Very good, yet we should try and do right things at right time. Two days after the commissioning, the terminal was not put into use and passengers were sitting under makeshift canopies/tents outside the terminal while finishing was going on in the terminal. Why not wait till the terminal was fully ready for use before commissioning / going to press? All the same, good job.

Is this Otuoke international airport? This thing is substandard for real. This is in no way fit for an airport like MMIA.

Honestly those Abuja folks know us Nigerians well. They "package" a shiny building exterior and all of a sudden accolades start flying out from everywhere. Next thing GCON, GCFR, Honorary Doctorates etc.They have been swindling us for 50 years and Nigerians (3rd generation) are still falling for it. For me,I'm not impressed with all the "shine shine" effects when the practicals have not been addressed. I use that airport twice a week and have done so for the last year. I urge everyone that has the opportunity to go and get a close up look at the "Made in China" effort. For example: 1. As asked by @Daywatcher - where are the new conveyor belts?? 2. When are we launching the full body scan machines to curb terrorist attacks (they were bought for millions of dollars and dumped years ago) 3. When will the security personnel be trained on how to scan hand luggage properly (they allow liquids and pastes of any quantity in hand luggage) 4. Why are people STILL not allowed in the waiting area to welcome passengers (Nigeria is the only country in the world where that happens) 5. In 2012, why have the building designers installed about 20 panasonic ACs hapharzardly in the new wing instead of installing a single central AC unit?? If Palms mall etc can install a central ac to cool a mall, why cant the FGN install one for its airport? 6. Why cant the designers install non-slip commercially enforced tiles? It was raining a couple of days ago and as we came into the hall from the tarmac, people were slipping on the "shine shine " tiles like it was an Ice-Rink. Please let me stop here as there are too many issues, but final point - we must not accept mediocre performance from our leaders. Our projects rank as some of the most expensive in the world, so we must have 100% implementation...no less.

This airport cannot even compete with Oliver Tambo Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. Let us not even talk of JF kennedy airport, Heathrow Airport or even Schipol Airport. What I'm expecting should be a complete remodelling and expansion of MMIA structure, not the minor adjustments I saw a few weeks ago.

FASHOLA will do 20 times better than this. They have spent billions 'pabel-beating' a building and you just wonder what the noise of the commissioning was about!! When did you take your car for a second dedication just after asking your mechanic to panel beat and re-paint

Commissioning? What about the scaffolding above the entrance. The frontage is an eyesore with broken cobblestones and mud! Is it that our expectations have been driven so low that we rejoice over a patch patch, half finished job like this? And what is the Minister of Aviation's photograph doing in the departure lounge? What a country!

That new Airport Terminal is a big joke but its not coming as a surprise

What a disgrace! Commissioning a terminal building yet uncompleted, and of very low standard and yet calling the whole world to dinner. Yet you have supposedly sane Nigerians here calling this an achievement. Such a Terminal belongs to 1984 era of Airports....

Did you guys notice the quality of the material used in the framing stage? To make matters worse, they were put together with a high level of Neolithic incompetence and devoid of anything decent in a construction industry. Every step they took was devoid of any known standard. A friend of mine did his safety project there and what he noticed was a shame. He talked to the construction workers there and they were neither issued safety shoes nor helmets and not even other basic personal protective equipment. Heaven knows how many guys there had their lives had made more difficult through unnecessary injuries during the construction stage. Basic electrical standard terminations were like a dream out there. It is fully clad now and looks like a master piece which it is not. Edifices like this should be given to reputable companies because they portray the image of the country to first time visitors. I bet with the amount of money used here, Nigeria could have gotten something close to what obtains elsewhere. Now the question is "What is the life span of this building"?
