Did you just say that we are no longer under the 10 commandments?
If the old testament is irrelevant, why is still in the Bible?
You find it easy to receive the blessings there but hard to face the fact then! #GOD_HAVE_MERCY

dont use the bible as a reason to hide in obvious sin. the old testament is fulfilled in the new testament, not abolished.

@op
but Jesus has a tattoo, or how does one explain this verse of scripture?

Rev 19 vs 16
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (KJV)

so i figure if Jesus has one then it's okay.

Said by who

The way you guys turn the word of God upside now baffles me a lot.

Now tell me, the commandment is it in new or old testament

He is the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

His standard never change.

Lets not deceive ourselves.

Says the Holy spirit!

Look bro, its none of my business if you decide to subject yourself to 7 books of Moses or the laws of Jews or old Israeli.
And yes, God never changes irrespective of the time. However, the process of reaching him have changed over time: before christ, one will need to sacrifice lambs, oxen etc to reach to him. But now, its thru Christ. So it is when it comes to Old and new Testament.

I'm only bound by the laws of Christ...and that is LOVE!
When you love, you will not covert your neighbor's properties, lie, murder, fornicate, hate etc.

Re: The Bible Forbids Tattoos by haibe(m): 8:01pm On Sep 16, 2013
Okay guys listen, i know its not easy to accept the fact that the mosaic law is not applicable to christians but that is just the truth, we are no longer under the old covenant but under the new covenant, the old covenant was only a shadow of things to come, the lamb that was sacrificed, the laws written on stones etc, these things are not what God really intend for mankind but Jesus.

Jesus is the perfect sacrifice for our sins not a lamb, we never, i repeat never, we can never ever obey the laws in the old testament without becoming guilty at a point because it was there to point out the fact that man is helpless and needs a saviour, it was there to make everyone guilty before God and see a need for a saviour, we have about 613 laws(or so am not sure) in the OT and it is such that if you do not obey all you are still an offender and will face the punishment of the sin, in order words if you fail to obey one out of all the laws in the OT you are still guilty and have to pay the price.

So i will ask a few questions, how many of us here keep the sabath, how many of us here do not wear a cloth of diverse materials, how many of us do not shave our beards or trim our hairs, for the ladies do you go to church in you period? etc.. If you are guilty of any of the following, it means no matter how hard you try to keep any other law like the tatoo stuff, you are still guilty and your punishment is death even if you don't use tatoo.

The OT laws are full of weakness and no man can obey them perfectly and so we need a saviour since the punishment for not obeying the laws bring about death, Jesus died for our sins, he fulfilled/completed the law, after he fulfilled/completed the law, it now became possible for the law to pass away, i think there is a mis-conception about the following verse.

"For verily i say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law TILL ALL BE FULFILLED" (mattew 5:18)

Jesus is simply saying the law shall not pass away 'till all is fulfilled', at this time Jesus had not fulfilled the law(he hadn't died for our sins) but now Jesus has fulfilled the law, and so the law can now pass away, Jesus said it won't pass away until it is fulfilled, it is fulfilled now and thus can pass away, if there was no fault in the old covenant, we won't need a new. (Hebrews 8:7-13).

"24. Wherefore the law was our school master to bring us unto christ that we might be justified by faith"

25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a school master" (Galatians 3:24).

Now does that mean christians are lawless? NO!!, when you accept christ into your life and become born-again, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you, and helps you to manifest the fruit of the Spirit which includes love, through love you are able to fulfill the law and even go beyond it.

"For the law is fulfilled in one word, even this; thou shalt love thy neigbour as thyself"(galatians 5:14)

"9.For this, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness, thou shalt not covet and IF THERE BE ANY OTHER COMMANDMENT, it is briefly comprehended in the saying, namely thou shalt love thy neigbour as thyself.
10. Love worketh no ill to his neigbour; therfore love is the fulfilling of the law" (Romans 13:9-10).

So by operating in love with the help of the Holy Spirit, you go beyond even fulfilling the law by exercising love, if there is anything you need to do, the holy spirit tell you to do, if there is anything not to do He also tells you not to do, we have passed the time of someone teaching us the law, the Holy spirit can do that, afterall you also have the law of God written in our hearts, when you are operating by the Holy spirit, you do not need the law, infact it is contrary to the law.

"But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law"(Galatians 5:18)

When you become born again, the law ends there because it has been completed by Jesus and all you need is to be led by the Holy Spirit.

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth"(Romans 10:4)

The law brings about bondage because the man which doeth those things shall live by them(Romans 10:5) and if you say want to live by the law you must continue unless you are cursed, for this reason did Christ redeem us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us.(Galatians 3:10-13) because we are not going to continue to live by the law.

since the law brings about bondage, it can't operate where the Holy Spirit is.

"And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"(2 corinthians 3:17)

"Stand fast in the liberty wherewith christ has made you free and be not entagled again with the yoke of bondage"(Galatians 5:1)

When you have the Holy Spirit, you are free from every bondage, whether of sin or the law, you now fulfil the law by operating in love, a fruit of the Spirit.

Its that easy, trying to obey all the laws in the OT will only make you a legalist because you won't even succeed, you will surely become guilty of at least one law which is as good as you not obeying any at all.

"For whosoever shall keep the law and offend at one point is guilty of all"(James 2:10)

You can't be saved by trying to obey the law, it is your faith that saves you, the just shall live by faith, once you have that faith you get transformed into a new creature that always want to please God and the Holy spirit helps us to do so, not our obeying the law.

So do not be under the bondage of the law because it won't save you, exercise your liberty in christ, you have the Holy Spirit if you are saved, however we shouldn't use our liberty as an occassion to please the flesh.

"For brethren, ye have been called to liberty, only use not your liberty as an occassion to the flesh but by love serve one another"(Galatians 5:13)

Some people have said why then is the old testament in the bible if we do not need to obey it, please no one is saying you shouldn't obey the OT but that you are not bound to the laws in the OT but you are to be led by the Holy Spirit, there are instructions in the old testament that are profitable, there is a lot to 'learn' from it like to know how God interacted with people in the time past and the reason we need a saviour, there is a lot to learn.

"For whatsoever were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope" (Romans 15:4)

So please let's take time to study the bible and see how it applies to us, do not let us put our self under unnecesary burden, the burden of christ is okay to bear.

Point Note; Acts 15:5-12.

Too many arguments on the law and christ.

Jesus christ said "l didn't come to destroy (ie put an end, stop etc), but to fulfill (complete) the law.

argument on the parting of the veil in the temple signifies our unrestricted access into God's presence ( holies of holy).

Now what law did christ fulfill?

Christ fulfilled the law of sacrifice, he being the lamb of God that was sacrificed on the cross of calvary but an end to all forms of sacrifices that entails the shading of blood because jesus blood now washes our sins unlike that of animals that covered the sins of our forefathers.

Jesus death fulfilled sacrificial laws and not moral laws.

Moral laws are binding on both christians (believers) or non christians (unbelievers).

moral laws are the bases for judgment both in heaven and on earth because that is the bases for human coexistence.

You save you live in the law of love, l see you not only as a hypocrites but as one deceiving him or herself because all the moral laws as stated in the ten commandment are fulfilled in the law of love, so why run away from the commandment.

Simple, your looking for a short cut. Sorry no short cuts here, pick up your law book (bible) and find out what to do.

ln paradise or what you call it law exist. laws is what keeps heaven beautiful. without law no heaven. infact help itself is describe as a lawless place.

jesus himself obeyed the law and he is still obeying the law.

jesus said in this law hang all the law and the prophet means the law and the prophet are summarized in this one law. it doesn't mean all the laws has cease to exist.

listening to a preacher is good, but listening to a preacher with emotions without thinking is dangerous. even the apostles asked questions where they were confused.

paul was proud of the corinthians because they returned home to study to see if what they were taught was in line with the scripture.

our knowledge of the bible is a combination of our pastor's commentaries and explanations rather than that of the holy spirit. the holy spirit didn't come to teach us how to speak in tongues but lead us to all the truth.

start studing the word with the holy spirit.

Jesus said we should love God and love our neighbour, on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Love is the basis of the law, so if you love you have fulfilled the law, and yes Jesus said the law will pass away if the conditions are met.

Re: The Bible Forbids Tattoos by jdilight(m): 2:29pm On Sep 21, 2013
may l ask, how many laws did God gave to moses?

may l also tell you that moses gave no law and if so, how the all knowing and unchangeable God that gave moses a law now make a turn around to say he made a mistake and say jesus take this law to my people.

may l ask, what did jesus came to the world to do?

the law says he that sins shall die. this is the law jesus fulfilled. being sacrificed for our sins so we will not die again as a result of sin.

the soul that sins shall die, what if the soul that was killed did not sin. he cannot die rather becomes a saving path to does that claims his death.

this is the law fulfilled, not bowing to an image, stealing, killing etc.

the law still exist but has lost its power to kill whosoever believes in the death of sinless jesus christ.

that is while you are not condemned because you broke the law but that you did not believe in the only begotten son of God: jesus christ.

matthew 5 : 17 - 19

17. Do not think that l came to destroy the law or the prophets. l did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

two striking governing principles jesus recognized here; the law or the prophets. the directives of these two principles and not people or personalities guides the isreali nation. but in verse 18 jesus focused on the law because it is only the law that has a punishment attached to it. and it is this punishment jesus came to take away from man

18. For assuredly, l say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

One jot meaning one complete meaningful statement of the law will be binding no matter what or who come with what message till till one by one all of them are fulfilled.

Now living without breaking any of these laws destroyed the power of the punishment of the law. but because we cannot we take refuge in the redemptive power of the blood he shade on our behalf for the punishment of the sins we have not as it were committed.

The erroneous believe that the law is moses law is misleading as the believe that man carries adamic nature.

Moses gave no law, he took from God and presented to us as Adam has no nature but reproduced the image and likeness of God in us (man).

The erroneous teachings we had gathered over the years has made us blame shifter and short cut seekers rather than God seekers.

No one believing the law hard that can keep the law. it is in the believe system. lf ye believe, ye shall say to this mountain be thou removed and it shall be so - jesus christ.

How can they be fulfilled "one by one"?

My brother Jesus clearly started that he came to fulfill the law, not you, you can't fulfill the law "one by one", if it were possible then christ did not need to die.

So Jesus fulfilled the law, the whole law, not part of the law, i challenge you to show me where the bible says Jesus only fulfilled part of the law, please show me.

Jesus said the law will be pass away if two conditions are met:

1) Till heaven and earth pass away
2) Till all be fulfilled

And i say unto you today that Jesus was succesful in fulfilling the law, all of them, do not make any divisions in the law, the law is the law, theologians only divided them to explain them to people, so before God the law is one, it is not called laws but "law".

Since Jesus fulfilled the law, it can then pass away since the that's the second condition for it to pass away.

If you accept that we cannot live without breaking the law, then are you having bordered about someone breaking the tatoo law?? SMH!!

My brother the bible teaches that if you break one law, you will be guilty of all, so if you are guilty of all it means you are still a sinner and not under grace, the law empowers sin but grace strengthens a believer, you cannot be under the law and grace at the same time, because the law is the strenght of sin
