aniiseg: Progress report/results wouldn't be bad, this is just my suggestion, its not written in Border Agency website as a requirement, i'm basically suggesting things that could be used as a prove for students. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by jt2010: 4:41pm On Jan 19, 2011 |
@ aniiseg, i think so they shld av finished their exams by then They will surely need to get letter of identification (Introduction) from their university Student affairs Offices address to the UK Visa section. Most unversities both public and private in Nigeria have a standard format /template of such letter, all your sisters need to do to get the letter is to get a letter of introduction from their department plus their Student ID card and submit to the Office of the Student Affair of their univeristy for processing. They will need to submit the letters from the student affairs and their ID card's for the visa processing. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 5:33pm On Jan 21, 2011 |
In 2008 I was in my second year in the university, then I applied for a family to the uk,my uncle in d uk sent me an invitation letter stating that he will be responsible for my accommodation and upkeep throughout my 2 weeks stay, hes is a citizen and owned an accounting firm in the uk prior to this my uncle had earlier invited my mom twice to the uk, and he was also responsible for her upkeep, she returned back to Nigeria, never overstaying on her visa on both trips. Accompanying d invitational letter is his passport bio page (uk passport), in the IV letter my uncle stated he ll be responsible for my accommodation, I also stated it clearly in the form I filled, but I was refused, here is d statement’ in considering your application overall I am not satisfied on d balance of possibilities that u met d requirement of paragraph 41 of the immigration rules HC395 that in your application form that your mother will pay for the cost of your visit, but u never summated any evidence of your mother employment, income, savings, so am not satisfied u will be able to stay in d uk without recourse to public fund. You also stated that you are a student of a university but u never submitted any official correspondences confirming your registration and attendance in the university, so am not satisfied u av social and financial ties to Nigeria to ensure your return. N.B I submitted my school id card, final student clearance, current school fees and dept. receipt. I was told am entitled to appeal the decision, as a result I proceeded to a solicitor, since I believed they were more experience, In the appeal lodged by my lawyer he stated that: am quoting his appeal sent to the ECO’ there decision is erroneous that contrary to the clearance officer findings that I have stated that my uncle will be responsible for my upkeep and not my mum, so them asking for my mums savings, employment or income is totally out of place and also the official correspondences from the school is not among the check list of the application form, so my lawyer concluded that since the information on which d decision was made was on faulty and inappropriate there decision should be reviewed. However, the documents accompanying this appeal sent now included my mums account statement, a letter of consent from my dean of faculty and also my HOD On the 22nd of dec 2008 I got my decision, but am still confused up till date: it reads :the appellant has sought entry clearance, after careful consideration of the application the ECO declared that the appellant has failed all d requirement of d immigration rules for the reasons set out in the attached notice of refusal, your notice of appeal was received at the AIT in Lagos and I am not persuaded by to alter my decision, I considered the local condition of Nigeria which is attached, the attached document stated that Nigeria is a population of 140 million, it has one of d lowest GDP in the world and its rich in oil, its placed 158 0f 177 in human devp. Index, 80 of 108 among poverty human index, 108 of 178 by transparent international,142 of 163 among corrupt nation, In conclusion, the appellant was advised in extensive publicity from this deputy high commission of the required documents needed in order for his application to be assessed, on the basis of this and in the light of DR*(Morocco) 2005. I respectfully request that any additional evidence submitted by the appellant should not be taken into consideration. Any evidence can be used to support a fresh application and this is the proper course for such information I rely on the refusal notice of the ECO and request that this case to proceed ta an appeal before an immigration judge and respectfully request that the appeal is dismissed. I observed they never faulted or commented on any document I later sent for appeal, so I don’t know why the appeal was dismissed, since then i have never applied nor appealed the judgement,my fear now is will this affect my future application, I intend applying for masters in d uk when am through with school later this year, how do I go about this, and when asked why was I refused earlier what should be my reply. Many thanks in anticipation for your responses’ |

ogbeche77:The contents of your long text is very well understood. Know that this very case is dismissed and closed. Now, it's not as bad as it seems to be refused a visa, especially owing to the reason(s) of the refusal, so, you can make subsequent application whenever you feel you're prepared for it. You said you are concerned that this development would affect your future application; the answer is YES. It will definitely have impact in your future application, but it will not affect it in a negative way because, the embassy understands that you were a genuine applicant who was refused a visa because the Visa Officer wasn't satisfied regarding a certain paragraph. So, while it is said that your future application will be treated in its own merit, this particular application will still be considered in the future one, and that is a good thing because this nature of this failed application may have some positive influence in your next application. |

Hello Nairalanders, I just got an invitation letter from my uncle in the uk,he is a citizen. Please,i want you all to tell me which supporting documents i need to attach with the invitation letter before i go to the embassy. Thanks |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 8:37am On Jan 25, 2011 |
mr.man: 1) Letter of invitation. 2) Your bank statements (last 3 months) if you're supporting yourself. 3) Your uncle's bank statements (last 3 months) if he's sponsoring you. 4) Your address details (where'll you'll be living for the duration of your visit). 5) Your passport (valid for at least 6 months). 6) A letter from your current employer in Nigeria. It would help if you could provide information that prove you have strong ties to Nigeria, that are likely to make you return, at the end of your visit. Best of luck. |

Hello all, I won my appeal for family visit. The embassy called me to bring my updated b/s with my passport. Given till next wk to submit the documents. I don't have enough in my acct and also just paid my salary in cash in my acct. Vic, Justwise and others. What do u think i can do? Thanks for advice. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by debenjie: 8:54am On Jan 25, 2011 |
My brother in UK is my sponsor. Why do they my b/s again? Does the balance in my acct matters? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by justwise(m): 4:10pm On Jan 25, 2011 |
debenjie: You still need to prove that whoever is sponsoring you is finanicially capable of doing so, that is why they need your bank statement. |

mr.man: These should suffice, yes. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Vicjustice: 10:58am On Jan 27, 2011 |
debenjie:For the embassy to have directly required of you to present your current Bank Statement means that it will definitely be a deciding factor. Actually, i'm just wondering what happened to the fund in the account statement that you initially provided, i hope the statement was genuine as i hope you know better than attempting to alter your current statement. My advice: Present the your bank statement as it is, though, we hope you get the visa, but if however they refuse you, your situation will still be better than if you modify the statement and getting banned for 10 years. |

Please what's the LAGOS British High commision e-mail address for him to send them the letter. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by debenjie: 5:32pm On Jan 27, 2011 |
@Vicjustice, thanks for your response. I submitted my current bank statement to the embassy. Why should I submit an altered one to them since I know the consequences of using a fake document. UK visa is not do or die. Money keeps going in and coming from my account just that the balance I have now is not up to the initial balance I had when I submitted my visa application. Anyway, I am gonna print it like that and submit to them, I hope for the best. Are they going to interview me when submitting the documents? how long is going to take to get response from the embassy when I submit the documents? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Vicjustice: 10:45pm On Jan 27, 2011 |
mr.man:It really won't count where he is sending the email from as long as he will be in the UK in the due time, and he doesn't need to lie about his location because it would be a lasting disaster if he's caught lying. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Vicjustice: 11:09pm On Jan 27, 2011 |
debenjie:Actually, an active bank statement with low fund is by far more credible than an idle one with huge amount of money. So, if your account statement is running with transparent transactions, you might stand a reasonable chance except the money in it is questionably too low and ridiculous. Now, when a person is applying for a visa with a Bank Statement that is deemed impressive howbeit, with low balance, the Visa Officer will then divert his attention to the person inviting the applicant to see whether there are other compelling reasons to grant the visa, so, it will then depend on the quality of calibre of the reference in the UK that can help in determining whether the visa would be issued or refused. Therefore, considering these, and as you are applying for Family Visit visa, why don't you request your family in the UK to back up your application and accept part if not all of the financial responsibilities? The move would save you lot of trouble. Now, given that this application has undergone appeal, interview is very likely. But it might not be necessary to call you for it if the Visa Officer considers your case a straight approval or refusal. And the length of time it would take to reach decision is not something anyone can guarantee you, not even the ambassador can guarantee that. So, things would be done in rotation and the period of time would depend on the jobs in their hands and the traffic of other applications. |

VicJuctice- Thanks!, Please, how do i book an apointment wit the british high commision? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by mrman3(m): 9:40am On Jan 29, 2011 |
Vicjuctice- Please,do i need to include my tax payment slip and my pay slip with the application. Please, your advise is needed oo ! |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Vicjustice: 12:08pm On Jan 29, 2011 |
mr.man:Your pay slip is a must except your bank statement is transparent enough, and has your income records. As for the "Tax Slip", i think there is no better person to answer that but yourself. In Europe, Pay Slips also contain tax record, so, there would be no need for "Tax Slip" when Pay Slip is present except in the event of scrutiny. |

@former, I'm so happy for you o! @justwise, like i asked in my earlier post if i can proceed to Uni after i'm through with college, you replied "Courses below degree level could diploma or high diploma or even foundation course." do you know if the below is a diploma or high diploma? "Academic level - NQF 04 leading to NQF 06" "Course title - CMI Level 4, leading to CMI Level 6 Qualifications in Management and Leadership" You also said If the immigration law remains as it is now, i can proceed upon completion, is there any sign of the immigration law changing anytime soon? let's say 4 years? Thanks |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by debenjie: 1:56pm On Jan 30, 2011 |
@Vicjustice, Thanks for your response. My bank account is very active. My brother in UK, has already include in the appeal letter that he's going to incurred all the expenses for my trip to the UK, . He gave his 2 bank statement, pay slip and house agreement to show is capable of sponsoring to the UK, which I sent together to the tribunal, with it my appeal was allowed. I will be taking the updated bank statement with my passport to the UK Lagos Embassy, because it was from UK Abuja that instructed me to go and drop it there. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by UNLEASHED(m): 4:28pm On Jan 30, 2011 |
@justwise If it will change at all, I hope it will still favour us student, the 10 hours/week work permit is bizarre enough to scare those who plans to come here with the intention of settling down |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by former: 4:30pm On Jan 30, 2011 |
A travel bureau gave me this price lists Qatar. . . . . .107,632 naira Airfrance. . . .205,096 naira KLM. . . . . . . 203, 200 naira BA. . . . . . . . .293, 500 naira I plan booking my flight tomorrow with Qatar, but i would have prefer KLM, can i book their return? What's the difference/implication (if any) between booking a one way or booking a return? Sorry for my question, I'm a first time traveller! |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Vicjustice: 9:18pm On Jan 30, 2011 |
debenjie:Though, your chance is not the most excellent of chances (due to the fund in your Bank Statement), but still you can succeed on your brother's merit. But the million dollar question is, what would you tell the ECO that you'd be returning to Nigeria for? If you can satisfy the ECO on your home ties and obligations, then you could stand up to a 90% chance. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by earthrealm(m): 11:41pm On Jan 30, 2011 |
'former, ur question isnt so clear, are u travelling on a visiting visa 2 uk 4 how long? if short, its best u buy return, its cheaper, 1 way flightds are more expensive if u add the return leg. judging y the figures u wrote, i think they r all return except qatar, go the websites n chk again, its simple, when navigating the site, select return or single depending on the one u want. cheers |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Busybody2(f): 12:08am On Jan 31, 2011 |
former: Whether return or single, only the Qatar flight is correct, as for the rest, tell your Travel Agent I said he/she is a thief, and remember na who send you you fear, not the person you are delivering the message to. Even BA which is the only direct flight up there, at most should not cost more than N140,000 naira. Infact calling him a thief is not enough, please give him a knock on the head, on my behalf too, ha ha, thiefy thiefy jankoliko ole |
