aManFromMars: Where should they make recommendations? On this thread too?

I don't see why not. If we can make recommendations for FP here, then recommendations for the Library thread can be made here too.

My point really is that the Reference thread serves a far greater purpose to allow for complaints, even when those complaints are 'properly' made. The distractions (complaints etc) should be brought to a minimum, if not totally erradicated.

So you term our complaints distractions because xtians are mods?

Why didn't you say so when an atheist was moderating? And you haven't said that for all other complaints threads in other sections. SMH @ xtianity.

I think that sometimes you, in a desperation to appear balanced, end up unhinged. tongue (sorry, couldn't resist that)

Your concerns are noted. But rest assured that I had thought of this before opening that thread.

If you notice, the categories are made in separate posts. They would be regularly updated or modified based on subsequent posts and recommendations made by others. So, the issue of complaints and recommendations will not in any way distract anyone who just wishes to go through the list of great threads.

NO!!!

As far as nairaland is concerned, posts are limited to a certain number of 'characters' beyond which a new post must be made. If they weren't then you would have been right in your assessment. As it stands, there will definitely be a need to move from post to post giving this limitation. Allowing complaints there would hinder the flow and for me that is not acceptable and it constitutes a major distraction.

Consider a situation where you or the mods would need to make an update but instead of doing that on the first passage, you find yourselves doing that after 10 pages of complaints. This for me is NOT proper.

If I click on a reference thread, I expect to see references and not complaints. If I can't find what I am looking for on the first page, I should be able to follow through my search orderly without having to go through the hassle of the 'distractions'.

Recall that a Reference thread is also desirable because of the convenience it affords members. Any post that brings about any inconvenience is unwelcomed in my view and that is what complaints do on that thread.

Oh boy, updates are made on the first page. All I have to do is modify the first posts. I really don't get your point.

There is a point you will get to that you can no longer make updates to a post unless you want to delete and update by an equivalent number of 'characters'. One post cannot accommodate every 'character' ad-infinitum. There will come a point that a separate post MUST be made in order to continue.

Injustice should be spoken out against boldly wherever and whenever it is noticed. It is something no one should condone. Peace can never thrive where justice fails.

If you believe strongly that Catholics have been unfairly threated and you have the much needed proof to argue your case, then by all means continue to argue your case out and I will definitely be there to support you when I have the time.

What I ask you as a brother to stop, is the 'rolling around in the mud' with Enigma. It's not worth it. I believe you can argue your case out without taunting Enigma. Sometimes we achieve more by ignoring people.

The major ish we have here is simply that the mods do not work as a unit and what constitute an 'offence' is not properly defined and standardized. We see situations where a mod uses the 'big stick' on members for a 'crime' another mod is guilty of.

Another major problem is that the mods take decisions based on the 'reputation' of members. If Alfa commits half the 'crime' you complain of, I bet he won't go without getting nailed; but if on the other hand "Mr. Goody two-shoes" aka striktlymi commits same offence, I may go without even a warning.

We see a classic example in the case between Musky and Logicboy. Aji did right by hiding the post of LB on the 'best religion thread' as he ought to but the basis on which the posts were hidden is not fair and the reason giving comes to nought when we consider that HBG also refers to Musky as Judas without being punished for it.

We definitely can't curb this ish inhouse when the mods are unwilling to act with integrity and adopt a 'lady-justice' way of doing things. Justice should be blind and the agent of justice should act without fear or favour. Sadly the mods are unwilling to get their hands 'dirty'.

In the event that the mods are unwilling to do their jobs, I will suggest that you let mukina know of any wrong done to you via a pm to her and ensure you present your case clearly with the relevant links.

Anyways, this is all a deviation from the main issue. Complaints and recommendations on that thread isn't much of a bother. The first post has a link to each category to ease navigation. Nothing in this life is perfect. We'll have to adjust and modify, if need be, as we go along.

The first thread was similar to this and no one had issues then. I wonder why you would now. angry grin

Enjoy your Sunday.

That thread is veeeeeeerrrrrryyyyy veeeeerrrry important to this section and should not be where to go and call someone "Judas" or what ever.

the fact that you cant keep adding imformation to a post indefinitely without reaching its limit means that you should have reserved the first 5 or more post spaces for updates.

The bold is the exact reason why I care now! If the second thread can't improve on what we had in the first then there will be no need to have it changed in the first place.

Might have to bring out my crayons after this.

The 1st post on that thread is an introduction and summary of the purpose of the thread. I also included links to each category at the end of the post. From the 1st post, one can navigate to threads relating to Atheism, ATR's, Christianity etc...

Each category follows in subsequent posts in alphabetical order.

Recommendations and complaints can be accommodated on that thread. It's just a simple case of modifying a particular post if a new thread is recommended. The recommended threads will ALWAYS be on the first page.

@mods. Why is the fp so boring today. Unlike last week.

We ought to have more topics from the religious section on frontpage today being sunday.

And the sign as in 'NEW' which shows the topics i am following is malfunctional.
