D:/ IS NOT ACCESSIBLE
THE REQUEST COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE OF AN I/O DEVICE ERROR.
I've tried several cds nd dvds but no show, so i culdn't format my hard dsk frm my dvd-rw, so i dcided 2 get anoda cdrom nd a dvdrom but wen i fixed dem 2 my laptop nd boot in safe mode nd open my computer i kuldn't find d cd drive so as 4 d dvd drive but weneva i insert my own dvd-rw it shows in my computa but cn open it's content, i've tried add hardware, device mgr, e.t.c all shws me my drive is upto date and functioning well.

Check your firewall settings and allow access to the internet for the applications.

@cnwamo: The problem will resolve itself. Compaqs usually develop that problem. Don't touch your lappy just leave it alone and try to use it normally much later like after four hours,

Thanks for the above enquiry and do appreciate your explanations.

Here's your diagnostics. disconnect any object such as battery, charger,

usb stick, printer et cetera. Don't be alarm ! After you have removed all

object hold your finger down on the laptop power button for 30 secs

so as to release any static build up. connect just charger then turn on

if you are successfully restart machine and pop in battery then charge for
1hour then test. Good luck !

Dear 1stknight,

Thanks for the above enquiry and do appreciate your explanations. we would appreciate if you
can write much better and use full words/sentence as to understand what you meant. Here's
your diagnostics to stop your laptop booting into safe mode. Get into safe mode like you did.

Click start> Run> MSCONFIG, on the BOOT.INI tab,  uncheck SAFEBOOT and click OK to restart
your computer then test. regarding the cd/dvd issues when in safe mode all drivers are disable
including vga, cd et cetera hence why is not showing up. bring up run again > type in

devmgmt.msc press enter look for IDE ATAPI click on the +sign then click uninstall on each item

not delete driver#click ok restart your computer

and follow on screen instructions it may ask you to restart twice or trice. afterwards try the cd again
you shouldn't receive the same message. if still no joy pop xp disk in or any installation disk so as
to verify if our hardware is working ok. turn it back on please don't wait keep
pressing F12 should give you boot menu go for cd/dvd and see if will read off the disk. if it does then
your cd/dvd drive is working ok. if boot menu not coming up try press C repeatedly until you see boot
menu and select cd/dvd then press enter and see if read off it. if no joy follow microsoft advice

what cd is that? have you tried to boot using an xp install cd (and format from there?) maybe the virus is also affecting your cd drive

first of all mr Luka you should know that a lot of times we are very busy - which is not to say that we won't be willing to help but the fact remains that we can only help in our free time; for everyone that gives free support suggestion we are doing it out of good will. i know it seems that sometimes we may answer someone's question more quickly than yours, it's not that we are ignoring you it might just be that we have the solution to mr B's question offhand while we have to go back and try to figure out mr A's problem. i personally have seen issues which are quite simple to fix ( for me) but because i will have to explain step-by-step and at that moment i'm not using windows and can't remember the steps offhand i have to leave the solution to someone else who can explain immediately or until i finish what i'm doin and can then login to windows and treat the person's issue.

that said, deji2009 asked you a question which you have not replied; (bear in mind that even a doctor cannot cure a patient if the patient is not forthcoming with answers to questions asked - especially if the patient is calling over the phone or remotely)

anyway sha here's my take: start your task manager, (go to start -> run -> type taskmgr); when it comes up click on processes tab then click on cpu so that the item with the highest cpu is at the top; take a screenshot of the task manager and upload so that we can get an idea of what to do next

Looking at your reply I can say the battery is the problem. reason that being is
because as soon as you disconnect charger laptop turn off. in technical term
this is often refer to as battery not holding charge . you mentioned you
did a battery diagnostics could you please tell us us how you did it.

If what you did is different from the link below then follow the instructions to test your
battery. if you have already tried it then no need to. worth trying though.

HP battery had known issues and update is available for particular model.

do you mean you out in the cd and the pc didn't start or you put in the cd and windows still booted?
go to your bios and make sure that your pc is configured to boot from cdrom before hard disk

wow that doesn't sound good, i just hope your problem is not hardware related; this your bootable cd, does it boot on another pc? (bear with me i'm trying to confirm that your issues is not hardware related; even if you were somehow able to format your laptop, how would you reinstall windows if your pc refuses to boot from cd)
alternatively if you know someone with an external cd drive perhaps you can test and see if you can boot from that -- after you've confirmed that the cd can actually be booted from
