He is not applying for student visa and he doesn't need that much in his account to be able to get visiting visa.

He obviously does because he's been rejected. Nobody wants a "visitor" from naija who'll now claim refugee and cost the government more money to process than the little hotel money he'll be spending. He's not the first "visitor" who doesn't plan on returning.

Hotel reservations can easily be cancelled online. How does that prove he'll most likely return ? When you go and ask for a visa ask yourself how can I prove to them I'll definitely return. A hotel reservation and a letter talking about what sites you'll be seeing doesn't mean you'll return especially when you're from a 3rd world country. The concept is not hard people.

Yes bro I show my personal Bank account with my co-sponsor Business account who is my uncle,he is a car dealer ,he gave me his original CAC certificate with previous Bill of Ladin of cars bought from America,he also stand as my employer.... I also got travel histories with 3yrs living in the UK and still got more than a year UK visa valid till date ,I had been to Belarus for 6days too. Am currently studying in National Open University of Nigeria and I included all prove of current registration and receipts. I also included my share certificates and personal investment and my landed property document ... Pls guy advice me on whta to do next.

I want the experience pple in the house to guide me before I fill the form. Meanwhile I was intending traveling to Dubai for the break before deciding for Canada as I know it will expose me better my leave is to be 30 days and I'm not intending to stay longer.Thanks

@Bostin I think what you need to show it's a genuine reason of why you actually wanted to visit Canada. I would suggest you try and get someone to send you an invitation if that could help you. It seems they thought you don't have a genuine reason enough.

Please how soon can I reapply that it won't look desperate?though the said I can reaply if my story change or have new documents to summit. Do I need any letter of explanations to back the new invitation letter..

I will suggest one thing, don't rush and take your time especially this time around. I want you to target a festive season like coming easter and shot on that. If that made sense.

What are your ties to Nigeria? Are you married? Do you have kids? Do you have a job with good and fat pay? Do you have properties in your name? Are you involved in any notable community or social activity that requires your presence all year round?

If your application does not convince the VO you will leave Canada, don't waste your time.

You have demonstrated through your application that you can't take care of the expenses you will incure. Don't risk a 2nd application until you have a very good reason to visit.

Yes you def need one if you are Nigerian (except you already have a US B1/B2 visa)
Either apply via the US embassy/consulate or cancel your ticket and get one that doesnt stop in the USA.

The most important thing is to prove to the Visa Officer beyond doubt that you will return. Believe me, they are smart and know all the tricks people use. Have your friend send you a detailed invitation letter, he/she can also improve your chances of getting a visa if he/she includes their statement of account balance and guarantee that you will return to Nigeria after your visit. Also, have your company write a letter to the VO with details about your job position, and accrued annual leave and when you are expected back.

If we all start respecting other people's rules getting visa into that country will not be difficult. I will always return after my visit and I NEVER work while in Canada, NEVER, because the law says "I cannot work without a permit". It's not like I am rich or something...No, I just violate rules even when in Nigeria, I don't violate them.
If you have all these details, your chances of getting the visa will be higher. VO is more interested to know that you will leave their country after your visa than the amount of money you have. They want you to bring money and spend in their country but leave after you are done...

I have 2 Surveys (red copy) of lands in my name and an written affidavit of a co director for my brother's business. I want to apply for Canadian visiting visa to stay for only 7 days which the purpose is for an academic conference (4 days conference) and I will be presenting as well. Like how much will be enough for the SOA for a week trip because I'm intending to show a fixed deposit of about 2m in my name and maybe 2k usd in my foreign bank acct. Also what other document is necessary for my application? thank you response.

While I am not a Canada VO, can just give my perspective based on personal experience.

As you said "Purpose of Visit" was ticked as your reason for refusal. Based on what you said you submitted, my understanding is that the VO did not believe you were genuinely going to Canada for a vacation as you claimed.

One major red flag is having a co-sponsor for a vacation, especially when the co-sponsor is not your husband or wife. Or in the situation if you were a young student, perhaps a mother or father.

Legitimately, as an adult, if you are truly venturing on a vacation, you should be able to afford it.

If you plan on applying again, you should ensure you have enough funds to sponsor yourself on this vacation. For a Canada visitor's visa, they are really BIG on home ties and finances - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-who.asp

Right now, it seems as though your previous app was weak on both. e.g Using a co-sponsor for finances and also your present activity being an Open University course. The VOs know what Open University is. It is very different from if you were enrolled full-time in a traditional university for a Masters or PhD course.

Address these loopholes and refire. Good luck.

Based on what you have said, it looks promising. These Canadian VOs are so meticulous so you have to take time to complete your app and provide all necessary documents which illustrate home ties, purpose of visit and financial capability.

- Completed Canada visa forms
- Letter of Invitation from Conference organizers clearly stating that they are legitimate org in Canada, that they have invited you for the conference, stating what you will be doing at the conference, outlining if they are covering your costs etc....
- Letter from your uni confirming that you are a current student
- Photocopy of current uni ID card
- 6 months bank statement (there is no minimum amount but if you are sponsoring your trip, you should clearly be able to afford it)
- If you are studying abroad, copy of study permit or visa of the country you are based
- Hotel booking for your stay in Canada (dont pay o, just reserve)
- Photocopy of all previous visas - Germany, UK etc...
- Letter of Intro - VERY IMPORTANT. A concise letter to the embassy introducing yourself (current role - student, background etc...), why you are going to Canada, why this trip is relevant to your academic/career future, why you will come back etc...

Additional Docs
Yes the docs you mentioned will be useful to show home ties but also do not overdo it so you do not unnecessarily complicate your app. e,g I do not think the co-director affidavit is relevant to this case but it is your choice.
These seem to help
- Land Surveys in your name (shows investments in Nigeria and home ties)
- Best paper award in manchester etc... (reinforces purpose of visit)
- additional bank accounts - the fixed deposit (but when is it maturing? will you have access to the funds for your trip?) and foreign currency account (hope you also have money in your other accounts as stated above because only 2k dollars cannot cover the cost of your trip).
