Dude,u have to meet the adminstrators in your office to know the kinda priviledge u have(is it user,admin or power user)?also,using an enterprise version of an antivirus entails a lot of policies that can be deployed to users to restrict them from somethings and most importantly,check the firewall settings too.
Also,dual bOoting 2 OSes that is not properly configured may be responsible.linux makes use of more resources than windows.it would have be safer if,from scratch u partitioned ur hard disk then installed ubuntu first then installed windows next than to installed ubuntu on an already installed windows.(Then I'd use easy bcd to dual boot)
Finally,u can format the partition containing windows and re-install..that way,you wld know the amount of shared memory..

will sort it out. iv got the admin privileges on the server. its the norton thing thats causing it, dragnet's fix has helped a bit tho.

Hello computer specialists,i'm having a big problem which i think i can get help here. I have a hp laptop which i bought 5 months ago,so as I was charging it this morning,i perceived a severe burnt smell from the charging port,i quickly disconnected the charger immediately and tried to switch the laptop on by pressing the power button which i usually press to on it but it refused to get on. So please what has happened to it and what do I do? Please I need quick answer. God bless!

I bought an Hp G72 laptop but after booting i discovered that it does not have bluetooth, please, i want to know whether is it that the Bluetooth hardware (onboard Bluetooth) is not there or do i have to do any upgrade so that the bluetooth can start functioning. please i really need help on this issue. if it is hardware issue, how do i solve this problem. thanks

If your computer is connected to the network and server. the problem might not be the computer its self, i should have asked if you are using domain account or local account to log in. if you are using domain account and you have loads of files on that account, Logging on and off is going to be slow as it is copying to the server and back when you logging off and on. you could try swapping the cable( if you use one). you can just try and rule that out that its not the cable.

I suspect you might be using domain account since you use server 2008. they all use roaming profile.

If you are the only one using the computer and no one else, why dont you just lock it instead of logging off?

The best I can recommend is HIRENs BOOT CD on usb v15 and very customise-able.it loads in linux environment and can violate any windows RIGHTs.besides,any troubleshooting tool has to be relevant to a need and it takes a lot of practice

Pls refer to the product manual and specifications of that particular model.hp g72 is a series as in there is g72-b61nr,g72-b67us...and some of them are subject to region so its possible that your model may not be full option.to find out the exact model u have..look under ur laptop or click on start,then accessories..system tools..system information.there u wld find the specific system model..when u get that,u can simply type that on google for specifications

U must have burnt the power pack of your laptop.see a hardware techician for help..in the future,its advisable u don't always leave ur charger plugged to your laptop when u switch between nepa and generator.first,u switch on your generator and allow a steady flow before u charge(ie,if ur charger is left in ur laptop and u switch,it tends to consume all the voltage)

Yeah i did check again, it actually uses a roaming profile and i indeed use a domain account. you are right.

i did wonder if the backups were the cause bt i asked the chap who set it up and he ruled it out, gave some lengthy gibberis explanation. anyway like i said i only use it for word processing and the files on it cannot be more than 20MB. i guess its a straight shoot between the Norton and the server.

either way i will sort it out on friday. thanks

Uninstall the image program(it might not necessarily be image program but any program you installed before) you installed before you start experiencing this problem. Or I would say scan your system for viruses and malwares.

Click, start, run, and type this inside the run
box mrt press enter and follow on screen instruc....

acer alt and f10 to mention a few.

Too late dude..that's a SALITY trojan which propagates everytime u open an executable(exe).its first target is to attack your antivirus and make sure u can't even install any other..if immediately,you used system restore,u cld have save the situation.for now,all your programs:regedit,antivirus etc would stop responding.SOLUTION:remove ur hard drive and any related hardwares and find a clean system wit a strong antivirus(with upto date UPDATES)I normally use kaspersky..it would only disinfect the infected files.for avast,month tolerance..it wld delete..anyways,u might have to do an OS repair(if properly treated) or u do a clean format.

Deji,that's a last resort.its not an impossible situation yet.as I said just remove harddrive and scan as removable in anoda CLEAN SYSTEM with strong antivirus then repair the OS
