ilugunboy: Very hard to fault those guys argument against the Minister.....Nigerians want tangible development reflected in ordinary homes, not developments on charts and power-point presentations.

As usual...the Ibos on NL will rather support the woman by insulting the Occupy Nigeria group.
You have a go.at sense oo. Whats the meaning of natter. What is wrong with NOI here, did she insult anybody. It seems you were born out of carelessness. Face-out.

It was a funny scenario yesterday... I and OccupyNaija are close friends on twitter and when she replied with the 'nabob of negativism' I quoted the tweet and tweeted 'really disappointed with you being a minister in Nigeria' you need to see the way she replied me and ontop that she 'Gbagauned' self. Nigeria is on the sinking ship of clueless and vulgar leaders. Is this how she replies her husband @ home cos addressing a Nigerian with abusive words is highly barbaric and naughty permit me to use that word

Yes....your fellow Ibos here have been portraying a rosy Nigeria going by their comments.....when in actual fact most of these bandits live a life of penury...while these same thieving government officials will still splash them with mud and dirt when they get to the villages this December.
The way this people portray naija, you would think they live in USA and not in this same Nigeria.

To those attacking NOI, i have one question for you;

Who do you blame when a science student in one of the public secondary schools in one of the LGA of Ondo state doesn't know how to solve the quadratic equation? is it:
1) The student
2)The school maths teacher,
3) The school Principal
4) The state commissioner of education
5) The minister of education

lincy: Sure P fund is not the way to move Nigeria forward I can remember my late uncle shouting on my family meeting on way forward for us is to "teach u how to fish " not to fish for us any more, the sure p fund is maximum of 18k to these individuals wat can it do for a growing youth if not a pair of jean Tshirt and a little for the wallet. Please I don't know hw this my suggestion can go so fair, for now nigeria needs no money to correct our mistakes cuz money geared the mistakes @ the first plz (corrution) the should be grass root initiatives creative minds put in place to super head the the grass root exploit grass root potentials the youths should show wat they ar good at on grass root base and not handled right there in abuja on grass root level Local govt areas no funding yet but super headed by creative minds (innovators) u will see ppl bringing out there best knowing fully well that there potentials wil be funded, to be sincre, I neva new I hv potentials in me till I met deadluck. Lost my first job , second I did resign due to tribal sentiment, walked up to a friend ask for 50k to inco-operate a company which I ont hv capital base for but thanks to God we feed from it now. To candid, Nigeria is too social driven the federal body should regulate the entertainment industries the youths 60 percent time is eaten up by socials to bad for the economy, I watch the white man and non citizens of nigeria that ar based in nigeria work hard even saturdays, my job takes me round companies and I see all this , and I fill bad about it . Do u know dey hv funs too? But on minima. There is some thing they call MAN-hOUR it is a catalyst for growth of the Economy of a nation is not negotiable once it is not use properly the econmy suffers it. The FEderal govt should stop throwing those stipens to the youth and come up with a grass root agender on hw to bring out the best from our youths without funding but place a target for best minds and creative once and u will see every one will want to bringout their best to get to the target cuz they know @ the best, the fed govt. Can them fund them to grow the business. The social sector should be controlled it is over-taking our nomal daily life tanx.
Occupy group has nothing to show for they failed @ there first attempt cuz they had no rulled out plan before the prev. Protest. I hate mouth war either. Govt. Should stop slaming the masses and th masses should stop slaming govt. Innovation is wat Nigeria grivs for right now and not spread of money we hav ppl dat can scratch out water from stones if the government don't fish dem out, the the occupy group should compile list of them and present to the mass and we will show support. The mass know the good leaders once they ar shortlisted we will follow pace or better still the president should invite these ppl and work with dem, u must not hv a post to help ur nation.

Boss13: I see nothing wrong with what the guy is saying. Our GDP is improving yet the standard of living is declining. It's so funny that inflation rate is single digit but the price of garri has never gone down. Then what consumer price index (CPI) did they use to calculate our current rate of inflation.

NOI is unable to account for revenue coming into the federation account. Sure-P funds are missing. NNPC is diverting funds, our debt profile is hitting the trillions and our budget for capital infrastructure is poorly implemented. Yet she claims to be minister of finance and coordinating minister.

Do we turn a blind eyes over these issues? I am surprised she termed the guy as negativism which I consider to be terribly wrong because the guy was only letting NOI know her popularity on the street and not in Aso rock.
Ask your state govnor what he is doing?

How was the country when OBJ/Yaradua was in power

Do you know the amount of money spent only on power sector only and still yet nothing positively came out of it.

Can you really compare and contrast. Mind you that Rome was not built in a day.

Why are people making excuses for NOI. Bi-weekly, the US govt releases non-farm jobs statistics (this statistics drives Wall Street and assesses govt performance).

Under the watch of Madam, we hear funds missing, poor budget implementation and diversion of funds. She is either a perpetrator or incompetent to handle the affairs of the Nigerian economy as coordinating minister.

First and foremost, she needs to ensure that the actual revenue the country is expected to generate is what we are actually receiving and that all expenditures are made for projects claimed (and not another oduahgate). She has to ensure that govt funds transfer (inflow and outflow) is transparent and traceable.

Secondly, she needs to fully implement our fiscal policies (I hear she is discussing with some consultant on this).

Thirdly, she has to stop Sure-P. The Govt is not a Business Angel (that is why the money is missing). She must look from a macroscopic angle by stimulating the manufacturing and agriculture industry (not just only by steady power supply) and also cheap and accessible loans.

Furthermore, she must grown the mortgage industry. I believe Nigerians will feel her impact more on this. Make housing affordable and available for the average Nigerian. Stimulating the mortgage industry can drive our GDP to an unprecedented level. Also, she must stop the lip service on importation and strongly ban products we can manufacture at home and cajole investors to come to the country and set up manufacturing plants as a condition to sell their products in the Nigeria markets.

In conclusion, her role as finance minister and coordinating minister just don't end on drafting and collating budgets but scrutinizing these budgets from ministries to ensure that there are no form of budget padding and the items would be implemented. Also, cutting down govt expenditures and looking for ways to generate more revenue. She must cut down on external and internal borrowings however necessary in order to avoid huge interest rates.

For God's sake, she is automatically the Nigeria's CEO (Business wise) and appraising her on all performance indices shows a poor rating. She needs to sit up.

Everyone is pouring in their diverse opinion,
I see geniuses making comments and I see beautiful minds calling in their option of solution.

Its not time to blame or fight over our tribal differences.
Think about it this way, what if s/he is from another tribe, would s/he have done any better?
corruption is not tribal, rather does it have to do with horoscope (zodiac blah....blah) or temperament.
it is a social, mental, spiritual, and physical issue.
It is universal.
I can claim to be holy sometimes but I don't trust myself when it comes to pecuniary issues.

This is not an excuse. If she wants to cause change she can. I believe that is what she intends to do. She might not be able to stop politicians from stealing our monies but she can make them reflect deeply.

If I were her, on a monthly basis I will publicize monthly allocation to state and also do a state by state GDP and compare them on a percentage level. I will also publicize IGR. I will discuss with international banks to stop receiving monies from politicians and where they continue, I will start writing dirty to international newspapers how international banks aid money laundering. When the ratings of these banks go down, they will refuse taking our monies. That is how to cause change and not telling the world you are intelligent, you have to show the world that you are intelligent.
