I have same thoughts. I have also told people who swear that they are tribalistic only online but have friends of other tribes, that the line can easily get blurred. The line is getting blurred.

I have tried to take a philosophical view of this and this is my take:

I don't like what many Igbo say about Yoruba online. Many igbo feel the same too and they say they have to defend their tribe. I agree that Yoruba here cold bloodedly blood Igbo when the chance opens, chidding them of their place in the scheme of things, knowing that they can be wrong, but even if they are right, their words can easily get blood boiling.

Many Igbo are not cool headed enough and they fall for the tribal trap. They then go on to consistently mamintain the tribalism in several subsequent threads until emotions reduce. All this while, Yoruba will be pointing fingers, informing everyone of their bigotry. Yoruba can also dish as much as they take.

Igbo need some form of emotional anger for confidence. Confidence helps them achieve, more than any other trait. You can also call this boldness. Take away that confidence and you take away half the man. Many Yoruba here try to do this by going for the best rallying point for their emotional anger-the war, by trying to disprove as wrong most of what Igbo have been fed with as the authentic war story.

Yoruba are a little more complicated. Like to serve their dishes cold, and calculated. Proactive underneath but reactive on the surface. What this means us that, what you see them reacting to may just have been already planned out. Igbo bristle at this character and feel it is deplorable.

Yet there are no good or bad traits. You only have ones you are used to, influenced by your lineage and environment. Not the Yoruba or igbo trait, or any other tribal trait is right or wrong; especially if you dive into the primary cause of such traits. But do we have the temperament or time for that?

Many other tribes look on, some unconcerned, others secretly happy that these hateful tirades and open show of each others dirty linen, isnt about their tribe.

I don't know if this will stop anytime soon. It looks more like escalating. It will be a bitter war where nobody will win. I simply cant think of any tribe coming out unscathed...except again the north.
