying the immediate breakout from stage one moving to stage 2.

You can get our report to know the strategy to adopt in each stages of the market. So many issues are involved to apply this strategy. Have you notice that stage 3 can move to stage 4 or even become another stage 1?.

MSCI Nigeria on 10 May 2019 maintained a clean slate. Trend of the market still down.

I just observed that there may be another version of looking at the market which would have prevent many of us from jumping to the market at the wrong time. Adding this “Trend Life Cycle” to our stock selection idea will definitely do us good.

For example Caverton is currently in stage 3 (likely to move to stage 4). For Fidelity, it is definitely in stage 1, meaning there is hope.
We will continue from here tomorrow.

MSCI on 9 May continues with buying some units of sterling bank. Stability of Oil Price and Proposed MTN listing will continue to direct attention to Nigeria for now.

You can get our stock picks and more on our twitter page. Getting FCMB at NGN1.80 will be a good deal.

Waiting for the right moment to strike in the market can be good. We are happy even if we are not getting any payment for these postings, the fact that a lot of people have been protected from loses is our happiness. If you are not making losses profit will definitely come.

MSCI Nigeria on 6 May bought sterling bank heavily. With the way MSCI is buying this bank, it may be good to join; price level of NGN2.50 should be a good point to start looking at the stock.

We still need more buyers in the market, the market is currently in a range.

Today,I still expect a range bound market.

MORE VOLUME NEEDED IN THE MARKET

Market today was scary earlier in the day.

However, towards the close some small rally happened. This is looking like "the market makers" are at play here.

This is not a time to be aggressive in buying. One can either take out some gains if any or be prepared to wait for more buyers to enter market. A good time to take some break from the market, i.e just be looking from afar waiting to join the party when things get merrier!!!

MSCI Nigeria on 3 May only bought some sterling bank and sold the fixed income instrument or moved it out of the equity portfolio.

Oil news not cheery this morning, expecting a range bound market for the week.

Looking at the market depth/sentiment a bullish/ranging week is expected. Probable increase in trading volume/value is expected. The background drumming of MTN Nigeria’s listing may generate more interest in the market.

please which is the best stockbroking portal to use in terms of

1. transaction costs

2. customer service
i am porting from mytradebook.

I currently use 2 brokers. Morgan and United Capital. Morgan is cheap (about 1% commission all round, while United Capita is 2% commission all round).

However, for Customer Service, United Capital is 100% okay. You can use the platform or you can send e-mail to trade. Morgan will never, allow you to trade by e-mail, as they will keep telling stories which an average person cannot comprehend.

Also, whether the United Capital platform is working or not, your e-mail orders will be executed without any excuse. Also after selling, your money will be sent to your account without you asking. I always like to place my order in days in advance without need to key-in everyday; for this United Capital is super. For this single reason, I want to trade more with United Capital due to their excellent Customer Service, thank God for the now reduced commission which has closed the gap in charges compared with Morgan. In conclusion for me United capital is it. On Customer service United Capital is heaven, while Morgan is hellish and very deaf/dump (sorry for being this hash).

DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 02 MAY 2019

MSCI on 30 April bought some fixed Interest Instruments and Sterling bank shares, bulk of money went to bond.

That generally the index is down is not a debate, but market depth is telling investors not to panic, Only you may need to change your style. Some days past we told our subscribers to avoid shares higher than NGN30.00 for now (except in some few instances), probability of higher gain is lower compared with lowly priced equities and this has been true in the current scenario.

We are still crafting our plan for the next 3 months. cheesy grin cool

Telling what the market will do bull or bear is fairly difficult (Allshare Index going own, market depth positive), but I will support a bounce for today.

Keep: DFM (there is NGN26.00 on the table), Vitafoam, UPL, sterling, Access. But things can change after next 4 months. But for the short term , these should be safe.

MSCI Nigeria on 24 April 2019 little buying in 3 equities only worth only $21,000 approximately.

This is a time to wait the results to come out before buying, the risk will be lower. If the earning is good we still have opportunity to buy at a later date. Equally if the earning is bad, we equally have the chance to buy at a lower price.

NSE STOCK MARKET WEATHER REPORT FOR 23 APRIL 2019

MSCI Nigeria on 18 April 2019 continues with buying across sectors, no selling for the day, inflow just about USD66,000. This buying by the fund is a relief for the bullish expectation in the market.

This new week may bring some slowdown to the recovering market. For Sterling bank, a good entry point will be when the current price has reduced a little. Our team reviewed the chart to indicate our expected entry price.

MSCI Nigeria on 16 April 2019 continue with buying Sterling, NBL, ETI, Guinness and selling Access just as it happened on 15th April. Bulls becoming more entrenched in the market, there may be resistance at 30,177.02. Support at 29,662.09 is very strong and likely to keep the bears at bay for quite some time.

Today, bulls still favored. Oil Price, earnings expectation, negative news about Nigeria now minimal.

MSCI Nigeria on 15 April continue with buying Sterling, NBL, ETI, Guinness and selling Access on a very low scale. Bearish counter trend is still in play. We still expect today to be on the bullish side.

What will drive this market is the result expectation, taking clues from our results drill down, I see a lot of likely disappointments, but quick glance from our drill down equally indicate some likely good 1st quarter results/next quarter results.

Except a miracle happens I don’t see how the next quarter for such companies can be positive on their regular business lines (likes of Honeywell to mention a few). However, for other companies a good 1st quarter result is expected Cadbury, Caverton, Zenith, Seplat, CCNN, Afriprud, Julius Berger (we will continue updating list in subsequent mails to subscribers).

CHARTS DON'T LIE

We need to control our emotions. I just observed that charts don't lie, most of the time we see a chart telling us something and then we do another. How can I convince myself that UBA/Afriprud will still fall in price today looking at the price on Friday tongue cry

However, the charts/indicators are saying wait!!!, but just keep the items in your watch list and enter at a particular price later. The only consolation is that at this point risk of further downtrend in some equities is minimal, Brent crude above USD70 will make "MSCI and gang" likely to continue picking up some stocks.

For me if the bull fails to show up, it is pens up for me, temporary stoppage of putting more money in the market.
