janut: Congrats to all who have been called for medicals, just keep faith that you will get your TRV.
Please house kindly assist me on this:
I am in the process of submitting my documents to CDHC for winter 2014, but I am having some concern about proof of funding. I intend sponsoring myself as I have been working now for about 4 yrs, I have a loan from my bank of N2m although it is not stated as education/ student loan, just personal loan. I also have N2m as my personal savings in fixed deposit. The total cost of tuition for one yr is $6763.65(M.Sc. statistics, thesis) in U of Regina.I also intend travelling with my wife for the period. My question now is, do I still need a sponsor or am I good to go on funding aspect? All advise sincerely appreciated.

Loan *Red flag

If I am the VO, I wld deny you for the following reasons
1) insufficient fund
2) intentions
3) you have not convince me u wld return home after ur studies

I wld advise you drop ur wife from the plan, just use her as home ties, she might join u in Canada later....

I also suggest you look for a sponsor to boost ur financial strenght

Yes you can withdraw your application...

The question here is: Why do you wanna withdraw at dis stage?

Send email to Niagara College to learn more about their refund policy.

teapea8484: Pleas house help me out on this issues.. I'm not marry so how am I to prove my Home ties... And how do I prove that I will come back after my study ?

Home ties comes in form of:
1) Family ties
2) Job ties
3) Marital ties
4) Properties/ Investments

In addition to the above, u shld normally opt for programs that follow logically with ur academic background / work experience.

...Tuition is refundable bro....might have to pay a fee for that...like they will deduct fee change from it, but at this stage...u should be able to get full refund since class never start....withdraw your application....once u get a withdrawal letter from CDHC or any slip attached...contact the school that u need ur money back....this is one of the reasons why CDHC advised not to pay tuition unless instructed....

All you need to convince the VO is what you intend doing with the degree you get from Canada and how you plan to apply that knowledge towards making Nigeria better. You necessarily need not be married.

Oh thank you so much for ur quick reply, that means I can put my father landed property in my application, but my dad is not my sponsor, is it possible to put it or I should just put my sponsor landed property alone ? Thanks.

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 5:46pm On Jun 17, 2013
You would be jeopardising your chances if you list your wife in your application that she would be following you. You lose home ties. 2. The fact that you have loan in your account is a minus for you as the VO would think you have another aim for travelling to Canada and not for education, you would be turned down for lack of fund as you wont be able to work for the first 6 months. I would suggest that you cobble the amount together now in one single account so as to make it financially sufficient. I am a self-sponsored and my employer wrote that I would still be in their pay roll during my studies, although I have over $34K plus in the account I presented. I have been called for medical and would have it done this week. Your wife can join you later but now you would have to slug it out ourself. When you are victorious, you can file for your wife.

Greetings Nairalanders -- I've been following this post for a while now and it has been inspiring & helpful. Kudos to you all.

I've just roundup my NYSC & in the process of applying for a master degree in canada, except I've past the deadline for a "Full-time" program in the school I'm interested in, but "Part-time" programs are still available until January 2014.

I'll be glad if anyone can help clarify my uncertainty... I've been wondering if I could be granted a "student visa" on "Part-time" master program application. Thanks in advance.

Yes they can! But it is tied to the principle visa holder in terms of length of time smiley

Why don't you want to wait for the next full-time intake?

@Janut. I do appreciate the fact that u have ask a simple question. Before I comment on those concerns, I really do not understand why some of us decide to demonize travelling with one's spouse. Guys have been applying with their spouse and got visa approved. When we make it sound as mission impossible many will be student get frustrated and discouraged bcus not everybody can travel to study leaving their family. We just need to educate forumites how to go about it. Putting up a very good SOP is one of d best ways to convince d VO that u will come back after ur studies. I know many people that got visa with spouses. It is allowed.
You however need to biff up your fund and never inform the VO that part of the money was loan ad I guess u wanted to use it ad POF and would return it to the bank at visa approval. U will befine with spouse if make those amendment.

@earthgreeners,@hayek,@bumfem, I am really grateful for your candid advise.
I really don't intend to declare it as loan(although it is backed by collateral), but don't you think the VO might raise eyebrows as to lump sum deposit since the money was transferred to my bank from the lending bank via NEFT transfer and no reason came along with the transfer except the loan advice sent to me via email?

Also still on this subject, at least how much do you think would be okay considering that I am self sponsored and my employer is only willing to give me an introductory letter and not a letter stating that I would still be in their payroll during my studies.

On the issue of personal ties to Nigeria, all my family members are in Nigeria and I have my personal building with 'right of occupancy'(R of O) would this readily pass as proof of personal ties to Nigeria.
Once again I would sincerely appreciate all your candid response.

Its possible and I believe you would be contacted and advised to renew (especially when your TRV is about to be issued)at which point you may request to withdraw for renewal purposes. Or you may initiate the request at the appropriate time.

All the best!

i have been following this post for a while now nd just thought ild add ma own little advice.some of us are adding tax clearance reciepts/certificate. however we 4get that we have delcared our assest and money either in bank statements, bonds, shares etc worth over millions of naira and yet in the tax certificate it shows that we paid prolly 1% of a proposed amount which is not our actual value.this is called tax evasion and according to my agent, the embassy can refuse you visa because of this(due to inconsistent monetary values) hence according to my agent, the best way to avoid this is not to include the tax reciept/certificate. hope this helps... cheers!!!

hello house, am just a bit curious, has anybody that has a masters degree that applied for an Advanced diplom been issued a student visa before? i am in this situation altho we all knw the motive is to get a PR in canada.

PS: I submitted my application May 15th
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by bumfem: 9:17am On Jun 18, 2013
@janut, You are welcome. The VO will be suspicious of the source of your fund if it goes into your account in lump sum. U should have made the bank transfer the money into your wife's account and from there move it in gradually. This is more ideal as u will now have a consistent turn around of fund in your account. U can still do this, I guess if ur start date is Jan.
Your statement should be d total sum of your tuition for a year + your expenses, + your spouse expenses + flight bill for both of you. Submitting your land C of O remains a very good home tie. Pls also word them them very well in your SOP. With this + prayers u will be fine.
