I will advice you to complete your study in Nigeria and make sure you have first class or if you have money, you can opt for TAFE. Also, you can only work in Australia with visa that allow you to work eg student visa, work visa and permanent resident visa. How can you get this when you still undergraduate student in Nigeria? I will advice you not to travel to Australia with visit visa in order to work. It can't work. Remember is not USA and UK that people travel with visit visa and work illegally. It is tough in Australia, because australia immigration is stricter.

My dear, take it easy. Try to finish your course of study here in Nigeria first whilst doing underground research you have been doing. Remember that fingers are still kept crossed with the way that Prime Minister Abott or what is his name again is doing as regards immigration now. Na prayer we dey pray say make e no do as e reach so.
Besides, Australian education is not that easy, as far as funding is concerned, the way you are viewing it. The only option I can say is to apply for nursing in TAFE and proceed from there, but I don't think that is good, considering the fact that you are a Medical Doctor in waiting.

I don't know if your degree in Nigeria is recognized here. Go to the immigration website and search for "DOCTORS AND NURSES" that might clarify things.

I had a chat with an English doctor just last week and she is on a working visa. She told me the immi law is getting tighter and tighter that there is no path way for her at the moment to apply for PR. This is an Oyibo born and bred in England and studied there....if English people who are under commonwealth like Australia are finding it difficult applying, how much more a nigerian who studied in Nigeria? You know what I mean?

If you's notice I don't even give advises that much because the rules are changing and I don't know where things stand at the moment

Thank you. I have checked the AMC website and you are correct.Medical degrees from nigeria are not recognised.it was for the same reason that i wanted to begin afresh since it would be a bit easier wiv a medical degree from an Australian university in a regional area like newcastle and if i choose to practice there too. From my research sha, choosing to practice in the city would make it difficult for a doctor to get a PR.doctors working in remote/regional areas are paid more but they are few because nobody wants to specialise in aboriginal health or emergency medicine.well,i don't know how bad the remote areas are and i believe you would know aussie better than me so maybe my research isnt all that correct.. pls how can i get a sponsor? ive got the brains and determination to succeed but no money. cry

Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 6:27am On Dec 21, 2013
Working in regional area with the new changes I don't know your chances of a PR. Like I said I spoke to an English lady who works in regional WA and she cannot get a PR.... She is a doctor

With regards to sponsorship, what are you looking for? Someone to pay your fees for you?
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 6:33am On Dec 21, 2013
Sponsorship for fees? Im sorry but if family members or friends can't help you then I don't think anyone can.

Medicine is expensive, how many people will want to pay the fees for someone who is not their flesh and blood? Even if it's your flesh and blood, how many people in Nigeria can afford that?Im sorry but I can't help you with the sponsorship question. You will have to sort yourself out in that area, only you can research companies or govt help willing to sponsor

To everyone sending me PM's

I have received heaps and heaps of PM's from people, each time I log on there are red alerts showing on my screen.

I AM NOT GOING TO RESPOND TO ANY OF THEM JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW. SOME OF US KNOW WHAT AMERICANVISA DID AND FOR THAT REASON I AM NO LONGER DOING EMAIL MESSAGING. MY HUSBAND IS NOT AGAINST ME POSTING ON THIS THREAD BUT TOTALLY AGAINST EXCHANGING EMAILS SINCE I DISCUSSED AMERICAN VISA WITH HIM.

I'm only posting this so y'all would stop sending me PM's. Thanks

Don't know exactly what you mean by 'not recognized', there are plenty of Nigerian doctors working here in Australia. The thing is that once you are foreign trained, you have to undergo the AMC assessment process before you can practice in Australia. The assessment is in two stages, you have to pass stage one, after that you have to look for work and work in Australia for specified period of time before you can attempt stage two. This is why it is difficult for a lot of doctors to get PR, because once you come in on a working visa a lot of employers would not want to sponsor you for PR. Because this will give the employee the impetus to stand up to them or even leave.

But in any case, you still need to take and pass the second part of AMC examination whether employer sponsored or OYO. You need to pass this exam and have good references from your employer(s) in order to be given full registration by the AMC.

However, I think the Op is too futuristic. S/he would be better off concluding his program in Nigeria. Studying medicine here is very expensive unless you can afford it.

Honestly I hold no grudge. There are certain things I can do and can't do.....the people on this thread were the only ones who were allowed to contact me offline cos I let them...but if you go through my posts in the past even before this thread was started I used to state clearly that my husband was against communicating with people I don't know offline for the safety of the family ..I stated that in the family section lots of times....so when this @americanvisa issue happened he reminded me of why he was against offline communication and I decided to back off.

Like I said, he is not against me being on nairaland or posting on this thread even when I wanted to stop posting here for sometime he told me not to and I also stated that here. The only reason why I posted the above was because I was receiving to many PM's and I did not want people to think I was "ignoring" them

Sorry but I stand by my earlier post....we will all contribute here and learn from here

Hi guys, please I need your contibution on this. I applied for international r/s @ Flinders uni. Whithin 3 days I got this response from them

After careful consideration, we are not satisfied that you meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirements which Universities are now required to consider as part of Streamline Visa Processing (SVP) assessment.  In making the GTE assessment we have considered your previous study, family and employment history and circumstances in your home country.  On the basis of the information provided; the University is not satisfied that you genuinely intend to stay in Australia temporarily.

Seriously I really don't know what the mean by considering my previous study ( I have a masters degree already. Don't know if is a problem

Family- could it be bc am single
Employment history: I have worked with 2 international coy in, Nigeria. Is that suppose to be a problem?

Please guys I need advise on this and how to repackage my application to avoid such kill -joy responses.
