Post the bastards who assaulted the woman to a war zone and they'll soil their pants. This is the result of a poorly-trained, and idle military. Sad to think the fuckers will go free. Have they paid the gal those Naval Ratings beat up in Lagos? |

Let's get every major blogger to carry this story and follow up, make it trend on twitter, let the international community carry this story. Because that's the only way justice will be served, as nigerians are like children, they only behave when everyone is watching them. Start with Linda Ikeji. |

Why post just the victims picture? They've caught the female naval officer, why not post her name atleast? Knowing how things work in this country, I won't be surprised if all she'll get is a transfer or even a promotion(yeah, its that bad here!) |

SO NL IS ALL ABOUT MAKING JOKES AND TRIBAL BASHING ? SO ALL WE DO HERE IS COMMENT AND LAUGH ? WHERE ARE THE LAWYERS WHO CLAIM THEY KNOW IT ALL? THOSE THAT ONLY DISPLAY THEIR LEGAL KNOWLEDGE WHEN POLITICS IS INVOLVED, THIS IS CASE FOR YOU. LAWYERS ON NL FORM A HUMAN RIGHTS GROUP AND PICK UP CASES FROM HERE. THAT WAY OUR VOICES CAN BE HEARD OUTSIDE THIS FORUM. WE THE MEMBERS OF THE FORUM WILL SUPPORT THE GROUP FINANCIALLY, SPIRITUALLY AND OTHERWISE 2 Likes |

ebamma: man i'm doubting this story,a naval officer will not beat you unless you insult himWhat would you do, if someone insult YOU? Beat them to pulp and cut off their ankle? Are you an animal, of the same mold as these ones in question? If the woman is also armed (say a Nigerian army officer) will you be so quick to attack her or is this just how cowardly military training has become? You mean being a Naval officer means you are beast, a low-level simpleton who does not know any other way to settle a dispute than to resort to some barbaric and disgraceful act of decapitation and amputation? I thought Military training was supposed to develop your finer sense, make you less prone to rash behavior and even make your personality more superior such that you dont even react to common provocations? That is what Martial Arts train you to become.....not to use your "ability" to become a public nuisance", which is what most of our military men and women have become. Why is it that its only "unarmed people" that they can confront? Is that not a display of extreme cowardice? Why not pick on someone of your own size or is a Pepper Soup seller now the equivalent of our own Nigerian Navy Personnel? if these cowards in "Military Uniform" are spoiling for a fight, why not confront the different armed robbery groups in Sapele and elsewhere? They are nothing but BULLIES, its only bullies that take on weaker opponents. When did it become the responsibility and duty of armed Military men to "beat-up" civilians when they feel insulted? Where is that written in any constitution? I hope these morons who join the military so that they can brutalize unarmed civilians, know that their days are numbered? The Trend worldwide is that "armed Military Personnel" are subject to constituted civilian authority......and Nigeria would not be an exception. Whoever has the details (name, picture, service i.d., e.t.c) of the woman and her beastly companions, should make it public. This is not just the woman's fight, it is a fight for civility within our society. We cant have "animals in military uniforms, with a gun on their hips", in the name of Nigerian Military. The Military echelon, especially that of the Navy, have been notorious for this sort of animalistic and barbaric behavior, this is an opportunity for them to show how "reformed" they (or some of them) are. They should speedily fish-out these "stains" on their sparkling white uniform. Nigerians should rise-up, stand-up and unite against this sort of brutality, even wild animals to deserve this sort of brutality, much less a human being. Lets put her picture on every conceivable media and let the whole world know and see these animals in military Uniform. Thats for starters. Lastpage. BTW: I am all for appreciating men in uniform,, those who swore to defend the country and its populace but you will agree with me that amputating a woman's ankle is not part of their oath and as such, these Naval Eediots dont deserve any admiration. 1 Like |

I think its high time EVERY ARMED MILITARY MAN THAT LEAVE HIS BASE (BARRACKS OR WHATEVER) TO MIX WITHIN CIVILIAN COMMUNITY, CARRY AN IDENTITY TAG, ON THEIR PERSON. This often repeated case of "UNKNOWN SOLDIER" has to STOP. It is a stewpid excuse for committing atrocities on civilians. Lastpage! 1 Like |

the.game: Excuse......... me please. I guess I didn't read you well. This issue is the same with a man who beats his wife because the wife insulted or slapped him. The best they can do and according to you referring to Naval Officer are well trained, was to ignore the woman, leave her shop and go eat elsewhere. That is exactly what a normal human being whose brain is intact would do. Trading words with her also reduces you to a mad person, but go to the intent of beating, amputating, using and discharging tear gas?? My friend please you just hit a nerve. If the Navy has well trained officers, then the training commandant should be fired. |
Re: Naval Brutality At Sapele by PosCaricature: 9:51pm On Aug 09, 2012 |
It is very simple, a petition should be written to the Naval Base Command, Sapele. Copies of which should be sent to Naval Headquarters & Defense Headquarters in Abuja. Let the family of the victim also contact the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and atleast one of the NGOs specialised in human rights. |
