Because the walls doesn't appear to be painted or what?

I dont think it is about the wall, but for sure that hospital is not up to standard by any means, so sad but like someone said, it is not aboout the hospital but about the deceased.

My dear, everything is Wrong with that hospital picture, have you been to any well equiped hospital before, definitely NOT what seeing in that picture.
. That picture shows someone lying on a bed and it's not even a full shot. You can't see anything around her in that frame..I'm not saying that the hospital is well-equipped or not,I'm saying that you can't base your judgement like that poster did,on that frame..It's just a negative mindset that people have, nothing is good in this country,it all has to be US or Uk..We don't know what she died of,but already people are assuming that the hospital is bad..A classmate of mine died last december in the Uk during childbirth.Strange, but true.
The reason teaching hospitals seem to have lots of deaths is because of late presentations.Though, that's not the case here.

UCH is the best hospital in Nigeria today in term of expertise and service delivery. It was rated the 3rd best in commonwealth in the olden days. No doubt the hospital is now the ghost of it formal self. That not withstanding, it is still a place where the best could be had as far as health is concern in Nigeria today.

A woman should not die via pregnancy related causes because pregnancy is never a disease. What do you expect a poor Dr, who has gone to the breaking point of improvising ,to do in the face of non-availability of basic medical equipment?

Nigeria is a joke with joker citizens.

Yes you are right but I'm sure she wouldn't want us to just look on and go away. So we should look away till it becomes other peoples turn. This are the reasons why the hospitals are the way they are.people like you like to settle for less you accept anything they throw at you.I didn't hear Bill Clinton flying to Nigeria for a medical check up.Do you know how many Nigerian doctors work in foreign hospitals? thousands so tell you think if the once in Nigeria have the right tools they wouldn't safe lots of life they will. If patients get headache she is flown to Germany everything is abroad when are we going to value ourselves? You learn from every mistakes you make, we need to learn from this.

I am glad you said that too, though, never been to that hospital before and have no idea what it looks like or what it ever looked like, but from what i see in that pix, it is nothing to write home about, the lady is movie star and i will ASSUME that she gets one of the good rooms of beds, imagine a pepper seller on the road in her situation.

You need to go around some places whenever you are home. It is highly disheartened that google may not help in research about majority of things about Nigeria as well as most African countries. The reason being that Aficans don't do research and some that do put away their findings in one rusty bookshelf so render it useless and unavailable to the people.

UCH has befitting provision for admission and treatment for whoever can afford the expenses. If I'm not mistaking, daily fees is about 20k apart from the cost of the treatments. One can incure as much as 500k in a week. So to cut the cost, the majority opt for the general and open ward with up to 20+ beds.

I know that health provision should not be a luxury but necessity and people should be equally handled no matter the different in status in the society. But, the way our society is skewed do you think we can achieve this in a shortest time possible? NO.

did someone really really ask what is wrong with that hospital - oh gosh - anyway when someone has not seen a patient in a decent hospital hooked up to all sorts of machines monitoring them you can't really blame them.

apart from the dirty walls is that kind of bed normal to you for a hospital - even my two year old knows that picture looks abnormal

How is the wall dirty
Are we looking at the same picture
You folks should stop
Is it the device you folks are browsing from or what?
I see a wall paper on that wall with a brown background ,some darker brown and a greenish color too
What has this wall got to do with anything?
Re: Last Photo Of Bisi Komolafe In Hospital Before Her Death by Nobody: 12:44am On Jan 03, 2013
if the wall is not dirty then the paint colour is off key, my dear look that doesn't look like a modern hospital abeg

Look the walls matter I'm not going to tell you that I'm a doctor when I worked at a world class hospital I'm not telling you the name of the hospital but its was in Europe. I was a cleaner in the hospital yes I said it and I'm proud of it. I leant a lot from doctors some of them like chatting with me because I want to learn and see what I can't take home to Nigeria. We where trained about infections and all that everything does matter in an hospital because a patient can touch the walls and it can Leed to anything most infection which could be dangerious if you don't know now you know.

I'm not a med o but from personal observation most hospitals choose bright colours for their walls, most often cream white or white. Maybe that explain the dark background. There is no doubt that the background is not helping the impression of healthcare in Nigeria which by itself does not have a good rep either.

.. People like you make me laugh..You probably live in US/Uk and come online to see the sorry state of things in Nigeria, and make snide remarks..it makes you feel good right?I know what a well equipped hospital looks like and I know that a good percent of our hospitals are not well equipped BUT we make do with what we have,we save lives with what we have..The lives that we save don't make the news, only the ones that we lose do..People then come and say rubbish as if deaths don't occur in US or Uk. The only way our hospitals will be better is if more of our leaders die(yes,I said it),die in them.Maybe, then, funds will be allocated to equipping the hospitals.Sadly, for now,it's the poor that utilize the facilites.
Till then, you diasporans can continue to turn up your noses at the "pathetic state of our hospital walls".We will continue to do our best with the resources available.

Mr slim fit, are you back in Nigeria now? If yes, pls how many hospital have you visited and stay to observe how things go?

The commonest ailment that force people to the hospital here in Nigeria is malaria especially among the children. Do u know u can successfully treat an uncomplicated malaria with just #250 only with complicated ones ranging between 1-10k depending on what you are dealing with.

Do you know people prefer to engage in self treatment and sit at home because majority does not even have #100 to transport them down to the hospital. When the complication set in, you have them running to see a Dr begging for a free treatment pending when the money would be available.

What you don't know is that a serious effort and lot of sacrifice keep those hospital standing today. Government is not serious and majority of our people are also very poor.

I believe your last salary in that hospital where you were a cleaner would be more than what the majority of Drs are earning today in Nigeria. How do you want a limited resource that is not even enough for the smooth runing of the hospital to go into wall painting?

Death is inevietable and a common destiny for all...it is not a matter of hospital,or specialist. UCH is one of the best hospital we have in Nigeria.if it was so,Yar'Adua couldnt have died,Stella Obasanjo couldnt av died also.Even d so call Doctor will die.Doctors care, while God heal

There r very few hospitals in Nigeria that can pass for a clinic(I'm sure there's a difference)most of them that hv the 'specialist' signs in front shud not even be called drug stores.everyday we step out and get home wtout incidents is a miracle,I'm scared of even a head ache because sincerely I know wrong diagnosis has killed more Nigerians than hiv.
May she rest in peace

Sorry don't we all know its and insult for all these government officials to be flown to foreign land for treatment. Its an insult to us I know they don't have shame but I'm always ashamed of myself when ever I see them.Do you know how much this people pay to use these foreign hospitals thousands of £ and $. These hospitals always pray for Nigerian government officials to get sickness they know its a huge pay for them foreign exchange. The money goes back to buying better and upgrade there equipments every year not after 2 decades.its not the right place to talk about this but where is the right place till another preventable death comes again. People I don't have to do this, but I care so much to look away an not say anything.

That is a teaching hospital ,one of the best in Nigeria
Supposedly where all the specialties that could save her are under one roof
I wonder what she died of
Most deaths in Nigeria are man made and preventable

I told someone that I have been the USA donkey years I have never heard of a woman that died in childbirth or from pregnancy complications
Not a single one I know,co worker o,church member o,friends o,neighbor o
I neither know one or ever heard of one from anyone I know
Yet it is everyday news in Nigeria

It may have been an ectopic pregnancy. Her fallopian tube probably ruptured hence the need to remove the foetus. It's can be very fatal.

Usually, abroad you never really hear about women dying from it because the foetus is removed very early.

don't laugh too much o - where did you deduce from my post that I am turning my nose up - its this manage manage mentality that makes people put up with sub standard infrastructure.

should i now apologise that I live abroad and have access to good hospitals - I will not.

Even if Goodluck dies tomorrow it will not change anything cos from my obeservations its every man for him self - was his wife not sick - has there been any drive to improve healthcare for women since she came back - no instead Patience is probably recommending the German hospital to all her friends instead of advising the Minister of Health

another thing I don't need to see pictures online - i experienced the WONDERFUL healthcare when I was in Nigeria - when doctors where treating me for malaria when I was pregnant and giving a pregnant woman in her first trimester sleeping tablets, plus many other episodes
