@ chy chy You said something about paying tuition fees to your school, was it the full tuition or half? Did you pay before your visa application or during? Conestoga college states that your program HR is one year but you said 6 months please clarify for me. Congrats again. |

Greetings loved ones. Please for sponsorship from the office, what documents does the office need to submit? Secondly, how does the Canadian High Commision expect a company to release its original Certificate of incorporation, can't they collect certified copies or photocopies. Thanks |
Re: Travelling To Canada by chychy2: 12:29pm On Apr 23, 2011 |
@ mality thanks n definitely urs will be granted. wow uni of dal, culd u sent ur email becos dat is d sch i intend coming to after i am through wit my post graduate course. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by tosinosho1992: 12:37pm On Apr 23, 2011 |
@ Cuddlemii, I don't think you need the original certificate of incorporation. All you need is a copy signed and endorsed with the company stamp and seal. For the question on the type of documents to show, it really depends on the size of the company, and whether it's limited or a public liability company. If big and plc, a letter carrying the registration number of the company, signed by the board of directors, and a copy of the company's audited financial statement for the year before should suffice. If the company is small, then expect to put every thing including company's bank statement, and the organisational chart, and why the company is willing to sponsor your studies. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by Cuddlemii: 1:57pm On Apr 23, 2011 |
tosinosho1992: @ tosin Its a limited liability company. Its a tax consultation company incharge of akwa-ibom, delta and now included Kogi State internal revenue service, easyreg as in car licensing, land ( like LIRS that gives cards for tax clearance). It has an MD and 4 directors. I was thinking of A sponsorship letter from the company, A study leave letter, companys bank statement, tax clearance, companies registration papers. I dont even know the documents that a limited liability has or not (should have paid more attention to commerce in secondary school), lolz I dont wanna push too much cos they are just doing me a favour, usually they dont give study leave so I am the first so I need to be reasonable with my demands. So what do you think? |

Re: Travelling To Canada by tosinosho1992: 6:04pm On Apr 23, 2011 |
@ Cuddlemii, The documents you mentioned are ok, but the most important thing is to justify why the company has decided to sponsor your further education. You should be prepared to address the following questions in your statement of purpose(SOP). Why is the company sponsoring you?, does the company has the financial solvency to take care of your expenses?, how would you be of importance to the company upon the completion of your studies?, why did the company decide to preferentially select you amongst other member of staff (your record, achievements, antecedents, length of service? e.tc), Has the company sponsored any other member of staff previously?. If you can answer those questions honestly, you would have succeeded in proving your financial solvency, and ties to your country. You have to understand that you would be using funds from the company's account, so it has to be authorised by all the members of the board. Since most companies are out there to make profit, the visa officer should be convinced that it is very profitable to invest in your studies. In addition to the documents you mentioned, I would advice you to include an audited financial report of the company. This provides an independent report of the company's financial strength, plus it carries every other information about the company. Good luck. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by Cuddlemii: 7:05pm On Apr 23, 2011 |
@ tosin Wow, hope my company will accept all this lol. It is well. I'll work it out somehow. Thank you very much for your response I appreciate it. And hopefully or rather see you soon. Happy Holidays |

@ ashley86, Hi, I guess suggestions from people would not go a long way. You know your criteria and profile, I suggest you start by checking the schools that meet your profile and reading through their webpages. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by tosinosho1992: 1:42pm On Apr 24, 2011 |
@ chizquare, Hey, I'm guessing you're a medical practitioner, If right trust me you don't have much to worry about. The strength of your application lies on your statement of purpose (SOP). It's stale gist that Africans suffer from a lot of diseases and infections, and getting into MPH in Nigeria is a "tug of war". It would be a no brainer for the visa officer to trust your study intentions, even if you decide to stay back in Canada, good for their economy, they need Doctors anyways. Come up with a very good story in your SOP, tell them you were passionate from childhood, tell them Africans need to be sensitized, tell them you were involved in health awareness during your NYSC, tell them Africa is under-represented at the center fro disease control (CDC) arm of the WHO, tell them it's been your passion. Please in your statement include all the -sis, -oma, -ism, -mia, and all the medical terms, after all you spent 7 years to become a Doctor, so you might as well flaunt it. 99% of the times, the visa officer would get carried away by your enthusiasm and command of medical lingo. As for your cousin sponsoring you, you better come up with a good story why he's doing so. Above all. it's all about God. Good luck |
Re: Travelling To Canada by chizquare: 3:43pm On Apr 24, 2011 |
@tosinosho1992 thanks. yes am a medical doctor. and trust me my letter will bambooz the officer with all the medical jargon. i was involved with a lot of extracurricular public health issues during my undergraduate studies and i have certificates for that. i included details of that in my application and letter. as per the story about my cousin sponsoring me, what else other than his family, we grew up in the same household. he sponsored me for a 4 wks elective program at the Newcastle University, UK about 3yrs ago. i also have a 2yrs uk visiting visa in my passport to show them that i am not an "i need to run away to developed counties" wanna be. but do really look at travel history |

@ chizquare, That's good then. They surely look at travel history, it would help your application to a great extent. You have everything going, so you should be fine. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by anfanio: 5:54pm On Apr 24, 2011 |
chizquare, Be specific, clear and convincing in your statement of purpose; do not use medical jargons except when necessary, the VO is neither a patient nor a colleague. If there is no (business) relationship between you and the parastatal your cousin works for, avoid the letterhead. And by the way (tosinosho1992) CDC is not an arm of WHO. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by tosinosho1992: 6:27pm On Apr 24, 2011 |
@ anfanio, Funny you even commented on that, I thought it was common knowledge. No one is saying CDC is an arm of WHO, it was just a rhetorical statement which I'm sure chizquare understands. The statement of purpose should clearly state his future goals and antecedents. I only suggested he includes professional lingo in his SOP. By the way, how would you know the VO does not have the patience to read, do you work with them? |

@ ALL This is my case, and i am kinda confused. I have gotten admission to ULETH to study Mgt as a second degree with major in Human Resources Mgt/ Labour Relations . its a 2.5yrs program cos i was admitted with my BSC. i am still waiting for a response from memorial university for Masters In Employment Relations. The reason is this 2.2 clause. Now i intend to file in my visa application next month but the issue is, i want my husband to come with me as i will be traveling with our 9months old baby. The best offer i got for childcare is $500 monthly which is quite expensive. i will be getting a study leave with pay from my work place ( a state polytechnic as an administrative staff) for the duration of my study abroad. i earn over 100k monthly. My hubby"s job is on a contract basis so no security which is the reason i am thinking he should resign and go with me inorder to care for our son while i go to school and probably work when i return from school daily. pls i need suggestions on how to package my visa application for success. thanks all. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by webstradamus: 5:28am On Apr 25, 2011 |
ashley86: dapsycool: ashley86: CS at U of S is highly competitive. You will need to have a somewhat stellar profile to get in. They hardly admit applicants without a First Class degree. Another thing is the GRE. They say its not compulsory but I'd advise you to take it cos it will give them an idea of your ability in comparison with other applicants. Finally, make sure you get a "willing" supervisor before you apply, it will help a lot. Else you will just be "binning" your application fee among other things. And in case you're wondering, I am talking from experience. What's your profile? I was going to recommend a few CS programs in Canada that I found during my application season, but then cuddlemii already did a good job with that. Generally, your choice of schools should boil down to your profile. Good thing you're still in school, you still have the chance to hit all 'em high A's, I really hope you come out with a First as it will make a whole lot of difference, believe me. |
Re: Travelling To Canada by webstradamus: 5:39am On Apr 25, 2011 |
gel03: Have you contacted the program chair/correspondent directly? If not, call or email them. They would have better info for you about the status of your application. Don't just relax and listen to what SGS says. And as per the 2.2 thingy, don't let it discourage you. If your last 2 years grade is up to 65%, then you stand a chance. Call the program now to know your status, it will help ease your anxiety. |
