Yes, have heard stories of worst things Christians did before renaissance. The thing is that Christianity has undergone evolution while islam is still static and resisting any attempt at reformation. Religion is the easiest cheapest tool at mind control. Get closer to any pastor with a large congregation and appreciate the kind of power those guys posses on the pew.
