Several contentious religious leaders could be sent to prison for not adhering to the demands of the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission).

Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva who is the head of the Commision told News24 that she had asked the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to advise on their next legal course of action.

As reported by News24, Mkhwanazi-Xaluva said Christ Embassies Pastor Chris Oyakhilome had shown that he would fight the commission in court before he will adhere to its demands.

The Commission which is said to be investigating the commercialization of religion and the abuse of people's beliefs has summoned several religious organizations to appear before them.

Those summoned to the hearing were expected to bring their ordination certificate, the church registration certificate, bank statements and the annual financial statements beginning from 2012.

The commission’s head while speaking to News24, said she could not fathom why various pastors who collected money from their followers cannot provide the commission with their financial records. Also she said they were looking at probably filing charges of intimidation against some of the religious leaders who have publicly threatened the commission.

"We are forced to take the legal route because some of them are not complying and we cannot be held [to] ransom by a few,” she told News24.

“Some of these religious leaders will face prison if they do not comply and we have been clear about our course of action. Some religious leaders have also threatened the commission, which is leading us toward the legal route. Saps have been notified already,” she said.

“These people take money from people. What are they doing with that money? We want to know. We will not back down,” she said.

Mkhwanazi-Xaluva in her response to the Christ Embassies Pastor Chris Oyakhilome said, “If he intends on that route, we are ready. He will have to face the same fate as the others who refuse to hand over their financial records”.

Chris Oyakhilome popularly known as "Pastor Chris" is a Nigerian minister who is the founding president of Believers' LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as "Christ Embassy", a Bible-based Christian ministry headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.

His ministry runs several arms including the Healing School, Rhapsody of Realities (likely the most translated book in the whole world, 660 translations), and an NGO called the Innercity Missions for Children as well as three Christian television channels: LoveWorld TV, LoveWorld SAT and LoveWorld Plus. Oyakhilome's television programs feature his faith healings, miracles and large meetings which his ministry organises around the world, with gatherings of over 2.5 million people in a single night's event.

On 11 June 2015, Oyakhilome received an honorary D.Sc. degree from his alma mater, Ambrose Alli University. Recently, on Friday, the 23rd of October 2015, Oyakhilome received another honorary D.D. degree from the Benson Idahosa University.

Oyakhilome's ministry has expanded rapidly beyond the coasts of Nigeria and South Africa, and he now holds large meetings in the United Kingdom and the United States and has Healing school sessions in South Africa and in Canada. Oyakhilome has a strong following especially among youths and is notable for organizing the Night of Bliss South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Oyakhilome runs a global prayer network using social network platforms to send messages to Christians around the world regularly. He currently has over 1.2 million followers on Twitter, as well as his own social networking website called Yookos. Oyakhilome is also the author of the daily devotional "Rhapsody of Realities". It is currently available in 660 languages and distributed in all countries of the world. Oyakhilome also hosts Higher Life conferences in Nigeria, South Africa, UK, US and Canada.

As reported earlier by TheCable, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s wife Anita, filed for divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adul-tery”.

The divorce case, with Suit No FD14D01650, was filed on April 9, 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK, on Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors.

Pastor Chris had two teenage daughters, Sharon and Charlyn, with Anita.

However, an unverified report on OluFamous.com is claiming that the General Overseer of Christ Embassy Church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and his estranged wife, Anita Oyakhilome, have settled their differences.

Be decieving yourself. The jail theorem is invalid.
