Chelsea midfieder, John Obi Mikel has dropped the strongest possible hint that African champions, Nigeria will not play negative football at the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria, unbeaten from their last 16 games, will play Namibia in a 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier on June 12 before jetting off to Brazil.

The African champions are in Group B of the Fifa Confederations Cup alongside Spain, Uruguay and Tahiti.

Mikel, who is an integral member of the Nigeria team, has now taken the time to discuss the tactics of head coach, Stephen Keshi.

“He (Keshi) likes us to keep the ball and express ourselves and that’s why the results have been good for us in recent matches,” Mikel told Fifa Football Mundial.

Nigeria begin their Fifa Confederations Cup campaign against Tahiti on June 17 at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte.

Three days later, the Super Eagles will line up against South American champions, Uruguay at the Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador before rounding off their preliminary campaign against world and European champions, Spain at the Estadio Castelao, Fortaleza on June 23

well, its because of GEJ the S.E's Dont play tiki-taka soccer, you see he had NFA look for a coach who encourages Otuoke soccer, in this case=> possesion soccer (that was the plot right from the onset)...
Anyway no need to blow our horns just yet, cuz@the moment the S.E's are experiencing freshair.

When Amodu was the coach. . .he was scared and he brought negative football. It worked, won us a bronze at the afcon and qualified us for the WC 2010 but we gathered together and called for his head!!

Negative football is not a super eagle. cheesy cheesy

I give kudos to keshi. The reason is dat he said his main target is qualifying for the world cup, so confederation cup will just test our boys strength againt the world champions. I see reason with him, our focus first should be qualifying for the mundial. I wish quick recovery to Emenike and Moses. God bless SE.

STOP POSSESSION FOOTBALL

Possession football is only effective in africa because that's what everyone playing! Once you step outside of africa it's trash because 4 seconds of possessing will never match 4 seconds of passing and decisive plays!

a good coach will tell his team that no player should possess the ball for more than 3 seconds. the strategy is
-attain
-assess
-execute

attain the ball, assess the situation, execute the plan (pass or take a shot). This is how you put points on the board and what makes european football so successful
