Mbeki To Go This Week by RSA(m): 3:37pm On Sep 16, 2008
The majority of ANC national executive committee members agree that South African President Thabo Mbeki must be removed from office, the ANC Youth League said on Tuesday.

"We have approached individual members of the ANC NEC to ensure that the removal of Thabo Mbeki becomes an ANC NEC resolution this weekend, and the majority of them are agreeing with us on this issue," said ANCYL President Julius Malema at a media briefing in Johannesburg.

"We will have Mbeki removed. We don't fight to lose. He is going. It doesn't matter who said what, Mbeki won't be president when we go to the election.

"It must be an ANC NEC decision by this weekend," said Malema.

He denied that ANC President Jacob Zuma had said Mbeki must remain in office until elections next year.

"I don't think we are contradicting the president , [but] he will speak on behalf of the NEC on Sunday," said Malema. - Sapa

I am not quite sure he has made much positive impact to SA. There is no point having him stay as the Leader.

Don't worry, when Zuma drives you into poverty, you will really be satisfied with yourselves.

I wish Nigeria had leaders like Mbeki.

South Africa need a motivator, someone who the poor will belief in and at the same time someone who the investors can trust and if you'v been following our politics you'll realised that Zuma is that man.

I should sound like him cause I am a member of ANC youth league in Western Cape,SA youth played important role in getting this country where it is today, and it is us again the youth who should take action when our leader is getting off track,Mbeki is a member of the ANC that is why he is in that position,he was voted by the people and if the people feel he is not representing them accordingly.then we must recall him from his seat.It is nothing unusaul in politics,Tony Blair was recalled from his sit and Gordon Brown was made Prime Minister by the Labour Party.
Zuma is going to make president as long as he follow and respect the advises of the ANC National Executive Counsel.Remember ANC govern South Africa, not individual, people vote for the party not individuals

Which investor can trust Zuma? Investment is going to fly out of South Africa when he becomes President. I see a Zimbabwe situation on the horizon if you are not careful with this Zuma guy.

The kind of wealth shift you are calling for in South Africa is not possible in a short space of time. To balance the disparity in wealth will not take just a few years. It will take a few decades. If you move any faster, the economy will crumble. You have to tax the rich something like 70% just to move wealth down to the poor people. No investor or business will come to South Africa with those kind of taxation rates and those who are already there will leave. I believe it was Negro Ntns who told me that when a society has too much wealth disparity, the only practical solution is socialism. It is a necessary evil in your case. All institutions must be Nationalised for the next 60 years if you want to achieve the kind of social utility you are talking about. You will face the same situation as Venezuela are facing now. The rich will not be happy, the whole World will hate you, but you will stabilise your society somewhat. If Zuma told you that you can achieve social parity in the next 10 years without mentioning this to you, then he is a barefaced liar. Infact, Zuma does not hold the prerequisite education to lead a nation like South Africa. It is a disgrace to the whole African continent that you elect a man like Zuma.

Mbeki is doing the best he can under the type of economy you have.

What is Mbeki's policy on education. Is it free?
Re: Mbeki To Go This Week by malaza: 9:40am On Sep 17, 2008
Thanks Ibime

To answer your Q, yes education is free in SA, but at tertiary level they only provide a state loan which you only pay once you start working and are earning within a certain bracket. Zuma is a populist who tries to please the crown he addresses without consulting and further more he knows nothing about diplamacy. I am an ANC member myself and quiete frankly would prefer an alternative candidate for the presidency next year, someone like CDE Kgalema, but i guess i just have to deal with what we have now.

@ Malaza & RSA

From what I understand about SA Politics all the people in Parliament, Cabinet ,Senior Gov positions even local mayors and councillors are "deployed" by the ANC to these positions?

None are voted for in their individual capacity like in the US, UK and other 'democratic" countries.

So please can you explain to me why the ANC (People like yourself I assume) are blaming Mbeki for the state of South Africa?

Surely the ANC in general ( again people like yourselves) and the NEC in particular should shoulder the blame? I mean it is the people you deployed that have failed the people.

Mbeki had to work with the "riff raff' ( for lack of a better phrase) that were"deployed" by the ANC into his government.

Why is the ANC not taking responsibility for the state that South Africa finds itself in?

What guarantees are there that  a Jacob Zuma Administration will solve the ills of South Africa where the Mbeki Administration has failed, given that he will also be working within the same framework?

Also if the ANC is so sure of it's popular support why not truly democratise the electoral system in South Africa and "Let the people choose their leaders" from the local communities right up to the president.

If I am wrong in my assumptions about how things work please correct me. This is merely my understanding of the South Arican Electoral System.

@ Amakaone

You are right in everything you said my lady except for one thing, i neva blamed Mbeki in any of my statements, in fact i defended him from some who said he neva did anything for the people of Zim. The ANC is devided currently, there is pro- Zuma ANC and Pro-Mbeki and i am not a pro-Zuma grin,.

forget zuma.the fact that we have this malema dude heading such a crucial position in the nation just shows the xtreme state of confusion and utter hopelessness within the ANC.very sad

Re: Mbeki To Go This Week by Angelheart: 12:17am On Sep 19, 2008
Really Zuma is the man for this job?? Kanjani?? I guess Malema is your man too right? Does Zuma even have a manifesto? What does he have to offer to the people and South Africa as a whole.  Mshini wami I guess. Zuma is just like Morgan Tshangirai (sp). They cannot make decisions and are always easily lured by juicy carrots,  Ask me more and I will give you the stats!!

What wrong decisions did Mbheki take?? You mean you do not see the changes that he brought about in our economy? How did he fail the people in Zim? Dont talk about his silence diplomacy. Did you know that when ALL the sunctions were imposed on Zim and ALL the countries retracted from helping/supporting Zimbabwe Mbheki was the ONLY leader in the WORLD to say' NOOOOOOOO!!!! I stand by Mugabe'.  Did you know that 60% of the industry in Zim is solely from SA. Food supply, electricity, you name it. So its Mbheki's fault that the Zimbabweans were/are living in poverty? Blame the westerners from withdrawing the funding from the world bank ndoda. There is more than what meets the eye because politics is a filthy game.

If people think that Zuma will hold the country's stakes high like Mbheki did, you have another thing coming. Nna kere, what the HELL is his manifesto?
Who will invest in South Africa with a fraudster and a rapist like Zuma?

The mistake that Mbheki made was to be Mandela's succesor and Just like Mugabe, he did not groom/appoint a successor well ahead of time.

Just to disageree further with you lenyora: Mbheki failed people with HIV? Yet Zuma slept with an HIV positive woman?? You know why we have high HIV infections in SA? We  had a turbulent past as a country, and this history is relevant to the explosive spread of HIV in the country. The most rapid increase in South Africa’s HIV prevalence took place between 1993 and 2000, during which time the country was distracted by major political changes. While the attention of the South African people and the world's media was focused on the country's transition from apartheid, HIV was rapidly becoming more widespread. Although the results of these political changes were positive, the spread of the virus was not given the attention that it deserved, and the impact of the epidemic was not acknowledged. It is likely that the severity of the epidemic could have been lessened by prompt action at this time. Moreover, due to affirmative action, a WRONG minister of health, Ben Ngubane, was appointed. He knew nothing about policy implementation,  Food for thought.

You also said Mbheki failed Zimambweans?? I think I have touched on that already!

RSA buti, you are right. ANC youth league will continue to play a role in 'getting the country to where it is today'. In shambles. You are right. With the leadership of Malema. Oh yes!! We are headed down south. The YOUTH will contunue ending up like delinquents in jails, will continue being careless and disrespectful. Crime rate will be on an increase. It is afterall the youth that are contributing to the crime right?/ WHat kind of a leader would openly announce that they will 'KILL for Zuma'. Instead of focusing on the YOUTH!! What a role model we have. By the way, what were Mbalula's contribution?s? Hmmm, I just keep fearing fear!!!
