adaobi123:She's beaten Jeter and Fraser-Pryce before. The three of them will be in Shanghai for the first 100m head to head of the season. I feel her coach is still working on her drive, hence her competing in 200m at Mt. Sacs. Okagbare, like Usain Bolt, is a poor starter. When she gets in her drive, she is very hard to stop. In fact, she zooms past people anyhow. The fastest starters in the world are the shorter folks. Fasuba used that to his utmost advantage. Fraser-pryce too. But their bubbles always burst when a tall person like Okagbare gets the perfect start and they are all level after 10m. If you're willing to see the rematch of the Olympics, watch the Shanghai race live on Friday, I think its around 2.30pm Nigerian time. |

adaobi123:I really felt for Asafa Powell at the olynpics. I wonder what went through his mind. I can imagine him saying "O boy, na so this race don tough reach"? There are soo many heavy weights now. We have former champion Justin Gatlin, another former champion, Asafa Powell, Tyson gay, Usain Bolt and his partner. It keeps getting tougher by the day. |

Another monster that i've not seen for a while now is Shawn Crawford. He used to be Justin Gatlin's twin brother on the tracks. |

Afam4eva: Is the same thing the English do to their footballers. ![]() ![]() But Naija has to seriously challenge the Americans and Jamaicans once again. In the early to mid 1990s, Nigerian athletes used to rub shoulders with athletes of those 2 nations. Jamaica wasn't really the top nation then; the US was the dominant force to reckon with, followed by Trinidad and Tobago (Ato Bolden) 1 Like |

Another good Nigerian female sprinter is Gloria Asumnu. But she is more of a 200m specialist. Unlike Okagbare, Asumnu was born and bred in the US; the IAAF only approved her switch to Nigeria in 2012. |

CFCfan: Another good Nigerian female sprinter is Gloria Asumnu. But she is more of a 200m specialist.Asumnu is aging. Sorry to disappoint you. She's still very good, but I doubt if she can make the finals at Moscow. She's an important asset for the relays though. |

ola_pluto: yeah, age is no longer on her side. As u said, she would be useful in the relays because she can run the 'bend' due to her 200m experience. Other ones to watch are San Diego State University's Lauretta Ozoh, and Christy Udoh. Damola Osayomi has almost fallen off the radar. |
