You don't need to know the school he is going. There are many schools out there that will still give you almost full scholarship/assistantship without any standardize test once you have a good undergraduate grade in same course and/or good work exp still in the same field. So, continue doing your own research to get them and don't look for ready-made information.

Good interview there. Your admission terms is just like mine too. My exemption letter from my graduate coordinator is yet to come since Oct 20 but another one is on the way from the graduate school themselves.

I need the full House prayers because my interview is for tomorrow 8am in Lagos, i was rushed by these people at the Embassy. I paid my Visa fees just yesterday afternoon so i booked an appointment immediately and requested for an emergency appointment thinking i will get on the 15th to 20th of December only to check my phone this morning i was asked it was approved so i checked with them on their website and they gave me 2nd of December 2011 which is tomorrow sad embarassed undecided. I need una prayers oh oooooooooooooooooooo

Hi guys.

Pls a friend of mine is going for student visa interview on monday and he paid sevis fees lastweek wednesday and up till this momemt the reciept has not been updated on the sevis web site. But the payment has been recieved but it will take dhs few working days to process it.
Can he go to the embassy without the sevis fees or showing a scan copy of the payment to them, Will they allow him to enter the embassy.

@keneyinks: he can go with the internet printout from the SEVP page showing that payment has being made and receipt of the receipt is in progress. He should remember to click on the detailed print ready version. I went with that yesterday and there was no problem. @Screamie: yes @imperioux: i sent a mail to the school requesting a scanned letter, its faster and fail proof @Adolite: yeah, its God's favor and i'm grateful to him

@ TranceD pls explain how i can print the internet print out. anytime i log on its shows me Record not found. But we call the customer care yestrday i was told the payment has been recieved but its still be process by DHS.

@keneyinks: if it's showing 'record not found' that means your payment have not been inputted. Maybe your payment was received after 10am on a business day, say yesterday, in that case you will have to wait till the next business day, i.e. today for it to be processed. Or maybe there's an error in your form, then they will have to send it back to you for correction. Jst know that we are seven hours ahead, wait till late at night to check or tomorrow.

The payment was made lastweek wednesday and yestrday i call the sevis customer care, i was told the payment has been received but still with the dhs to be process.

@keneyinks: since the payment have been confirmed, maybe there's a mistake somewhere. Hope your friend used your date of birth instead of leaving the standard one there. Jst check with your friend, get the details he used. With the correct info you should be able to log in and view your payment details

Yea tranceD, my graduate coordinator sent the letter since Oct 20 and not yet here, i guess he made mistake on the address. So I asked for another one from the graduate school and they mailed theirs on Nov 22 and just some mintues after my post up there, I got a call from my mail runner saying I'm having a new letter from the graduate school. Hulala! faster than I could ever expected.

This is not a palatable news but there is still hope so far you don't give up. However I will strongly advice you post how your visa interview went here for others to scrutinise and make comments on it. This is necessary as it might be to your advantage when next you appear for interview.

Dude, are you saying the mail that was sent out on the 22nd Nov, 2011 is here in Nigeria on the 1st Dec,2011. If that's the case, I can only say you are lucky man. May the good works you have contributed here speak for you on the day of your interview. it is well with you man.

Sorry about the temporary setback, you weren't denied, you were only delayed!!!

Would you mind sharing your experience so the house can do a postmortem on it for the benefit of those of us waiting to be interviewed? Besides, the contributions will also help you alot on the return leg  smiley

kennyinks: pls tell ur frnd to do as advised, some pple have gone for interviews without d sevis payment at all and were given a call back letter just to present receipt when they reappear and they were granted visas. so NO BIG DEAL abt it

I got my birth certificate missing and I want to know which one is appreciate and most acceptable for me to get for a 27 years old that USA embassy would accept. Is it:
1. the one that local government issue for token fees of 1500-2000k depending on the bargain though or
2. the one that National Population Census issues for a token fees of 9k

D one for NPC shld b ok, Pls don't let people dupe U bro, Go to their office @ Surulere, Its close to Nysc Secretariat, Its 2500 only and not 9k, Bu b4 u go there u ll Ve to swear an affidavit from the high court. U can use d high court @ Ikeja Dat goes for jst 500 box, NPC tks bou 2weeks to prepare d doc and I think 5500 if u want it done in 2 or 3 days so start now

@House, I want anyone who has the experience to please advise me. My school's in () and I wanted to schedule a flight to New York, I just want to ask whether there will not be a problem at POE in New York, since my school is in Alabama so why'd I arrive in NY? I am thinking may be the Immigration officer could ask me.

Any idea please? undecided

@Javeset, there shouldn't be any problem, I arrived at houston though my school is in a totally different state (about 4 hours flight from houston). I wasn't asked. But if you are asked, (i don't know the reason why you are not flying directly) you could say you are connecting with a flight to your school or something (esp if you have sufficient days between your arrival and resumption). You have a relative picking you up who has your ticket to your final destination state or your relative will help you settle in since it is your first time etc (remember this is very cogent if you have sufficient time between arrival and resumption). For me, Emirates doesn't fly directly to my school. I arrived houston and toured about 4 states before going to my school. Once you enter the USA, you wouldn't have any problems or show your visa to go into other states. All you need is an ID eg passport.

If flying from Nigeria to NY is cheaper than to Alabama, then you can claim that reason, afterall students love cheap things. Moreover, I think you can go through any POE.

@mysterysng, Are you sure that there wouldn't be any problem? Because I was wondering may be I could be ask. I suppose to route my flight to Atlanta but the fare's too high. So I decided to go to NY first so from there I'll go to Atlanta by train or bus.

Is that advisable?

Believe me mehn, students all over the world love cheap things one way and the other. Have you seen any student from a rich home rejecting scholarship before? Never!
