C_JAY:More to whose point? Mine or yours? You can't be seriously asking these questions bruv, like seriously? Was there ever a country that developed and made a better name for themselves without bi-lateral relations with another? Where do you get off thinking you shouldn't care what the world thinks of your country bruv, like seriously Don't be arrogant my friend. They say 'Rome wasn't built in a day', but what they didn't say is that Rome had help from their neighbours doing it. 4 Likes |

coogar: They did that for a purpose. They gave us independence but still want to rule us by proxy. We have a problem that we can resolve on our own, we run to them. in fact they created the problems for us. So we run to them and they tell us how to solve the problem, not in our own way but with their methods so as to keep the grip on us. Then when some guys rebelled, the suspended us from a committee they set up which champions their cause. And now that same education they gave to us makes us think that they are the 'Big Sam' and we acknowledge it unconsciously. Since they gave us education, democracy, religion, will they also tell us how to go about it? If they also want to tell us how to use these 'tools' can't we be creative to refine these 'tools' and use it our own way? 1 Like |

ROSSIKE: Can you imagine the human sacrifice of 1 million Iraqis by Americans to the god of oil money? Far less uncivilized to sacrifice a couple of virgins to the gods for continued rainfall. Not just the Iraqis only ....how about the American boys and girls that were caught down in their 20 s just because one statesman cried 'WAR'.... The West has always since time immemorial initiated human sacrifice on large scale while masking it with war and liberation Everyone knows that Princess Diana was sacrificed on a location of an ancient oracle(the location of that accident in France was an ancient shrine belonging to the both monarchies after all they all remotely share the same bloodline) by the monarchy for trying to defile the monarchy by birthing a child for a son of the Arabs there-by contaminating their bloodline with the blood of their most hated and inferior people....... The white man is a supremacist, they are only beginning to accept some level of equality because they are very much aware that they can't rule forever. As the centuries winds down so is the wind of changes coming and new powers are rising no matter how insignificant they may look now. 3 Likes |

I was sad when I saw, Anthony Bourdain's food show on CNN - the Congo edition. CNN went thru great effort, to potray the DRC as bleak, dark, empty region. Compared to all the fine cuisine in the U.S and Europe, all the man could show as per food in DRC was some roasted corn and 1 bottle of Maltex. |

I am really ashamed at the kind of posts some so called Nigerians are posting on this thread. I dont believe these are Nigerians. They are total sellouts! Denigrating your country because of your inferiority complex. So sad This was how they used the western press to deceive Egypt and Lybia to change their leadership. Now, they are completely messed up! They called it freedom They called it the triumph of the people. They called it liberation. They called it the Arab Spring. Now, it is the Arab Scam! Those countries are in a spiral and only God will help them. They have been deceived, just like some people on this thread! 4 Likes |

I have read OP's original post 4 times trying to see whether he put his foot in his mouth by the title question or by the content of the post. I must state categorically that his position is a valid one. A question was asked "Have You Ever Seen A Well-Built African House On CNN Or BBC?" Either you answer yes or no! Is that so difficult?? OP says that he believes the perception of foreign nationals will be influenced by their never having seen developed areas in Africa(outside of SA, of course). Is that so difficult to swallow or does it sound illogical? Sounds logical to me. Neither of these stations have ever shown Maitama, Asokoro, Parkview or Banana Island. All places where the wealthy live. But as someone has said let's not use that as a yardstick. Have they ever shown Ilupeju or Yaba or Wuse? Where middle class folk live. The answer is no. Where do they show? Mushin and the slum parts of Lagos Island. The million dollar question is where do these correspondents stay when they are in Lagos? Plush hotels like Eko Hotel or 4points by Sheraton. I believe its disingenuous that they and the camera crew drive out of posh hotels where they sleep on feather beds and drive 30 mins or more to the slums of Lagos and set up their cameras only to end with "....reporting from Lagos". Then they pack up and drive to ikoyi or victoria island to have drinks with embassy staff in clubs that are of world class standards. Anybody that doesn't see the hypocrisy in such actions is not worth the time of day. Oh and kudos to al jazeera for when they report on Fed. Govt matters they sometimes shoot in front of the beautiful Fed. Govt buildings in Abuja. That is reporting with integrity. PS. None of this has got a thing to do with the pervasive corruption in the land, poor leadership or the fact that Nigerians ARE suffering. It just has to do with the fact that we live in houses not trees and we drive SUV's and wear designer clothes. Just like they do in the west. ROSSIKE: I haven't. 4 Likes |

A-ZeD: You mean the whiteman has no problems? The last time I checked, they where shooting themselves in the cinemas and shopping malls! Snap out of your inferiority complex my friend and get real! The western society is more messed up than the African society. Part of the propaganda is to make you believe our society is chaotic when it is not. If you listen to the news (unfortunately, the Nigerian media has joined them in the evil trend), you will think we are all living in fear of kidnappers and boko haram daily. But kidnapping only happens in about 5 states out of 36. Boko Haram only happens in about 3 states. But, according to the propaganda, boko haram has taken over Nigeria and all of us cannot come out of our houses anymore. Unfortunately, people like you have become their agents, spreading their falsehood 4 Likes |

PHIPEX: The extreme pessimism of Nigerians about Nigeria give credence to whatever evil the western media says about us. Some of us are so fast in believing every negative report about us but questions any positive news from Africa. Don't be surprised some Nigerians will agree with CNN if they say 90% of Nigerians are poor. It's what Chimamanda calls "The danger of a single story". That was one presentation I will not forget! 2 Likes |

n, it is really more than just not seeing a good infrastructure. It is the stories in the news of happenings such as the Aluu four, you then discover that in a place like Nigeria an accusation can cause you to lose your life by random strangers. It is when you start to read up on Nigerian news sites and read editorials about how it is ok to treat your kitchen help like a slave and not to be afraid to give a good "slap " when needed !!! What ?? It is finding out that there is a culture in Nigeria that seems somewhat primitive and backwards. |

pandabear: n, it is really more than just not seeing a good infrastructure. Please stop repeating the same crap. Is ALUU 4 worse than a man going to a shopping mall and shooting everyone around? Is Lagos more dangerous than London or the many cities of Russia? I live in Lagos. I walk around anytime of the day. Except from some trouble spots, no one harasses me. I cant do that in many parts of London. I cant even try that in Russia or India or Brazil. Mexican gangs have killed over 50 thousand people in the last 5 years, in some of the most horrendous massacres. Yet I dont see mexicans talking their country down. You Nigerians are a disgrace There are many states in Nigeria that are so peaceful. States like Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Sokoto, Ekiti, Ondo, Ebonyi are amongst states you can live without a single care. Stop spreading evil news about Nigeria 4 Likes |

=A-ZeD You are right and the OP is not wrong. His focus is houses and environs and yours is "things". LOL OP did not say that there has NEVER been a positive report on CNN or BBC about Africa. The impression of most foreigners about Africa is synonymous with Tarzan. If you tell some foreigners that Range Rovers, G-Wagons and Porsche's can be found on the streets of Nigeria they will howl with disbelief. Tell them that Nigeria has the second largest sales growth of champagne globally-They will send you to the loony bin. I won't go into what lies behind this deliberate attempt to maintain a continental image of wretchedness. A-ZeD: 1 Like |

theoctopus: Spot on op. I have always known this. The "80% of Nigerian live on $1 a day" story was actually cooked up by an NGO in connection with the world bank. The sole purpose was to raise and embezzle money. The biggest problem of most Africans is that they think anything foreign is truth! If only they know the level of fraud and atrocities going on in the UN, World bank and the western nationsThe $1 a day story is not cooked, but reality. |

ROSSIKE: Exactly. Many thoughtless people who walk around like zombies believing the worst of themselves, even without research. In your pursuit of painting Nigeria green @ all cost regardless of reality,U most times go outa Normalcy !!! What is the Population of Nigeria ? How many of the Population lives in what U can standardly call Home/House ? How many Urban dwellers have access to standard house ? And how about those in Rural areas ? I have been a Field Enumerator for the Feds for more than Five years and the only region/state I never work is SouthEast ....... From NorthWest to NorthEast down to NorthCentral .... Tour around SouthWest to SouthSouth (the worst of all) and even SouthEast...... What do U see ? We don't need to change the Title of the Topic though Foreign Media might have exaggerated due to some Agenda but our Government has never blinked an eye cuz they gained from it and U can't say it aint as bad as painted !!! Leave the comfort of the Metropolis and Travel around Just One state ..... U would be Amazed !!! U stayed in the comfort of your House and watch the streets ,U would never know 100km away from your backyard is entirely different story !!! |

ROSSIKE: Yawwnnnnn.... Who begged them to introduce Christianity? Who invited them at all? They killed millions more Africans than the handful of unfortunate baby twins who were killed among a small section of Igbos, probably less than 1% of the Nigerian population. Southern Nigeria had education before they came, and children were taught in schools using Nsibidi, the native script. Without foreign invasions, these things would have been developed and made widespread. Africans are the inferior of no one. Get that into your skull. you are a consummate rëtard.... a handful of baby twins? you call the killing of children by some idiotic practises similar to genocide a handful of child mortality? your moral compass belongs in the sewers. do you know the number of children who might have become great men that were murdered because of that evil practise? the white men gave your ancestors clothes to wear, relief aid to fight infections & diseases. they introduced education. hell, even after slavery was abolished, your ancestors didn't want to let go & it took a fleet of british soldiers to fight against your ancestors to stop slavery in nigeria.... rossike, your IQ is a single digit. 1 Like |
