The sad part is that most of these protesters are victims of their own ignorance. They're mostly deluded, thinking Putin has pledged allegiance to Biafra, and "God" will intervene by sending Isreal to come and fight for/with them. Reading most of the agitators comments online made me burst into laughter. It is sad becuase I'm Igbo, and I cannot believe most of my people are this delusional.

Abeg make Naija allow the igbos carry their kaya go settle down for their area biko. Although i know Biafra map has surely changed now and i advise the igbos to go in peace and not force other uninterested states with various tribes into an unwilling marriage with them, leave all other uninterested south south tribes alone and go and form ya biafra, may de gods be with u.

Why MASSOB went to bed throughout the
period Jonathan was the President, only for MASSOB
to wake up from their deep slumber now that Buhari
is the President”, the Igbo cannot be asking for
sovereignty in a country that they were one of the
major stakeholders,“if MASSOB had
failed to achieve sovereignty under former President
Goodluck Jonathan that they supported, would they
achieve it under President Buhari they never
supported?

MASSOB was more active than IPOB during Obasanjo and Jonathan presidency.
Since the end of the civil war, Igbo is never a major stakeholder in Nigeria's political process. Because Igbo people and rest of south south were marginalized through lumping a whole 20 states in once one region northern Nigeria, but only 17,states in once two regions south
Biafra is not only an Igbos affair. The name Biafra was even proposed by an Ijaw and was adopted by representatives of people of older south east region.
Jonathan loss of election had nothing to do with marching for Biafra now. IPOB and its leaders through Radio Biafra broadcast the truth to Biafrans during the Jonathan administration.

PMB came with his Fulani-type of sectional leadership, IPOB fully mobilized Biafrans for total secession from Nigeria.

Stop rewriting history.

Biafrans locked it down with Yorubas in the politial section of nairaland where yoruba 'propagandists' and other biafra head hunters prepare and dish out all manner of lies and falsehood against the biafra struggle and emancipation. That is why nairalanders no longer see the e-war of calumny against biafra on front page of nairaland.

'Lies and falsehood may have travelled thousands of miles but it takes one giant leap of truth to out run it' ...lordofjustice 2015

Viva Biafra

Rochas Okorocha issued this type of warning before and we all know wwaht later happened. Hope the Cross River government is not indirecting protesting why there was no protest in Akwa Ibom too. But Emmanuel Udom should not worry; the mega protest at Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi will be more than calabar carnival.

Unfortunately na only yoruba nation newspaper dey promote Biafra Republic nowadays. may grease to their elbow

Yoruba ''Propagandist''

Biafra ''Head Hunter''

Now Tell me who is the Propagandist?

I used to be a fan of the Nation during my school days......nice editorials, columns and articles.....until I started reading tribal stories and I discovered that the Nation had a direction linked to the SW......a tribal paper......then I didn't understand why my dad always read the sun...........till I became a ardent reader of the Nation before I understood that different papers speak for different tribes......Tinubu owns the Nation.....so what do you expect from those who are trained in the art of propaganda.......I stopped reading the Nation and till today, I don't read most papers......even complete sport is filled with lies too........so when I see the nation as a source as it concerns politics, I know where their allegiance lies

For me, the diverse shades of history disclosed by this thread is indicative of the need for the UN to clarify the status of the people groups in the region before throwing its weight behind the inalienable rights of the Igbo to self-determination.
I may sound unpopular but methinks the best option for the Igbo is not Biafra but reentrance. Reentrance into Nigeria by way of reorienting the next generation of Igbos. I say this for three reasons 1. Given the population of the Igbos and the land mass available to them it is inconceivable they will not need to exist in diaspora-and in large numbers too! 2. Chinua Achebe had this to say -"There is no doubt at all that there is a strand in contemporary Igbo behavior that can offend; by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness." Correct this and the age long tendency to distrust The Igbos harbored by many will vanish into the resultant convivial amity. 3. I'll miss Igbo cuisine and my Igbo brethren whom I'll require a visa to access should they insist on leaving! So long

Bros nobody is saying dont have biafra; but why drag unwilling non igbo communities into your struggle.
this is the beginning of failure.
.
Una turn me to reporter today;
from where I queued for pms 4 hrs to the office; my ogas; co workers and even laborers on site.
.
I asked if they knew today was IPOB rally.
they said no,
.
I den asked what was their take on this biafra issh;

they all said the don't want to be part of biafra.
.
that biafra can secede if the want.
.
.
I think you guys should have a referendum within u guys and speak with one voice.

cuz nobody takes yu guys serious
.
Biafra with ss will be a war zone.
look ar S. sudan.

4gt abt ss.

I totally agree with you. This has always been my problem with this whole biafra debacle- their assumption that south-south will be a part of biafra. That's an unfortunate assumption. I'm a cross riverian and I can tell you authoritatively that I've not met a single cross riverian who has the slightest bit of interest in being part of biafra.

I have no problem with our ibo brothers clamoring for their own nation but they should know that it's exactly what it is-their nation, and it has nothing to do with south-south. If they still intend to force other unwilling people to join them, then what moral justification do they have to demand secession from Nigeria that they claim is holding them against their will?

I'm tired of this biafra talk abeg.
