The car was as quiet as a grave yard as non of us knew what to say or what we shouldn't until I broke the silence;

'where exactly are we going?'

'The hospital is at Akpor' The doctor replied.

'hmm, ok. Why was she transferred by the way? I thought UPTH was the best hospital around here?' I asked.

'Err..ermm, UPTH handles normal ailments but Sandra case is a complicated one so she was transferred to a specialist hospital' The doctor replied.

'Hmm, ok' and then I kept quiet, until we stopped by a quite popular hotel/club at Ozuoba, named 'Dazeys suites and lodges'.

'and why are we stopping here?'
I asked totally confused, and I began to sense something suspicious about this whole transfer thing.

'Our rent expired almost two months ago, and the quit notice we received expires today, so I'm sure the caretaker has locked up the door, so I want to book a room for I and Sandra, you know she doesn't like sleeping at hospitals' Amaka explained.

'hmm, what if she is in such a bad condition that she can't leave the hospital?' I asked.

'Then I would have to come back alone, I'm booking now because I don't know when we would come back and they have few rooms'

'Hmm, ok.. Lets rush in a book quickly' I suggested and leapt out of car.

'Ok' They both replied in unison.

As I and Amaka made to walk into the hotel, the doctor stayed back and just before we opened the door of the hotel reception I looked back at the doctor and saw he making a call. That made me more suspicious, I tightened my grip on the nylon bag where the 50k was, just incase of incasities.

As I opened the door and walked into the reception of the hotel, the light was turned on and.

Over 20 people screamed at the top of thier voice.

I turned to Amaka to ask her what the hell was going on but she was magically no longer by my side, and turning the other was I saw Sandra walking towards me.

'I thought you were sick, and at the hospital?' I asked still not getting what exactly was going on.

'Yes, I was sick, but now am better. What you have done for me today is never going to be forgotten' She replied with a wide grin, and then peck me on the cheek.

She then dragged me to the front of a table with a cake placed on it, boldly written on the cake was;

'HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2 YOU'

I immediately understood it all, it was October 24th!!! Which was my birthday, my 18th birthday for that matter.

'How the hell did I forget it so badly? Well, there comes a time in a mans life when birthdays wouldntt mean so much to him, and besides, my thoughts had been occupied all day with Sandra' I pondered.

They sang the Happy birthday to you' song and then urged my to make a wish.

I had a quick thought to figure out the best wish, and then silently wished that more moments like that would come my way, then I blew the blew the candles on the cake.

After that people started taking turns in wishing me good tidings, everyone that I had ever cared for was present, even Urch, Chidinma and strangely Ify too.

I was too happy to get annoyed and besides, I assumed they were all part of the plan.

Tayo the party rocker then screamed 'Lets go into the club and have the main celebration!!!' on top of his voice.

We all went to the club and it was empty, which only meant it was reserved for us, I couldnt suppress the overwhelming feeling of being so cared for, that I nearly cried out of joy.

The Dj started with a slow song and then skillfully scratched it before changing the song to Flavour's shake track;

'Mr Flavour on the microphone' the whole club shaked as everyone screamed, including me.

Sandra sought me out and gave me her backside to rock, I gladly accepted the offer, who wouldn't ?

We danced for a while and I got tired of her yänsh so I left and slided into the back of a random chick who I didn't care to see her face.

Tayo and Urch came over to where I was and dragged me to the VIP section without even caring to know if I wanted to go or not.

A bottle of champagne was placed in a small bucket which was filled with ice, I was asked to do the honours of popping it and take the first sip before the bar could be open to all.

Everything was happening so fast and I was so excited to think about what they made me go through all day in search of money for Sandra.

I popped the bottle and took the first sip straight out off the bottle, and thus the bar was opened. Everyone, except we at the VIP section rushed straight to the bar and bombarded the bar-tender with drink orders, although mostly beer.

We had our own separate drinks served by staffs of the hotel, strictly assorted wines and basically all those expensive drinks.

When we all had a glass of wine each, Sandra stood up and proposed a toast;

'To the good life, and specially to Micheal for being there for each of us at one point in time'

We all clinged our glasses saying 'cheers'.

The rest of the bash went on well.

'sweet 18' I thought.
