chyk91: I very much doubt that is what this is about considerig the state gets about the highest in allocations each year compared to other states. If the local governments wanted to develop, they would, but that these men decided to overlook the fact that there state governors who are responsible for developing the state, are not doing the job and it is not that the money is not available to get it done, I suspect this is not about development at all. |

yea, the real poblem is that their leader steal al the alocations meant 4 development, but this militants dont see it that way, they see it as the govt is taking their resources and spoiling their lands without compensating them adequately, so they start kidnapping, but seriously, blame their govs. |

I have some questions for 1. Lawyers: - Is the Amnesty constitutional? Is it Executive or Legislative? How binding are its terms? Where are points of possible breaches either side? 2. NIPSS & F.M. Finance: - Was this money budgeted for? Where is it coming from? b. What salray/ reward structure was used to "compound" the existing National Minimum Wage to arrive at 20,000NGN? 3. State Governors: - After the "rehabilitation", is there employment ready in the job market? or will there be 'loans' as well? How well will society bear (ex)militants, trained for long months psychologically and physically, as briefly (re)trained semi-skilled workers? Nairalanders who fall into any of these categories, please answer. There are some amongst us, else, ask those those mentioned conn-kg |

Re: Amnesty Package: Militants To Get N20,000 Each Monthly - N1,500 For Food Daily by Kobojunkie: 10:26pm On Jul 18, 2009 |
You don't even have to ask how many people want to become millitants. The chances are high that more and more groups may turn to millitancy from now on. This has to be illegal, and definitely unacceptable. |

Kobojunkie:. You are so right . Whats the point of holding a peaceful demonstration when u clearly know it would have no effect. Anyone who says violence does not pay is clealy a joker as shown by the actions of the militants. I've known for along time that they are all wankers in da govt this step taken by them just confirms it. The lot of em' bloody waste of space. |

Every day Yaradua keeps rubbing shit on the Nigerian flag by the series of preposterous solutions he profers to challenges of governance. Even his anthem of "rule of law" has since faded into the oblivion. Please Mr President, we hereby absolve you of the responsibility of your vow to abide by the rule of law. You can now start thinking right! Haven't you ever wondered why things were not so bad during the last regime? Why are these boys suddenly bolder than they ever dreamed of when Baba was in office? Nigeria has become a comedy before the nations of the world, begining from the appearance of the President, to the rubbish policies that come out of him and his cabinet. I hope he employs a better Adviser on constitutional matters because it is obvious our dear president has no knowledge about the contents of the document he swore to uphold. Then maybe he would be informed that you have to be pronounced a sinner before you will be granted pardon. We really need divine intervnetion in this Nigerian state! |

Once again we see this tiresome scenario where Nigerians condemn without suggesting any alternative solution. Oya, what do you 'experts' suggest the Government do? |

I dont know what the unemployed are waiting for, till they are 40years old-why not form a coalition too and fight this injustice. Nigeria is now God for all everyone for himself. |
Re: Amnesty Package: Militants To Get N20,000 Each Monthly - N1,500 For Food Daily by mybad: 1:32pm On Jul 19, 2009 |
So, after all the arms and ammunition that went into the conflict in the Niger delta , the innocent people who lost their lives and homes and the precious man hours of off shore oil marketers in the oil rich zone. All we can come up with is a round table discussion in form of amnesty for militants. This isn't my idea of dialogue, it is irrational and it won't yield good results in the long run. |
Re: Amnesty Package: Militants To Get N20,000 Each Monthly - N1,500 For Food Daily by diehard1: 1:43pm On Jul 19, 2009 |
This is one of the craziest things i've heard of in years. The international community will also be wondering what is wrong with naija. Instead of facing the niger delta problem and looking for ways to tackle it, we are looking for ways of tackling the "militants" and pushing the real problem under the carpet. Let us assume the millitants agree which i know they won't, what happens to the common man over there? Are they just interested in pumping the F**king oil? This pay package will cause uprising in other forms all over the country. If the money allocated to settling this guys stop coming what happens? the cycle repeats itself. FIND LASTING SOLUTION AND NOT SETTLEMENT. Pls they should not publish such things on the pages of newspaper to save our face in the international community. This our rebranding business is already being mocked |

Until we, as Nigerians get up and say enough is enough. Until we realize that we deserve much, much, much more than we are getting, until we get to the point of no return, when we are prepared to die for what we believe in- indeed until we believe in anything other than in our personal comfort- we will continue to be led by our noses, CHXTA, |

This is a Simple Illustration that our (imposed) Government is willing to "settle" any group that tends to violence, understand that am not condemning the militants because of the method they are using, The emphasis is that "our" government prefers to settle instead, then sweep the real issue under the carpet, what a shame, lannre:This is serious i gbadu the idea, all unemployed in the house, how do we proceed?? |

wait lets do the maths assuming the 10,000 accept the offer=[20,000 + (1500 x 31)] x 10000 =N665000000/month N665million per month over 7 billion naira a year spent on people that dedicate their lives to destroying lives and property it looks to me like they are encouraging this kind of behavoir |
