They did not build an entire new coastal roads in those countries. They expanded it, especially the Togo side and maintained it. Maybe if we maintained our existing roads, the idea of new coastal roads won't cause much divisions among us. Moreso, those were funded AfDB.

Alhassane Ouattara that is building an entire new coastal road that will pass from Assinie mafia down to Noe at the western border still has the old road in this almost perfect condition.

.....FG is in talk with AfDB to be responsible for our counterpart-fund. Very likely FG is refunded every penny spent on the Project by the Bank. Their President, Adesina, is much more interested in the Project.

Something has to be done about these Hausa guys that move around with dagger like it's nothing...second person in my area that Hausa guys are killing in the space of less than a week, the first was a bike accident, the perp ran away when he threatened those that tried to catch him with his dagger, and the second murder was straight up daggering over a disagreement.

15tn naira is 11.5bn dollars. That's a whole lot of money and I really can't understand how it's affordable for the contractor cheesy

I hope you're right and this doesn't turn into an abandoned project.

The goal of the project is not just road. It's about opening up new frontal along those coastal cities that the road will pass through.

I know that Oyo Ogbomoso road and if I will ask you and reason like you, there was an old road that connected Ibadan to Oyo to Ogbomoso to Ilorin through Eye nkorin, to Niger was the old road which connected the Sputh to the North, was this road in best condition before they embarked on the new road that Obasanjo announced in 2000?

Next the road that went from Ibadan to through Kogi to the North was an alternative to the old Oyo, was that old road in perfect condition before they built the new one through Kogi?

Good you know and that is why i am also asking you if you will leave your faulty car unattended to buy a new car as a way of saving?

When Buhari started construction of the 2nd Niger Bridge, were there no other bad roads in the country need fixing?

Every administration will prioritize road infrastructure based on the agenda of that administration especially as it relates to federal roads.

Buhari set up the Presidential Infrastructure Fund during his time to cater to road projects like the 2nd Niger Bridge and completion of the Lagos to Ibadan expressway.

This coastal highway will have it's own dedicated funding arrangement likewise all other new infrastructural projects.

The yearly ministry of work budget already usually covers most of the existing roads repairs and maintenance.

Building the coastal highway will not stop the Oyo - Ogbomosho road from being completed.

We sometimes need to elevate the level of discuss we have here from being too pedestrian.

I have been asked what is the economic importance of the 2nd Niger bridge which multiple administrations made a campaign point for decades until Buhari solved it

Yeah by repairing the old car you can continue driving the 1980 model repaired car in 2024 and wonder why it's breaking down every 3 weeks

......FG is funding the Roads Projects with 3 models [the ones I know for now].

PIDF - Abuja to Kano; Lagos to Ibadan; and 2nd Niger Bridge.

HDMI - Benin–Asaba; Abuja–Lokoja; Kano–Katsina; Onitsha–Owerri–Aba; Shagamu–Benin; Abuja-Keffi–Akwanga; Kano–Maiduguri; Lokoja–Benin; Enugu-Port Harcourt; Ilorin-Jebba; Lagos-Abeokuta; and Lagos-Badagry.

EPC+F - Lagos- Calabar Coastal Highway.

You know why I like you, you can defend a point and then claim surprise later when there's Bleep up or when the actual stupidity that people are pointing out shows now.

The 2nd Niger bridge you are taking about, how active is it right now compared to the original
2ndly we have alot of roads in the southern side of the country that needs to be fixed and the timeline to fix it is alot faster and would cost significantly less while still delivering the same economic value.

If you people are even claiming that the reason you support this road is because Lagos side will be worked on (regardless of how much it's costing the country) then I will even respect that opinion.
But to be drumming this opinion that it will open economic opportunities because it falls from the sky?
Oya tell me the economic opportunities it will open for locations outside Lagos state.

You can't even guarantee when this project will finish or if the contract can deliver on their end.

Again you people will support rubbish now and cry blood later when the damage is done.

These governors know what effect that road will have on their economy

Very few things open up economic activity in an area like new roads

I remember like 14yrs ago when some heavy roads were being constructed into nowhere. By nowhere I mean where people didn't live much. Today those areas are booming with business and house values have gone to over 5times in this Texas

Same thing check how economic activities are springing up around Moniya train station

The goal of a responsible administration is to open up many areas in terms of economic activities so that everyone won't face just Lagos Lagos.

If you can drive PH to Lagos in 3hrs imagine what will happen to the entire lenght of that road in terms of economic activities

Pdpguy Roland17 what do you think about pro Palestinian protests all over US campuses for the past 3weeks including blocking of roads

Iran China Russia that some of these students weave fantasy about won't even allow such. In Russia many of the protesters would be shipped to warfront, in China it will be another Tienamem square

But you have in America students following police to drag physically

.....this was how some peoples' grannies condemned 3MB when it was being built as monumental waste of funds. Today everyone is making use of the Bridge.

Last time it was shutdown for repair, see lamentations everywhwere on social media. LOL!

I am very certain it'll open up the coastal corridors for huge investments. When Sheikh Al-Maktoom was building Palm Jumeirah like Lagos is doing with Lagos Atlantic City, some would have called it monumental waste of funds, today they are raking billions of dollar every year.

When he wanted to build Seaport, he was discouraged it won't work. He went ahead with dredging and today Dubai is making millions of Dollar daily from the Project.

FG, Umahi, understand economic benefits of coastal road to the country, no amount of wailing gonna stop the project.

When they finish the road many will refuse to use it

I remember the days when on the Lagos bridge it's one day Odd number vehicles next day even number plates vehicles allowed

Many people called it a waste of money when there are other pressing needs
Now the money spent on 3rd mainland have created 10 times in economic activity

But no we shouldn't build new ones by the same people who 2 yrs ago were lamenting why Nigeria does not have such road

Go and read what Kalu has to say about the same Coastal road he was promoting less than 1 yr ago

What changed? Govt decided to implement and construct the road then it becomes a problem

Same way all those who shouted for floating Naira and removing subsidy suddenly turned against it once Tinubu did it

Same way those who clamored for 2nd Niger bridge for 30yrs suddenly became anti 2nd Niger bridge once it's completed

Awon to so wipe Adegun, will also say Adeogun

It's the same way some people were asking what's the rationale behind the Lagos to Ibadan railline when Buhari started it when the Lagos to Ibadan expressway was not yet fixed.

Today the Lagos to Ibadan railline is working and the Lagos to Ibadan expressway is in pristine shape.

You do not have a comeback and it's expected.

Because we are telling you that the country has alot of roads that genuinely can be fixed with this money and then when we have enough, we can face extravagant projects like this.

If you fix the Lagos to warri road right now, you can travel that road in 5 or 6 hours at most.
Because people do warri to benin in 45mins when the road was new.
Lagos to benin is literally 4hrs with a good road, you follow through bypass and that means you are already facing warri which is like 1hr at most.

Another president will be getting the same dragging but guess what, we will never know.

Wooh like I said, you'll defend now and later you'll claim something else when it goes to shit.
