First Project Biro vessel to be handed over next month

The first multi-mission offshore patrol vessel (MMIPV) being acquired for the South African Navy is currently undergoing sea trials and will be handed over in late March.

Armscor said Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT) was contracted in January 2018 to deliver three Biro vessels, with the first (P1571) to be handed over to the Navy in March this year, followed by P1572 in June 2023 and P1573 in September 2024. Deliveries were originally scheduled to start from mid-2021 – the first keel was laid in February 2019.

SAS Sekhukhune (P1571) has concluded most of her sea trials and, according to Armscor, exceeded specified performance. Sea trials would have concluded earlier, but were delayed by international travel bans due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Final crew training has commenced and will be completed in March – the vessel is due to be handed over to the SA Navy on 24 March.

The hull of P1572 (SAS Adam Kok) is 75% complete and 33 of 46 main equipment factory acceptance tests have been completed successfully. Fabrication is underway of eight of the 21 sections that make up the third vessel (SAS Shaka), and a quarter of factory acceptance tests have been completed.

Yes true but what about the ammo ?

A soldier can carry only so much isn't it ?

Personally i would choose type depending on the combat situation I am going into

If it involves running around chasing tangos wearing BPJs I will take 7.62 x 39

Chasing tangos without BPJs I will go with 5.56 nato

If missions requires me to do minimal movements I will take 7.62 nato , great for defence ( and attack too provided constant resupply is guaranteed till last mile )

True but too much noise is made about the weight of 7.62 NATO, 400 rounds of which weigh 10 kg as opposed to 5 kg for same amount of 5.56 mm. Frankly its a cardio issue! With proper training a trooper should be able to handle this ammo load on his LBE while jogging 12.5 kmh for 40 mns.
To complete training and as part of an annual test of their fitness, legionnaires must complete the 8 kilometres TAP ("Paratroopers 8 kilometer"wink of 8 kilometers (5 mi) loaded with rifle, helmet and a 12 kilograms (26 lb) pack in under 40 minutes, and a night march of 25 kilometers (16 mi) in three hours with a load of 18 kilograms (40 lb).
[url]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loaded_march#:~:text=To%20complete%20training%20and%20as,hours%20with%20a%20load%20of/url]

Nowadays every ordinary nigga with a grievance has level 3 body armour needing 7.62 NATO penetration-these are Talibs and Mexican sicarios. I can swear I've seen Iraqi ISIS and Libyan jihadis similarly equipped.

Can you explain to me the different levels?
Like what does level A mean and so on?

Secondly, can you then tell me the level of the ESAL simulator in SA?

Lastly, do you think something commissioned in 1993 stays the same? How would it work exactly for a pilot flying today's Super Puma, to use a simulator with 1993 cockpit controls? Does that even make sense?
I think that everybody -military and private - using ESAL simulators should immediately demand refunds from those rascals at Airbus Helicopters. grin

Am sure you have internet. Google all your questions? The answers are very clear. Even the answer to how much upgrade a 1993 stimulator/cockpit controls can receive.

Vain and shallow try at sarcasm

Some of us can't even remember when we paid bride price. You must be new to the club or perhaps you are tasting one without honor wouldn't be a surprise seeing your disrespect for women on a public fora how irresponsible.

Btw your aforementioned "escape moniker" -- everytime you guys are caught in a corner and can't make any substantive rebuttal but rather chase the fluffing wind and forming emotions
-- must have done something to your head and those of your ilk. Evidently that guy deserves a national honor for advanced psychological warfare. North of 20 years on Nairaland and y'all Southies still can't get a good night's sleep because of PsyOps induced PTSD by a very proud patriotic Nigerian. Ask for help.

Around 94 or "5 I was on the Nakuru highway behind a truck when it lost it's centre bolt. The exact same thing happened. It capsized on its left but luckily didn't rollover.

Chicken feed to protect the real heavy weights! The CEO Antonio Horta Osorio, a Portuguese is obviously of the Spanish noble Osorio family.

The House of Osorio is a Spanish noble lineage of the Crown of Castile. They descend from count Osorio Martínez, a prominent nobleman in the first half of the 12th century who was member of the Flagínez family and husband to a granddaughter of king Alfonso VI of León. It was from his grandson, Osorio González, that the family derived its patronymic surname.

At this level of trade and finance the Nobility and Royalty, or they proxies dominate.
I once met a pal of a pal high up in the Swiss banking biz. As a private banker for some of the Rothschild clan, IIRC they were 2 and 3rd cousins he let slip some unforgettable details. He handed several accounts each minimum 150 BN $ TO 200 BN $!?

A Battalion Combat Group (BCG) finally being sent to Mozambique.
60 to 80 armoured personnel carriers (Casspir and Mamba).

Explains all the allied air lift that's been flying in and out, besides the normal weekly SAAF C130 flights to Moz and DRC.
