you raise a good point my brother, not the increment be the koko if they increase to that unrealistic amount demanded by labour, it will creapled our economy totally.
Labour came up with Thier figure and they went ahead to give us the breakdown for the family of six. Why govt couldn't come up with Thier own figure uptill now for us to see if truly it looks like a living wage.
I learned that the government were looking at 70k. Ok, let them give us the breakdown on how a family of six can live comfortably with 70k.
Looking at the figure presented by labour, even if they say 100k, govt and people will still say is high, so for me ,the starting figure from labour for negotiation is not bad. Definitely it will come down to an agreed figure.

Same idiots that can't pay people in their employ 30k monthly? Let's be reasonable abeg.
I support a significant increase in the minimum wage, but to be honest with you, 600k is too outrageous.
Something around 100k should be fine.
It's not enough to be fighting for minimum wage abeg, labor should also be fighting against the maximum wage.
At least, let them base minimum wage as a percentage of the maximum wage of any public servant, elected or appointed.
Something like, the minimum wage should not be less than 1% of a senator's take home pay for instance.

The analysis is reasonable but really not feasible for payment by this present government.

APT!

The money in circulation isn't backed with the production of goods so the new money in the form of proposed minimum wage steals value from the old money making value of money go down

Food prices ain't going up.
Your Money value is going down

I am sure these guys are not really serious with this thing they are doing. Increments in salary will only invite inflation. For me, I think what the workers should fight for is the naira purchasing power. If my salary is 20k, I should be able to purchase good things with it. For example, with 20k salary:
Bag of rice.... #950
House rent (annually)... #230
Sch fees (private sch)... #110 (very expensive)
Car (moderate).... #6500 cheesy grin
Buy a house... #4250 etc
Oya wake me up!!

This is highly a sensible comment because it is a misplaced priority to be asking for increments .
For me public servants are one of the major problems of this country because they know themselves that increase in their own salary will directly increase inflation
Re: Nigerian Workers Release Breakdown Of Proposed ₦‎615,000 Minimum Wage by In4matic: 10:40am On May 04
So many paid agents on this platform who tactfully avoid the main issues.
What are the main issues?
1. To have a labour force awake to their duties.
2. Checkmate workers always asking for bribes.
3.To arrest the brain drain in the country.

The purpose of the proposed living wage is to ensure the lowest worker, his/her spouse and 4 dependants can live a basic life without the need to seek extra.

Now, with that said, let's really break it down:
N270,000÷30 days= N9,000 per day for 6 persons.
Meaning N1,500 per person daily
Or N500 per meal.

Is that too much?

Next is transportation.
Unless we are lying to ourselves, a junior worker or senior worker all pay the same bus fare, the same as school children.

Let's break it down.
N110,000÷22 days= 5,000 per day
Working father: N2,000 (to and fro).
Market mother: N1,000 (to and fro)
4 school kids: N500×4= 2000 daily

Is that too much?

Factor in Rent, Clothing, medication, utilities and you see. This family are just surviving.

This won't lead to inflation, rather stability in the economy because, money will flow again as purchasing power has increased.
An unemployed person who engages in a trade or learns a skill is sure of patronage because people can afford his services.

All these kids on this platform still eating "Mummy-thank you" cannot understand because all they see is the lump sum.

This is the solution to the Problem in the civil service.

If Nigerians are not tired of having to part with bribes whenever we go to any government parastatal ( be it Court, licensing office, passport office, NEPA, police, Nafdac name it. The story is the same)

Aren't we all tired of seeing policemen at checkpoints collecting 100 Naira?

Since the government isn't paying a living wage, the citizens have to pay for it.

Let the government wake up to their responsibility so the citizens can breathe.

This is a lie they sold to you.. Such a minimum wage will actually stimulate the country reduce corruption, improve labor dignity.. Price of goods and service follow demand and supply not minimum wage.. The only things that could increase in price to become expensive is housing and this is because with more money, people will want to live in highbrow areas and the demand will increase price and the price will I turn open up more real estate places...
Politicians are already receiving high wage and still nothing..
Infact high winimum wage will ensure cheap food but most of all reduce corruption in civil service which is the actual problem of the country

Exactly, once the minimum wage is placed at 615k...problem don start be that..

Inflation will rise up and we will start buying tin of peak milk for 5k

Solution is that, inflation should be sorted as soon as possible so that our 5 naira can be valued again

ofcourse the normal ego tripping instead of actually thinking...
how do you guys expect a country with a minimum wage of 30k to grow when over 70% of its population fall within such?? in the 70s our budget was $25bn with around 70million population and today its around $16bn with 200milion population...when you have a shrinking middle calsss and much of the population in abject poverty, the only thing that grows is corruption because people had to eat and survive....

start thinking and maybe you will learn

The issue is that the 650k is not feasible. Govt is already borrowing to pay make up for the budget deficit as it stands now. Can fuel station attendants, shop sales people and drivers be paid 650k in the private sector.... How much do most private establishments make sef?

There is actually no quick-fix solution.
Govt needs to seriously sit up & start addressing all the various factors contributing to high inflation.

If prices of things get that low, do you think minimum wage will be 20k?

What the government should be doing is to stop pampering oil thieves, true federalism(where states control what they produce) should be practiced.

Anything produced should be enough for local consumption & export so as to earn foreign exchange. That every state is waiting for oil money to be shared is what is killing the country. Where happened to the cocoa in the west? What happened to the groundnuts & other agricultural products in the north even the oil producing states aren’t left out. What happened to the palm oil industry in the south east & south south?

If we don’t produce & earn foreign exchange I’m afraid it will only get worse.

They re not meant to rule a place like Nigeria . They are meant to retire. But because of Thier selfishness, they won't stay back. Everybody dey fight for him head. Even peter obi is clueless.
