hardbody: Since they are close by, how about you take some pics or record some of those actions and post them here. There are people willing to carry the crusade further. Let us help them to help themselves. All i tend to think is that if you do not take any wrong turn, no LASTMA will arrest you, and believe me i hate them with a passion so i am not making a case for them here. I recall on a certain day when traffic light along Ozumba Mbadiwe turned to Yellow and traffic was still flowing, i knew it would turn to red any moment, and just before it happened, i applied my brakes, well behind the dotted lines. You could see the synchronized steps of the LASTMA guy stepping out to accourst (i am not sure i got that spelling right)me, but noticing i stopped appropriately, he just stepped back again. My point?, much as we hate the bad ones amongs them (and that is like all of them anyways) let us not give them the chance to pounce on us. u can't try such thing in their presence i remember seeing a guy close to tears some months ago just because he was contacted to snap an impounded car (maybe it was meant to show the owner it was seized i cud'nt say) this co called Lastma officials seized and destroyed the film in the camera so trying such is impossible. |

You must be a slowpoke if you believe the OP. The fact is LASTMA is aggressive, but they don't chase you if you don't commit a crime. OP ran the red light and lied. They would have told him his offense. Those guys wait for you to offend and then chase your car and jump inside. I have been a victim. The OP is lying, you psychotic fellow. Oh sorry, you can't analyse a fairytale.
You will be surprised how many Lagosians did not bother to read or understand the new traffic laws. The thing Fashola needs to ensure is that they pay the exact fine. I settled mine for a price lower than the law states. People even bargain on how much they will pay. If you keep believing false tales and breaking the law, you will keep paying 30k, your head and eye go clear ni. Thank you o 2mch. You know it is always amusing when people say they were stopped or harassed by LASTMA and they are always claiming innocence. I have been arrested by LASTMA twice and on both occasions I knew I was guilty. Once for facing oncoming traffic during a traffic snarl, and yes I was actually just heading for a junction off the main road which was a few meters away, but they sprang out from their hiding place and gbam straight to their office. The other occasion was on an environmental sanitation morning at 7.10Am. As an Omo Eko boy, sure I tried to drag with them and all and ended up settling, but to say I was arrested for nothing will be a big lie. Even though the OP didn't state that he broke the law, I ask why exactly was he begging them. LASTMA officials can be a nuisance and are very corrupt but they only prey on people who break the law knowingly or unknowingly. Their methods are crude, but in truth if you educate yourself on traffic laws and exercise some patients, you are likely to avoid their wahala. Ignorance of the law you broke is no excuse o! 1 Like |

Texazzpete ( I remember the superTed of those days with Nostalgia)
I have struggled to make sense out of your post laden with frustration and hate...it is well God will help you over come your pain and frustration
Yes, the commander erred big time by making a false claim because he was briefed wrongly. Are you aware that his men have been fired and will be tried because they misled him and the governor of the state and indeed the various people that had made comments based on his report? again this goes back to my initial remark about people watching movies only and not getting interested in real matters of life. I know because I got interested in the case and sent mails for which I got responses. Please read educational materials that will boost your KNOWLEDGE not vocabulary of swearwords.
O my Gosh, see news item below, The government of Lagos has put up so many road signs and depending on your eyesight or state of Mind, you may see or not see them. Please read educational and enlightenment materials! OPEN your mind to good things stop staying by the side to abuse and criticize.

Tex, in developed climes (SIC) people see the road markings and obey and they do not need a LASTMA to run after them. They have cameras to catch offenders and track them to their homes. Does your house in tabon tabon have a street no? ..... but in Nigeria we are not ready. Again, stop watching movies that are based on fiction. Are you saying when a danfo guy beats the red light the lastma official should go and get a warrant from the court and run back to chase the guy to an unknown address in an unknown street? Vehicles registered outside lagos do not have their information in the lagos vehicle database and even the ones registered in lagos are difficult to track because we are not yet there in getting a national database. You Tex have woken up to abuse and insult and you seem so violent and you expect LASTMA to be civil. of course your cousin, bro, friend , wife , mum are the people in LASTMA not Fashola or Commisioner's children!
Are you aware that Lagos state is massively training the LASTMA guys to ensure they become more civil? see news item below? This has been ongoing if you can only stop watching action movies and watch news or read educational materials.
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=98987:lagos-to-re-train-7-916-lastma-neighbourhood-watch-kai-officers-&catid=3:metro&Itemid=558
The road markings are in the highway code, have you seen one before? again for the past three months the commissioner for transport has been in the news and adverts have been in the media providing enlightenment, have you not seen or heard? of course you are permanently tuned to Africa magic and action on DSTV. Please read and know better! see news item below
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&id=96156:new-lagos-road-traffic-law-
Now, do you need LASTMA to teach you what the road markings and signs mean? did you do a driving test at all to get your DL , no! Blame LASTMA
Do we have bad eggs in LASTMA ...yes , is government trying to clean that up...yes, have they provided the public with means of seeking redress ....yes!! If they get violent with you , report and you have a right to complain if NOTHIng happens. You will help yourself a great deal if you read news, speak with positive people and drop poverty and victim mentality. if you have enough self confidence please call the commissioner and complain or demand to see the LASTMA commander and see if you will not get justice
This na early momo I no fit talk too much . I have a busy day ahead.
Half knowledge and a wrong orientation can ruin a nation which is what I see in your type.......are you in Nigeria at all? If you like call me prick , dolt, slowpoke , bush man or mad man or anything you like at all. I will not insult you cos if a man is having his bath and a mad man takes over his towel, you can risk chasing him and being called a second mad man or stay put and call for help. I choose to remain sane and civil.
Cheers GBAM! Oro yen ni yen! That's the word bro. |

Toks2008: My Story is no different from other innocent victims.
I pulled over at a designated Bus-top, just to see these men appear from no where with towing vans stating that i parked at a bustop. I argued with them that i did not park because my car side glasses were all down and i just left the car for just 2 minutes but all these fell on deaf hears and they succeeded in towing the car to their office.
I went straight to their head office in Oshodi to file a complaint. The PA to the chairman who is well educated agreed that one can pack at a bustop but should not be more than 5mins.
Did he waive the charges? Hell no but he just reduced the fee and all in all, i ended up spending about 50k for an offence i did not commit shuttling from one bank branch to another trying to pay in these crazy fees into the state Govt account. My friends this is crazy. My guy, thanks for providing the clarification above. From the bolded part, parking for 2 mins at a designated bus stop, is ACTUALLY AN OFFENCE. Read the traffic code, you CANNOT park at a bus stop, you can only wait at one. Once you switched off your ignition and left the car, you committed an offence. This law is there to ensure that commuter/public buses are not impeded from being able to use the bus stops/stands for their designated purposes, which is to drop off /pick up passengers. To be honest, you need to be grateful for the guy that reduced your charges as you clearly broke the law! |

See this dolt! Were you under a rock when the LASTMA commander was desperately trying to pin the death of one of his employees on an innocent lady? The commander INSISTED several times that the lady (who was in a parked vehicle) ran down a LASTMA employee and killed him...and then escaped to a nearby estate.
if not for eyewitnesses, this woman would still be on trial for murder!
Tell us the educational criteria that one needs to get to be in LASTMA before you start opening your mouth to spew imbecilic nonsense. If Sanitizing Lagos was their objective, they would have been airing sensitizing information on the radio and TV stations to tell people not to cross those white lines. One-way streets would be marked boldly. LASTMA officials would not be lying in ambush to trick people into breaking the law. In more developed climes, agencies like LASTMA are designed to prevent road accidents and boost public safety. In Lagos state they are a cash generation outfit.
Your problem is that you are a bush man. I do not doubt that you have some money, but that apparently has not taken the bushness out of you. If not, you would not be defending an agency whose agents would forcefully enter your vehicle without a warrant, whose agents would illegally confiscate your car keys.
And going by your reasoning, since the Police have been known to accuse people falsely, even charging them to court wrongly and even getting people jailed on false evidences, we should just scrap the Police and replace them with your village elsers, right |

blink182: u don come again o, because person harass u, u wan kill e full family. Nigerians have no idea what can kill them, yes someone you forced to pay a bribe can trace you home and stab you in a dark street, can burn down your home in the middle of the night, rape your wife if given the oportunity. Dont undermine the extent people can Go to get justice, always bear in mind that it is those same Nigerians that burn a petty thief alive you dare extort? I hardly believe that those corpse on the street or the Mad woman next door are all accidents, things that seem little to you may poise the next man to take it to an unimaginable extent bewared. Do you know that most cultists in our higher institutions still graduate and mix with the larger society? Needless to remind you that some get justice for a late friend for as long as 10yrs after graduation. Be warned!!! Never you fvck with the wrong guy |
