ochejoseph: If GEJ gives Nigerians 24 hours power supply Tinubu ,Buhari etal will regret registering APCIf all our past leaders had been solving one problem per tenure, I don't think we will be in this mess that we are. I applaud Jonathan for this achievement but there is still room for improvement. Larger part of the country are without regular supply of power or no power at all. Solve this and I can guarantee that many will vote you as President again. 3 Likes |

Why are we so easy to please? During OBJ era that some GEJ Supporters are quick to point to, the same political jobbers praised him for awarding the contacts without any meaningful result until he left. By 2015, if the current administration can not deliver uninterrupted power supply too, they we referred to as failures too. No matter how good the intentions are or the process/steps taken, if there is no power 24/7, by 2015, this administration have failed too |

Sometime you just garra laugh at these electricity threads. I especially laugh when one person states, "20 hours electricity in my area for months" and another states ,"yes-o GEJ is doing wonders, i've got 24 hours electricity" and yet another states," 19 hours electricity, things are looking up" Then one person comes along and states, "una dey craze; no electricity in my area of lagos, six years now" and you just know that this guy probably put up a shark-home made of cardboard and tarpaulin near bar-beach. 1 Like |

A-ZeD: You forgot to mention that he also actually flagged off the contruction of the Second Niger Bridge without a design or contract. He practically rented some contractor equipments for few hours and did his thing before the camera. No serious President shoudl fail to make reasonable impact in the electricity sector after spending $16b in a period of 8 years. On GEJ, don't forget that Yar'Adua cancelled the power projects when he listened to house of reps probe report and decided to be a 'servant leader'. Technically speaking, GEJ started those power projects. 1 Like |

Frank-C: Thank you for the brief refresher course on our recent history of the power sector. We will see greater efforts by the REVISIONISTS to re-write our story with "facts" concocted in their very fertile & imaginative minds. See as dem don dey start talk sey na Tinubu criticism na im make Jonathan dey achieve so much. Akinmail: Shall we say it is because there has been no meaningful opposition criticism in Lagos for the past 14 years of Tinubu and his boy, Fashola that we have had dismal and abject FAILURE in the provision of BASIC services such as * free and COMPULSORY education for all children in primary, vocational and secondary schools. * pipeborne water. * feeder roads * functional primary health centres and specialist hospitals such that Fashola's dad was treated abroad before he died and Tinubu is now in the US for treatment. |

Frank-C:Sir, yar adua didn't cancel but suspended the projects. As a matter of fact, al d NIPP projects were started by d Obasanjo administration(during his 2nd term I guess) D excess crude acct(belonging 2 d 3 tiers of govt.) was used 2 fund them. When yar adua took over, he suspended d projects, sighting d rule of law, since d money does not belong 2 d FG alone. It was when Jonathan took over dat work resumed on d projects. On d billions of $s expended by Obj., If I can remember vividly, d probe panel truely concluded dat there was nothing significant 2 show at d project sites, not dat moneys were not expended. For instance, during d probe,it was discovered dat d turbines 4 Alaoji plant(Abia state) had been delivered 2 d country(several months b4 d probe started) via an eastern port, but could not be moved 2 site because a bridge needed 2 be constructed at a point on d route 2 d project site. My point is, as much as Jonathan deserves commendation on d ongoing power sector reforms, we need not distort facts about his achievements. U might want 2 check out dis link 2 correct d impression u av on d amt actually spent by Obj's regime on d NIPP https://www.nairaland.com/246811/fg-obasanjo-only-released-3.08 Let me also mention dat the 2005 power sector reform act(on which d entire power sector privatisation process is based) was initiated, and passed into law during Obj's tenure 1 Like |
