If all your cost of RnD, industrialisation, jigs, training etc. is only spread over 12 airframes , that's what it's going to cost per unit. It's still a business and accounting rules apply. Indian LCH is going to be bought in big nr's (180 i think) and it shares production components with the Dhruv.

Rooivalk is actually a very high performance aircraft if you compare it to other high end attack helos in flight performance.
The attack/avionics suite that was planned was very sophisticated at the time , but they couldn't finish before the budget got slashed. They had to go with inferior French systems that you get with the Tiger. Some of this was because of corruption as well. More money was wasted when they tried to compete with the Apache for the British and Turkish army contracts and they had to develop Mokopa, because the US refused to supply hellfire with it. Our biggest problem is that we can't provide financing for these deals because SA banks will not underwrite Denel's arm deals. This is a major handicap for all our weapons exports.

This is a picture thread however, so here's some pics of the 30mm gun that was planned and the naval version.

kikuyu1:

True but look at the Indian LCH 50% cheaper than yours. My point remains: you should've gone for a more basic lite design cause now you're competing with the Apache and Euro Tiger, pushed by heavy weight global politics.
Here's what one of your websites says:

I take offense to that. Please stop. BTW it looks like KDF have requested new f16. I don't think it will be approved because it will make stronger than the rest of the region.

The reason there is a lot of defense procurement this year in Kenya is because it's an election year and the ruling president needs money to bribe voters

Say what you like about the Mandela people, they do have by far the most technologically advanced military industrial complex in Africa. They have the technical capacity to build whatever they need.

Nigerian army T-72 M and Vickers tank advance into the dreaded Sambisa forest, the hitherto stronghold of Boko Haram that encompasses a landmass if 66,000 sqr kilometres.

I dare say Nigeria has one of the most potent Tank force in Sub Saharan Africa., due in large part for years of fighting and experience garnered over the years. Unlike most countries combating terror the Sambisa forest is an area half the size of Scotland but sparsely populated and featureless plains. Perfect place for the employment of tanks and heavy artillery without worrying about collateral damages and civilian asualties

The speed, accuracy and devastating power of the artillery guns won confidence and admiration from troops it supported and inspired fear and respect in our enemies. We have the right to bear arms, not artillery guns.

We sleep safely on our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us.

Everybody wants peace........ And we will fight the most terrible war to get it.

Nigeria: 'Navy Kills Two' in Police Station Arson Attack

http://www.newsweek.com/nigeria-twodead-navy-police-618092

In this day and age, this even requires no training, it's simple common sense, this is what happens when there is really no separation between these agencies, in the US for example, soldiers, navy etc, have zero authority on the street, but in Nigeria, soldiers are busy assaulting cops, this isn't the first time this has happened, it's sad. But i do hope there will be some official info on this though

NPF needs to change its attitude.
The naval rating was assaulted, shot at & locked up, after discovering his ID the police transferred him to Naval Hosp where he died,

France equipment are very good but seriously Nigerian Armed Forces must not be dependant on them this is too risky ..... We all seen what happen to our equipment when subject to umbargo I prefere we build an economic relationship with them. For military hard ware better buy a Tucano for 50M, we must go USA, Italy, China and Russia. To have a well-balanced one between the West and the East. Forget the French equipement.. We need to take our Country a little bit seriously depanding on France is stupid look at Algerians they are allergic to the French equipement! Only some Panchar France cant put pressure on them and we and Algeria have a little bit the same history

Imo,you're harsh. Kulbiyow wasn't El Adde, a monumental fcukup for which the batt and bgde and coy commander (had he survived) should all have been sacked. In real war not the edited yt videos, movies or books, things don't go perfectly.
During op Certain Death, when the Paras attacked RUF rebels in Sierra leone 2000 to rescue a section of kidnapped Irish Rangers the commander was wounded immediately.
He was back with the 60 mm mortars providing support when someone made a basic infantry school boo boo. They were a set up under a tree!! The first round luckily didn't have time to fuze as it hit the branches coming back down and literally blowing off his arse! True story. He was medevacked immediately and I think his arse was saved though its definitely narrower than it used to be.
Whose fault is that? No excuses but sometimes, poo happens.
