Not too good! In addition to his jail term, effort should be made to recover his loot.

The judge is mad! Is Seven million Naira a small amount of money? The judicial system we practice in Nigeria is mainly for the rich.

When you have criminal fucktards like Mohammed B. Adoke, who (in collaboration with Jonathan) helped Etete rob Nigeria of $1.1bn, as your Minister of Justice and Attorney General, these are the kind of lunatic court judgements you will get.

Do you really think Jonathan and Adoke would help make laws that they might face the consequences of in future into a more appropriate one?

EBIRA people don't carry last .
I however look forward to the day this type of case will attract death sentence by firing squad i won't mind pulling the tiger to finish whoever does so .meanwhile all the property owned by the thief should be forfeited to the office where he did the stealing.

Ok...6 months in prison...why not a fine too?...or restitution...making him have to pay back what he stole also?

vicoloni: Well, six months is too small for such offense but he's nevertheless an ex convict the moment he steps out of prison. Even if its three days imprisonment.

Ah ah, that is a big title in Nigeria o. Ex cons becone big men here o if you doubt it ask dilly the owner of dilly motors that american 419 ex con that built that house in lagos and has mopol excort and hailed by young men as a sharp guy, ask ex bayelsa govnr Alame alas alas, ask the great OBJ himself and many many more like them. Corrupt judiciary, smh. Anyway sha, his reputation has been dented and every future political aspiration has met a brick wall. He now bears the tag, 'ex convict', like Bode George, and that on its own is enough mental and psychological torture that will hunt him all his life. If the same light sentences would be administered to all the corrupt politicians, that will put an end for any them from occupying any public offices, corruption, since would have been a thing of the past.

The issue here is not tribal the looting in that state has since gone beyond digital absolutely nothingg is working right from Lokoja to Ayangba to Egbe to kabba to Kotonkarfi just everywhere its a culture of looting I think brigandage will be a better word and nobody seem to worry so if death sentence come up they will sit up . Right now workers are being retrenced in thousands as a matter of fact I have info that the chairman of Ogori mangogo went ahead to acquire a #12 million jeep the day after sacking off workers ,, this can't continue if it will take blood so be it .

The sentence is too lenient. Ten years would have been ideal. EFCC should go on appeal immediately.

Nigeria have institutionalized corruption
In another news on ,a 22yrs baale pikin was sentenced to 17yrs for stealing phone and about N120,00.. what a country
Imagine my confusion! They both stole, they both endangered lives so what are our judges doing? Isn’t it the same law they are upholding?

http://www.punchng.com/metro/baales-son-bags-17-year-jail-term/
A Somolu Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Taiwo Jinadu, to 17 years in prison. PUNCH Metro learnt that Jinadu is the son of the Baale of a community in Bariga. According to the police prosecutor, ASP Adegoke, the accused robbed one Mutairu Idris of a Nokia phone, valued at N13, on Olokodana Street on September 13, 2013, in the Bariga area of Lagos State. Jinadu was also accused of stealing N110, 000 and attempting to kill Idris during the operation. Jinadu was further accused of discharging bullets and damaging the house of one Pa Mutairu Oluwole at 22, Ososa Street, vandalising property worth N55,000 during the robbery operation. PUNCH Metro learnt that the accused was arrested at a joint in a raid by policemen attached to Bariga Division. Our correspondent learnt that it was during investigation that the police discovered Jinadu’s true identity. The accused was charged with seven counts of armed robbery, attempted murder and malicious damage. The charges read in part, “That you, Taiwo Jinadu, and others at large on September 13, 2013, around 9pm, at a spot along Olokodana Street, in front of Standard Hotel, Bariga, Lagos, did steal one Nokia phone valued N13, 500, property of one Mutairu Idris (male), and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011. “That you, Taiwo Jinadu, in the aforementioned magisterial district did attempt to kill one Mutairu Idris, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 228 of Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011. “That you on the same date, time and place did unlawfully threaten the lives of Idris Mutairu, Idris Kareem, Pa Kushimo Mutairu Oluwole and Serifat Lukman, the occupants of 22 Ososa Street, Bariga, by discharging loaded firearms and damaging their residential house and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 56(1) (a) (b) (2) of Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.” Jinadu pleaded guilty to the seven charges. The magistrate, Mrs. B.O Osunsanmi, sentenced the accused to 17 years in Ikoyi Prison.

gratiaeo: Nigeria have institutionalized corruption

Yes we all have institutionalised corruption.

The judge, prosecutor, EFCC etc involved in this case are ORDINARY folks whom we celebrate in various ways just as we do our own petty corruption too.
How many of our relations, friends, acquaintances, mosque/church/shrine fellow congregants etc do we know who are living BEYOND their legitimate income yet we say NOTHING to discourage them
