Hi everyone, I submitted a Visa application and was refused . I said it was my first passport, well it's the first time I apply for the UK. I had previous passport with which I applied in 2006 to France, but I lost it and got a new one. Do you think UK Visa folks have access to French Visa data? Thank you for your responses! |

good day house i was refused visa last year September based on the grounds that my mothers statement did not show the required maintainance balance and that i over stayed my previous time studying in the uk so was given a one year ban.i noticed they failed to check my own statement of account which was also added to my mothers and i had proofs that i did not overstay because it was a mix up by the uk embassy in the uk so i did an administrative review and this was the result i got from them below CAS/Visa Letter points claimed Original Points awarded AR Points awarded 30 30 30 ECM Comment: N/A Maintenance Original Points claimed Original Points awarded AR Points awarded 10 0 0 ECM Comment: You have stated that the ECO did not consider both the personal bank statements that you submitted in your name and your mother’s name, also . You are correct – the ECO failed to take into consideration your personal statement. However, even if your personal statement had been taken into consideration you would still not had sufficient funds. You required £9890. The 28 day period was 19/07/10 – 16/08/10. On 20/07/10 the combined balances on the accounts (N1,650,000 on your account and N553,689.74 on your mothers) amount to N2,203,689 (£9542). However you required N2,355,936 (Oanda exchange rate on 16/08/10 was £1 = 238.214 Naira). 0 points is therefore still correct. General Grounds for Refusal Original decision Decision following AR 320 7b 3207b N/A ECM Comment: I accept that your application should not have been refused under paragraph 320 (7b) of the immigration rules. so i differed my admission until this year and this time around instead of using both my mothers statement of account and my own we used just my mothers own to avoid mix up and also we have about 7million naira and what i need for maintenance and fees balance this time around is 2,474,130.i used same transcript.i am just going to complete y last year of hnd which i have already started in uk before.i was refused extension in 2009 and i had no grounds to appeal that was why i came back last year to reapply from naija.now have applied last week.from my administrative review it seemed the overstaying issue has been resolved although the one year ban was until April 2011.i have been waiting for 12 working days now . any ideas from justwise or anyone in the house. and before i forget the only thing that has changed in my status is that i am now legally married and i ticked it in my form this time around and added the marriage certificate. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 8:00am On Jun 29, 2011 |
bardamine:Answer to your question is YES they do as there is now a 'common' EU immigration information sharing frame work but this is mostly used for Asylum seekers. However, in recent times, it is also now being used for most visas processing. Can you post word for word the 'Notice of Refusal' comments of the ECO and also make clear your own side so we could offer specific advice. |

Hi!!! I want to say that there is a wealth of solid information on this forum; keep up the good work, guys!!! My question is this, if I apply for a UK Visa (first time app by the way) as a general visitor/tourist, do I have to specify a hotel where I will stay? What if I have a friend I can stay with coz i will go with kids. we actually intend to spend at most a week in the buk and do lots of sight seeing and shopping. Kindly advise, I don't want to be refused!!!! (all other documents need for tourism are valid and complete by the way ie bank statement, payslip, company letter etc) Will really appreciate this, thanx. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 9:05pm On Jun 30, 2011 |
jt2010:Sorry for not replying in time. I have read your Notice of Refusal and I will be honest with you, on "point of law" you gave the ECO too much leg room. I understand from your post that you included a list of places you would like to visit, however it appeared it was not sufficient to convince the ECO of the genuiness of the visit. The refusal does say you do not have a right of appeal, however there are two options left open to you to challenge the ECO decision.-A letter of representation and/or a Judicial Review- But in my view, both options are expensive and time costly. And given the observations of the ECO in the refusal, I think the best way is for you to repackage yourself and make another application- an option I feel is cost effective- Reapply, but this time find someone to either invite you over or help you get a tour operator in London who would help prepare a tour package including accommodation with which you can use to reapply. When you do reapply, include a letter to the ECO, addressing the issues/concern He/She raised and how you have addressed them. I think you have a very good chance of getting the visas going by the comment of the ECO in his letter. Also, this time around if you have secured the services of the tour guide, come back here and I will gladly help out with packaging your documents. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 9:17pm On Jun 30, 2011 |
cutesy:Answer to the part in bold, YES you will need to show proof of payment for hotel accommodation for either the whole period of your holiday or atleast for much of it. If you have a friend, why not request for an invitation letter and other documents as required as this will make things easier for you. Although, a burden of proof will be on you to establish the closeness or otherwise of you and your invitee. Specifying just the address of your friend as your accommodation MAY not help you much. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by cutesy(f): 10:29am On Jul 01, 2011 |
Omo_Tier1: Thanks a million. I still need a bit more clarification: 1. My friend is my brother-in-law. What does he need to send to me apart from an invitation letter 2. Does it matter that I'm applying as a visitor, even though my brother-in-law is inviting me? 3. Do I still need to pay for a hotel in advance even though I don't yet have the Visa 4. Do I also need an itinerary as a matter of compulsion? 5. Will my chances of securing a visa be any better if I apply for a family VISA instead, remember, I am the one sponsoring my trip. 6. How long does the entire process take, anyways? Sorry, but I really need to know, |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 2:52pm On Jul 01, 2011 |
jt2010:Great, do supply details and please be sincere while in discussion with them! Once your discussion has reached an advanced stage, tell them about your recent visas refusals and see what thier response will be. Please do not pay any money until you have validated to make sure the tour operators are on the UK tour operators register. |

Ops E: Once again, thanks a lot for the patience and time dedicated to all these million million questions. Ok, my final question before I submit, The section that states "have you ever been refused a visa". I have, only once in 2008 and that was a schengen visa to Greece. It was supposed to be for a 5 day training organized by my office then, but they still turned it down, The reason being insufficient funds. Till today, I still wonder what the hell that meant coz my account was booming!!!. Anyways, for this purpose, pls advise me. Do I tell the truth about this (as I intend to anyway) and when I do, will this affect my current application to the UK? Do you think its advisable I let sleeping dogs lie? for the record, there is no sign at all of this on my passport, they were kind enuff not to mark it in any way. This passport is also old as I now have a new one, |

Omo_Tier1: I do appreciate, but having gone thru the posts, I'm even more confused than before!!!!! Can you please pretty please just post a checklist for stuff my invitee needs to include along with the Invitation letter? And will he need to courier it to me or will scanning suffice?A lot of mixed opinions on the scanning thing above ooo Thanks for helping poor helpless me out, |

Submitted my application today. Have two advise: 1. If you don't want to waste time at the Ikeja submission center you have to either pay them N10k for VIP services OR simply get there as early as: 5am-6am register your name and stay there till 8am or come back at 7:30-8am to get in. I took option 2: by the time it's 9:30am I was through already, I left and came back. Else, if you get there by 8am, you might actually leave very late, spending the entire day for me wasn't an option, neither did I feel comfortable parting away with 10 grand. 2. You can opt to track your application online instead of paying N400 for the sms, https://www.vfs.org.in/UKG-PassportTracking/ApplicantTrackStatus.aspx?Data=QjjeqT6tBJlHwGRUVZxtkA== Thanks to the people we give free advise, and it's from this love they have shown me, that I have given this info. I pray I get the visa. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 9:01am On Jul 02, 2011 |
cutesy:DOCUMENTS THE INVITEE NEEDS TO FORWARD TO YOU: 1.Original copy of the letter of invitation preferably handwritten or typed but let it be informal like a normal correspondence 2.Six months utilities bills like UK gas and electricity bill -This is mainly to establish his place of residency and for basic checks if required. This bill MUST be in the name of your invitee with same address as that He wants you to use as his address otherwise in cases where the invitee has not spent a long period in that address, the bills for previous address should be included with a letter of explanation. This isnt compulsory but it helps clear things up. 3.Six months bank statements if the person is sponsoring your trip. Even if that is not the case, a financial statement backed with bank statement from your invitee to the ECO, stating to that effect that He/She has the financial means to take care of you while you are there will surely help! As for the documents you need to submit, need me not repeat postings, read this thread; https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-127964.3808.html ^^ here you would find list of documents itemized by the poster by name jt2010. Those are more than sufficient in your case to establish your ties here i.e, to convinced the ECO that you intend to return to Nigeria after your visit. Please as much as possible, ALL documents should be original, and where not possible to include originals but photocopies, a written explanation in form of a letter to ECO must be included with your application. As for your invitee documents, get him/her to send them by post NOT e-mail or scan copies. And can I also add that this list is not exhaustive and please make sure you do your own vetting that ALL DOCUMENTS ARE GENUINE NOT FAKE! Hope this help. |

, @Omo-tier1, great job u ar doing I must confess and d numerous good peeps in d house. Here goes my question, I need to know what documents are required for a PBS T-4 dependant visa as I wanna apply as a dependant on my wife. I was actually finkin of doing a family visitor initially but was advised I go for a dependant visa instead. Documents I ave presently are; Marriage cert.,CAS letter from wife, Her Psprt data page (which has her maiden name), Newspaper change of name, 1.5m bank statmt(£6000), an income of >150k/month etc What other supporting docs does she need to send t and what other docs do I need to attach. Advise from other veterans wld be well appreciated as I intend to apply for the Dependant visa in less than 2weeks. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 10:47pm On Jul 02, 2011 |
dejumotalks:Before I reply you on the documents required, could you clarify if you actually plan to remain with your wife in the UK or you just want to pay her a visit? The part in bold in your post got me thinking. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 11:06pm On Jul 02, 2011 |
I actually intend to visit for like 3weeks den later go back to stay with her by End of the year. What do you advise? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 11:19pm On Jul 02, 2011 |
dejumotalks:If I may ask, is your wife on a Masters degree programme and how many months visas was she given and how many months is left? As for your last post, I have my reservations but I will let you know what I think once I get your answer to my questions above. Regards. |
