Nice wisdom-packed article. Indeed, he has said it all, the changes must start from you and I first, before we can demand the same from our so-called leaders holding the political offices. Seriously, where do we actually start from should be the NEXT Question. Fellow Nigerians, I know we can still make Nigeria a great nation with our joint efforts. But what is the way forward from here? |

Horus: Many indians who live in Europe bring back their skills and work experience from abroad to India to boost their economy. So that you can kidnap or rob them right.....I have a friend staying In India for the past 3years, and told me he has never i repeat heard about robbery for the past 3years he has been in India, their banks dont have security doors and no police guiding them, and still there is no robbery or any sort.....so lets ask ourselves where did we get it wrong, India dont have any known Natural resources and they are leading the IT and Medical field, even with worshipping lesser gods and deity...I know one thing for sure, its not about what you want people to think you are, its who you really are deep down inside U..... 3 Likes |

@OP, Excellent article, very brilliant! To those criticizing that he did not offer solutions, you cannot recognize solution if you saw one. The author indeed offer solutions. I believe you meant to say he did not present strategies. He is an awakener, not a strategist.....and that is enough in his capacity. ***A thoughtful idea to introduce as a topic of debate in the NL monthly sessions*** 3 Likes |

Shaking my head in terror!! Nigerian youths and their ways!! Kia! Look at the youths complaining that the article is too long! If it was about Tonto Dike or some sensational article, you'll see them dissecting and analysing. Someone has taken time to show us what our problems are as a nation and how we need to put ourselves in order yet the so called "leaders of tomorrow" says its too long! Shame on all of you who complained! Any wonder why people who have ruled since the days of my grand parents are still ruling? They are the ones still making the decisions because they buy and read newsprints and other important articles, sit and discuss news about Nigeria as they break, while the youths would rather read GQ, People's Magazine, True Love and watch all sort of soaps on TV. THERE'S A NEED FOR US AS YOUTHS TO WAKE UP! ITS MORNING ALREADY!! @Topic, So so on point!! 8 Likes |

This writer said all those thing but then fall into the same delusional mentality that he/she was campaigning against. I am a Christian, and nothing can change me from Christianity. But I think that our country is daily sinking into religiosity to the detriment of godliness. Our land is sick and needs healing. “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” is still a saying that is germane to our current situation. We need more godliness than religion; more work and less of hope; and more action and less of words. How can one be more godliness without religion. This last sentence really turned me off from the rest. I think you're also one of the problems we're talking. |

eduson55: Nigeria exports religion, India exports cars Absolute trash. You have said nothing new and even failed to add that the Indians don't go lamenting their situation on the Internet; they simply go do something about it, like working hard at some unusual thing instead of riding okada all over the place in the name of unemployment. To add insult to injury you end your litany of woes by quoting Bible - exactly what the crap you have written condemns ; and a typically Nigerian response to practically everything.I am sure you have never been out of Nigeria else you should know that much of your assertions about India exists only in your head. And for your information Nigerians also own strong businesses in other countries.I know you will ask next why not in Nigeria? That is their own business. Everyone has the right to take their business anywhere they wish. It is a free world. 1 Like |

Jyde89: All i can say is, o God of creation; make our course a noble one, guide our leader's right and enlighten our youth's the more. May we grow in love and honesty and live in justice and truth, may the of wind reorientation sweep through this country and heal us all, may our flag once again be the toast of all. And may your peace and justice reign in my country...... Amen, i've vowed never to speak ill of my country again regardless of her many short coming's, so help me God.Shtaaaap!....You think God will come down and help U, thats our problem in this country, we attach everything to God, a student that fails and exam will shout GOD! why me...whereas when his mates are working hard hes playing, and besides God does not have anything to do with evil, most Nigerians are evil, even some religious people, you cant trust them with anything, India is a country you will find a mosque beside a shrine and they live in peace and harmony and they love their country to the heart, our leaders has failed us, we are 100yrs behind our peers, and since you vowed never to speak ill for your country, its people like you that makes this country worst to this extent, when good people keeps quiet & does nothing, its an invitation for bad people to thrive....ITS TIME TO SPEAK UP....either with revolution or whatever and lets our voice be heard. 1 Like |

AjanleKoko:Surely they will have normal security doors with metal detectors....but what am saying is that, their is nothing like robbing of banks, blowing doors with dynamite, overnight robbery, kidnaping, and robbing in broad day light despite their population, i know what am saying, the crime rate is extremely low compared to nothing, most indians are contented with their lives, either they have a car or not, and cuts the cloths according to their sizes... 1 Like |

esere826: *clears throat* Which kain fine article. More like a sentimental rant. India that broke into Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka? India is not a united nation o. Though I will give that Indians are generally more creative and entrepreneurial than Nigerians, and know how to create opportunities wherever they are. But the social, political, and economic challenges they face are exactly like ours. India no get power supply na. They are also kings of corruption. The really developed countries are mostly in Western Europe, Australasia, and North America. Japan, Korea, and recently China are the new kids on the block. Most of the rest of the world are shi.t.ty places and one-trick ponies. The Caucasians have a virtual lockdown on global progress. |

I completely disagree with you on the trash you are writing up there comparing Indian and Nigeria, you can compare better and more developed countries with Nigeria and I will reason with you but not Indian, where are you getting your baseless facts from? The only area where Indian seems to be ahead of Nigeria is in their Population size and in ICT. In terms of poverty level, Nigeria is not as poor as Indian. The number of Indians you find in Nigeria collecting and jostling for the few highly skilled existing jobs cannot be compared to the number of Nigerian you find in Indian or anywhere else. I will want you to do your research very well before you put up your write up please. |

Horus: Who is a "Nigerian"? Nigeria itself was a bad idea of some old brit and the history of the country doesn't evoke any sense of loyalty so why would someone living relatively comfortable in another country go back and live in a dysfunctional society with pervasive ignorance? Who wants to return to the ignorance, excessive religiosity and tribalism of Lugard's brain fart? Most of the people think like slaves anyway..... Horus:My brother, its not sabotage, its called the FACT, and serious country will takes the security of lives & property of its citizenry very important, their is a particular state in the US that spent 90% of its budget only on security, we live in a country where everybody wakes up in the morning and have to thank God for waking up peacefully and pray to see the next day...live is not suppose to be like this , Is this how people in other country live their lives? where you cannot send your kids out for an errand without waiting for them by the road and sight-trailing him/her....there is not security in this country, as for me i still believe security is even more important than constant electricity supply, how can Nigerians in the diaspora bring back their skills when their is no security, no emergency services in place, nothing everything is just falling like pile of cards, as for me i cannot encourage Nigerians in the diaspora to come howe now, definitely not at this time, for the sake of their dear lives, recently we all read in the news about a Nigeria US businessman that cames back to Nigeria and was kidnap and murdered the following day...firstly we have to setup an efficient foundation for a successful economic growth, and for this, our leaders have no idea, everything is misplaced priority,.....renovation the same car park every year for 3billion naira, after we laid the foundation, if we can, then everything will surely fall into places. May God bless Nigeria.... 1 Like |

The Op is both confused and deluded. why would someone conclude such a brilliant write-up with repentance and prayer of forgiveness as the solution to our problems? you don't need God to know that that what is morally right is right and wrong, wrong.fine you need to repent of your sins but that's for your salvation.God has given us Brains to Use for our development. most innovators are atheist. I'm not saying its bad to believe in God but we need a balanced view of religion. religion is for your salvation not for the development of your country. Religion is the opium of the poor and anti-innovations it finds reasons for everything and makes people to place there expectation on hope and miracles instead of hard work and intellectualism. we need to be realists Nigeria will not change by any Miracle from the Almighty It will changed by our collective hardwork and brilliance. 1 Like |

Nigeria has all what it takes to be great! We have the human capacity, resources and technical know how. But too bad, we have people who have no business in government, in government. Similar the computing word! Garbage in, Garbage out! Until, we get rid of those inept, unqualified, low IQ leaders in government. The nation will never move forward. We need intellects to occupy position of leadership in this country!.. Just imagine brains like Wole Soyinka, Donald Duke, Victor Attah, Ojukwu of blessed memories, Fashola, Bola Ige, Chinua Achebe and many others too numerous to mention! You can imagine what a great nation " Nigeria" would be! 3 Likes |
