GenBuhari: As Petroleum Minister 1976-79 Buhari built 3 of our refineries.

As Head of State he only had 20months and he used his short time to cleanse country of corruption and turned economy around

He meant as Head of State. Was Buhari head of state between 76 and 79. Thought it was between Murtala and Obasanjo. And by the way who said corruption abated under his watch. He went against former politicians of the second republic but no sooner had his ministers settled in the menace took off again albeit in a different manner. There were import quota scandals akin to the present subsidy debacle and so on. Quite a number of his key men are billionaires today. Look my friend, lets just say he tried. Corruption is not a fight of a determined man but that of a determined society and from all indications we are not ready yet.

And as for the economy he left it worse than he met it but I can't blame him for that. The combination of bad Shagari era policies and foreign sanctions esp in the wake of the 'crating' of Umaru Dikko did them in.

Sincere 9gerian:
Pls, help us to answer the question:

Buhari and his party, the CPC, have been in COMPLETE control of Nasarawa state for about 2yrs now. Where are the road construction, the intra-city railways, hospitals modernisation, rebuilt schools, social schemes, reforms, power plants, irrigation schemes, etc? How far with the war against corruption in Nasarawa state? Where are the achievements of the govt? If Jakande, as governor of Lagos in the 80s, could commence a railway project, why not a CPC led govt in 2013? Even if they'r still ONGOING, but where are they? Where are they? Where is the promised paradise?

Simple question demands only a simple answer. We are waiting!

I know the gov has not granted amnesty to a convicted criminal, he does not flip flop on policy issues( (no amnesty to ghost) .Take a trip to Nassarawa which is not too far from the base of the 40 laptops and see things for yourself, the people know they are better off compared to the former PDP gov who has a temporary suite at EFCC . How many PDP Gov have achieved a quarter of your itemized list, PDP has been in govt for eons.

We are on the 12th page already, yet they keep dodging your simple and noble question and they are called 'leaders of tomorrow' undecided the same way I challenged ACN/CPC supporters to mention any known Presidents in the history of this country who has achieved within the space of 2 years as Jonathan, guess what? No answer till now cool

You both are utterly pathetic! Is Buhari the govnor of that state, or are you people advocating he usurped the powers of the state governor?

Such dictatorial politics is only available in the Killer Party where the scumbag forces the govnor of his state to lick his butt and that of his dumpy wife.
How many of the projects u even mentioned are found in Bayelsa state from whence the scumbag comes even though he is the president.

Fvcking deluded sons of biitches.

Sunny_bobo:

Why is it that the region which Buhari governed as a military Governor is the poorest and least developed region in Nigeria today being ravaged by Boko haram?

He had only 20 months as head of state and couldn't execute any single project yet you expect GEJ to perform magic within the same time frame. Is that not double standard? Obasanjo as head of state built the refineries. Buhari was only the supervising minister.
Sunny_bobo, may you walk and never stumbled, may your days be long in the land of the living, may all your enemies fall flat before you and may you be above always in Jesus name! Indeed, too many clowns have invaded Nairaland lately thinking this place is frequented by palm-wine tappers the more reason they spew any form of multi-coloured drivel just to flow along the madden crowd for no plausible reason! I can't believe Nigerian youths (especially southerners) will be yearning for an Islamic fundamentalist as Buhari to be their President, I think history must be re-introduced across all levels of our educational systems for some people here to be liberated! Once again thanks for your brilliant response cool

Culled from another thread :
I realized and got to know that the master-mind of all those developments during his military stint was Brig. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari who was the Minister of Power and Energy during that period.

Buhari it was, being in-charge of that ministry, built all those plants Obj had commissioned and I had visited.

We are also all aware of the magic that same Buhari performed as head the PTF, which ran a parallel government in Nigeria by getting JUST 3% of every litre of petroleum product purchased in Nigeria. Projects started and completed by the PTF are too numerous to mention here.

Buhari has never been indicted by any probe or inquiry as haven stolen any money. We have seen how prudent and useful the ministries and agencies he ran were yet we refused to vote him because we have been fed with lies upon lies that he was a religious bigot, he would make Sharia national thing etc. The cesspool of corruption called Nigeria needs a man in the calibre of Buhari to run her affairs and the funny thing is in our heart of heart we all knew this yet we were afraid to take the bull by the horn and deliver that long-awaited change to Nigeria. Instead

What impact has GEJ made in his few years rule as a president.
-Our elections are more credible. CPC is controlling Nasarawa state today because of credible elections.
- 12 new federal universities have created. It means more access to education for the poor.
- the trains are back. That is cheaper and safer transport for the poor
- the federal highways are getting better. That is less travel time for all and sundry
- our Airports and aviation is better today
- almajiri model schools
- sovereign wealth fund created
- increasing foreign reserve
- stable naira
- better image abroad
- PIB will soon be passed
- freedom of information bill passed
- more funding for higher institutions
- agric reforms
- power reforms, including privatisation
Etc,etc

You can shut your mind to these massive progress but it is happening LIVE

My friend, you suddenly realize you don't have any and probably haven't listened to or read any before. I asked for the link because I know you were simply reiterating things Lai Muhammed mischievously twisted for political points.

I asked this simple questions, they do not require google search nor advance calculus:

1. Will PDP create a terrorist group to fight themselves?
2. Who are those calling for amnesty? CPC/ACN/Arewa, right?
3. Who stands to gain from the actions of BH? Is it not the opposition that is using the insecurity in Nigeria to discredit GEJ?
4. Has Buhari not repeatedly call for bloodshed, lynching and mayhem, if election does not favour him?

stop getting worked up, i'm on mobile, within an hour's time, i'd be online to feed you. Keep your propoganda to yourself, i'll get you what's in public domain. If you can't wait, then just use the phrases i typed on google search for answers.

okwele 1: NO buhari, am saying no boko haram, no to any muslim candidate & No to islam

Nigeria is where it is today because of people like you, when has good governance been about religious inclination.
You said no to any Muslim candidate, are Christian candidates saints.Bad leaders cut across both religions.
Is Ibori a Muslim? What about Cecilia Ibru?Igbinedion nko?
Is Abacha not a Muslim? What about Tafa Balogun?Farouk Lawan nko?
It's time we shunned sentiment and vote for people who can turn around Nigeria.A lot of ppu voted for Buhari and Jonathan based religion and ethnic sentiments and that's why we are where we r today.

A quick analysis of this thread:

Will you vote for Buhari come 2015?

MrA: Never! He'll islamise Nigeria *Religion*

MrB: Mba! I can't vote a Northerner *Tribe*

MrC: Lailai! He is the sponsor of BH *undecided*

You see people, this has always been the problem and greed too. The politicians know this, and are always quick to play that card. To manipulate us.

Is it possible to "islamise" Nigeria? Sincerely? How is this possible?

Again, at this stage that we are? Origin > Credibility? The white folks that voted Obama, did they because he is black? The southerners that have been president, what has been their contribution?

The last reason is laughable grin shocked You think GEJ wouldn't have swooped on his behind?

But I see the trend, it's about tribe, it's about religion. GEJ can't rule his sitting room, but because he's a Southerner, YES he'll get your votes. Moreso, he is a christian! How nice?

Anyway, as far as I am concerned, if it takes a babalawo Nigerian, whose parents are from Niger Republic to bring relief to my family and I (IDK about yours), I shall vote such babalawo Nigerian, whose parents are from Niger Republic.

It is either Nigeria or nothing. As far as it is Nigeria, kindly shove your useless tribalism up your arze. One leg in and one leg out is treason. If you don't want Nigeria, grow enough ballz and ship out!

@OP, as at this moment, any ticket that has Buhari or Fashola or Oshiomole will have my vote, that of my family, my colleagues and friends. We know these men, they have a track record --we trust them.

If it so happens that these guys run on different platforms, then we'll sensibly re-examine and vote the better candidate.

Let me let the GEJ folks in on an open-secret; we have been advising ourselves in small groups; including those who have been to fresh hell and back. You don't know cheesy

Amen my brother. Very few people here know that Buhari was at a time governor of North Eastern state of Nigeria (now divided into Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba states) with Maiduguri ad the state capital. That region is the hotbed and headquarters of Boko haram today due to the millions of Almajiris and illiterates prevalent there. If Buhari had invested in western education while he was governor of the state, those youths would have been somewhere in life today instead of strapping bombs on themselves and blowing people up.

So much for a visionary leader.

What skewed analysis is this? The majority reject him because he's been found to be an empty noisemaker, who overthrew a democratic gov't and is just doing a Romney - just criticizing the current gov't without actually saying what he'll do differently in the key areas.
