afam4eva:'taa' cannot stand on its own and mean 'si ebea puo'. 'Taa' is an Igbo exclamation word, it can be used before any word or sentence to show how serious and resistance u are e.g taa mma gi ura ee,taa i na-ayi ara,taa onweghi ihe na-eme etc. |
Re: Igbo learning thread + Translator by Afam4eva(m): 2:46pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
Chukskalidon:People use the term alone when they have nothing to add to it..."ta" on it's own also mean get out. |
Re: Igbo learning thread + Translator by ifyalways(f): 2:57pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
Afam, no. "taa" alone is not and can't be "get out". Its just a prefix and is basically a mere exclamation sound when its used alone. Taa gbalaga Taa gbafuo Taa si ebe a puo etc are all sentences on meaning "just get out" or better still "fvck off" Taa can also be used in a conversation in place of "no" or to say "I disagree" but all in all, "taa" is a prefix and makes more sense/conveys a direct message when used with other words. |

Re: Igbo learning thread + Translator by EzePromoe: 4:49pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
Taa is one of the exclaimatory Igbo words which other examples are Chei! Ewo! Chai! and so on. People use taa only. As an Igbo person, when someone says taa to you, you don't need any soothsayer to tell you that the person is in disagreement with you or what you're doing. |
