A dynamic man, going by what i have read about him. He even joined Biafran side during the Biafra war, where he was finally killed. By who?

Your guess is as good as mine, OJUKWU

An Igbo from Onitsha, he was a science graduate University College of Ibadan and became involved in politics, later joining the military. He rose to the position of Major and was a conspirator and participant in the failed 1966 Nigerian coup d'état. He later returned to action in the Nigerian Civil War, fighting for Biafra, but was executed following a plot to agree a ceasefire with Nigeria and overthrow Emeka Ojukwu.

so why did you mention in your 1st post Dat he's a major in the Nigerian Army.
Boy, learn how to write about people.
if you hadn't mention major or Nigerian army & talked about his sports life. I d v kept shut.
your post ll make some naive Nigerians especially from Ibo land to start having error sympathy instead of empathy for the man. its unfortunate how he ended.
but it s to serve as lesson so Dat others won't make his kinda mistake

I appreciate the fact that our heros past deserve their rightful place in our history, but to say that Emmanuel Arinze Ifeajuna (1935–25 September 1967) was/is the man on the cover of that exercise book denigrates the man at best.

Does it mean if at all we wanted to so honour Emmanuel Arinze Ifeajuna (1935–25 September 1967) we had no award winning artist to give a better rendering of him or use his picture?

It was just a generic depiction of an athletic event.

Ifeajuna was executed by Ojukwu. Though Ifeajuna is not a good guy. He killed many people in the build up to the famous "igbo coupe". He killed Tafawa balewa and abandoned his body on the road.

These guys are bloody. None of them can be my hero.

Hahahahaha
All war heros are bloody, check your Bible or Koran for starters

The blood of this man will continue to hunt Ojukwu even in his grave. This man foresaw the calamity that will befall the South East if they proceed with the war, He suggested to Ojukwu to broker a ceasefire, Ojukwu refuse. Then he went on his own accompany by few others to the Nigerian army to broker a ceasefire for his people but the greed of Ojukwu was overwhelming. As soon as Ojukwu notice that he order his execution, What happened at the end? The same coward Ojukwu flee to Ivory coast and over three million Igbo's died afterwards.

OP, I doubt this your story. Ifeajuna was a failed coup plotter who killed Gen Maimalari, his direct boss in the Nigerian Army. He failed to kill Ironsi his kinsman which was part of the target assigned to him. His failure to kill Ironsi significantly led to the failure of the coup in the south, wherein same coup was largely successful in the North. The failed coup ultimately led to the biafran civil war. Declared person non grata in the NA, his only choice was to fight with the biafrans. He was accused of treachery by ojukwu and killed by a firing squad. He rebelled against Nigeria and against Biafra, and I am wondering who will dare honour ifeajuna by putting him on notebook used by millions of Nigerian school children.

I detest write-ups that praise this guy without mentioning his evils.

The above write is like saying the Murtala Mohammed was the best leader Nigeria ever had despite his evils - robbing from CBN Benin and murdering of all males in Asaba during the civil war.

Ifeajuna and his cohort-Army-Majors executed a coup that brought enslavement to Igbo people and other tribes of Eastern and Midwestern Nigeria.

After reading some comments of Emmanuel Arinze Ifeajuna (1935–25 September 1967) military career, I can't help but wonder, if Ojukwu was honoured and made a senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria, why can't we leave sentiments and do same for the man to ever won a gold medal in an athletic event for Nigeria?
