Why am asking is that I applied under SVP on the 27th of Nov last yr and had my medicals sent (as confirmed by the clinic) on the 12th of Dec.

I applied under VFS in Lagos on 15 Nov. I did my medicals on 5 dec few days after I got a mail to do so. I was granted d visa on 18 dec. its higher student visa. so its streamline which are suppose to be faster... dont panic u will b granted the visa by God's grace

It is advisable to do ur medicals prior to the lodgement of ur visa inorder to speed up the process, and IELTS/TOEFL/PTE is mandatory for the grant of a student visa.

Generally to get a house in Australia you will need at least 100 points of Identification. http://www.dhs.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0019/604711/Proof-of-Identity-document.pdf

However, having the 100points ID does not automatically qualify you for a house. Acquiring a house here is very competitive, in addition to the ID you need positive references from work or previous landlords, most agents/landlords would also like to know that you are capable of paying your house rent, so they would like to know your earning(s) per week/month and perhaps payslips and bank statements.

My advice to you is to look for share accommodation for now, you can arrange that online from Nigeria (Do not send money to anyone) until you have physically inspected and taken posession of the house

You can use sites like www.flatmates.com.au or www.gumtree.com.au Use the the name of postcode close to your uni/tafe to search, then contact the house owner to negotiate as per when you are landing. You can negotiate 1 or 2 months stay during which you look for your own accommodation.

I come to Geelong close to Ballarat from time to time, maybe one of these days, we could have a beer together at the Geelong waterfronts

You must have IELTS before you get eCOE and I don't think it's advisable to go for medicals without been told cos if they refuse you visa, the money spent becomes a waste.

if your school didn't required IELTS, there is no need to write the Exam. Just apply, if they needs it they will ask for it. As per medical, you can do it after you receive your COE. It last for 12 months, so if visa is refuse which we don't pray for u can still reuse it.

Kids above 2 yrs old will pay but not adult fare. Just some discount. If your kid is above 12 yrs old. He or she will pay adult fare.
