ebosed:
Jewish holidays actually occur on the same day every year: the same day on the Jewish calendar! The Jewish calendar has a different number of days than the calendar you use because the Jewish calendar is tied to the moon's cycles instead of the sun's. The Jewish calendar loses about 11 days relative to the solar calendar every year, but makes up for it by adding a month every two or three years. As a result, the holidays don't always fall on the same day, but they always fall within the same month or two. The Chinese calendar (which is also lunar) works the same way, which is why Chinese New Year occurs on different days but is always in late January or early February. The Muslim calendar is lunar but does not add months, which is why Ramadan circles the calendar.
But why is Christmas celebrated in the same day of every year if they is disparity between these various calendars?

Top of the morning to you darling

POINT BEING THERE WAS NO HUMAN BEING NAMED JESUS CHRIST WHO WAS CRUCIFIED AND KILLED AND RESSURECTED. THESE ARE ALL SYMBOLIC AND ALLEGORICAL HOLIDAYS TO MARK CERTAIN WORLD EVENTS DURING THE BYZANTINE ERA BEFORE THE EUROPEAN RENNAISANCE
wink

There is more actual documented historical evidence by many and varied and independent sources for the existence of Jesus than most other historical figures.

Believe he was or was not God as you choose but please dont be so silly to deny historical fact.

Christmas originated as a Roman holiday eventually taken over by the Christians. We kmow Jesus was born in the Spring not in December but want to celebrate it sometime. But you raise an interesting point.

why is January 1 falling on different days?
January 1 is always January 1 and not January 21 just like the changes being made on Easter days, remember it's not the days of the week that is being discussed but the number of days in numerical order.

Jesus Christ is a group of people and not one person. CHRIST is a title and not someones name. under that title CHRIST are several elohims. but you have to read the bible very intuitively and scientifically and with the spirit of God before you can decipher these things. for example, here is a part of the bible hinting that there are many CHRISTS

1 CORINTHIANS 15 VS 23 Christ the firstfruits << SO THE FIRSTFRUITS NOT FIRSTFRUIT, ARE CHRIST ( PLURAL NOT SINGULAR ). THESE ARE THE 4 AND 20 ELDERS SPOKEN ABOUT IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION. POINT BEING FOR EASTER YOU CAN ONLY HAVE A SYMBOLIC DATE BECAUSE THE DATE IS SYMBOLIC OF THE RESSURECTION OF THESE MEN AND NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE RESSURECTION OF ONE PERSON. SO BEING A SYMBOLIC DATE IT HAS TO ALIGN WITH CERTAIN ASTROLOGICAL ALIGNMENTS LIKE THE MARCH EQUINOX WHICH ESCHEWS THAT LIGHT WILL START TO CONQUER DARKNESS BECAUSE FROM THE MARCH EQUINOX DO THE DAYS START TO GET LONGER THAN THE NIGHT.

Simply because it's paganism, her in that verse is the same as Mother of all harlots, ask yourselves who gave you holi(days) which is a pagan deity to celebrate, Google holi and holly wood see what you come up with, Satan imitates our holy days, didn't say he will be like the most High, our Pentecost falls on the first day of the week Allways, our God don't change, but Xtianity has many faces, Paul says One Adonai, One Faith, One Baptism, so why you Jesus freaks have many denominations or demoniation rather

Rubbish. You expect millions of intelligent people to reject the historical evidence including every academic historian on the planet in favour of some uneducated and ill informed fantasist?

Pauls first Epistle to the Corinthians like all his letters reveal Christ as one person! As does the entire message of the Bible. But the evidence I am speaking of is non Biblical but secular historic records including those from the Roman etc. A few minutes checking will repay many dividends rather than spouting some discredited lunatic theory.

exactly. narrow is the road that leads to salvation and not too many find it. so those MILLIONS you mentioned are confused. God guides the worthy to his wisdom. the true understanding of the bible ( which is a symbolic book and not a literal book ) will be given to a few based on their spirit. and it is given to the lowly and not the INTELLIGENT, it is given to a few and not MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS . cheesy

A few points:
The post was about the historical existence of a Jew of middle eastern origin called Jesus. His divinity or otherwise is a seperate issue.

Who enslaved who in the past is irrelevant to spitituality. African enslaved other africans, sold then fist to Arabs and then hundreds of years later to europeans. Europeans enslaved other europeans etc etc. None of this relevant to God.

No one enslaved me. The closest historical events affecting me are the English enslaving the Irish (I am an Irishman from Belfast). But that long before I was born and again irrelevant to spiritual belief.

Please be careful. Your post may begin to resemble these uneducated idiots who are failures in life and instead of facing their failure and trying to improve they prefer to play the fake victim and blame westerners/whites/other tribes/any religion associated with those they are jealous of etc etc. It eventually ceases to be amusing and just becomes irrelevant.

If you are speaking of non African religions then do remember that in a modern scientific world it is very hard to get educated people to believe in worshiping trees, bushes, streams, juju, mami waters, magic, animism etc etc so these thing are for those unfortunate to be still living in mud huts and denied the benefits of civilization.

You really need to be enlightened. You have forgotten quickly that the Easter celebration is a three day celebration, starting from Friday, which signifies his crucifixion down to Sunday where he arose from the grave. You would have done yourself a whole lot of good by not posting a picture thing because it is evident you know nothing about the subject matter.

Matthew 27:45 if Jesus was crucified and died @ the 9th hour on Friday and resurrected on Sunday ...is that 3 days ?

Why not ask yourself if you celebrate your annual birthday on the same day of the week you were born. If calender would be a major problem, God would have given us calender just like the Holy Bible. So which is more important, the mission or the day the mission was carried out.... Only One thing is certain, Jesus Christ came to this world on just one day and He died on just one day and He resurrected on just one day and He his coming back on just one day

The Bible does not explicitly state on which day of the week Jesus was crucified. The two most widely held views are Friday and Wednesday. Some, however, using a synthesis of both the Friday and Wednesday arguments, argue for Thursday as the day.
Jesus said in Matthew 12:40 , “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Those who argue for a Friday crucifixion say that there is still a valid way in which He could have been considered in the grave for three days. In the Jewish mind of the first century, a part of day was considered as a full day. Since Jesus was in the grave for part of Friday, all of Saturday, and part of Sunday—He could be considered to have been in the grave for three days. One of the principal arguments for Friday is found in Mark 15:42 , which notes that Jesus was crucified “the day before the Sabbath.” If that was the weekly Sabbath, i.e. Saturday, then that fact leads to a Friday crucifixion. Another argument for Friday says that verses such as
Matthew 16:21 and Luke 9:22 teach that Jesus would rise on the third day; therefore, He would not need to be in the grave a full three days and nights. But while some translations use “on the third day” for these verses, not all do, and not everyone agrees that “on the third day” is the best way to translate these verses. Furthermore,
Mark 8:31 says that Jesus will be raised “after” three days.

Read about it this morning and here is an excerpt.

''Father Dr Fredrick Njoroge, a chaplain at Moi University’s main campus, explained that since the year 325, Easter Sunday has been timed to occur after March 21.

He said the dates were determined by calculations by mathematicians and astrologers sanctioned by the Catholic Church centuries ago.

The church, he said, currently knows the date of the annual Easter Sunday until the year 4099.

“If Jesus does not come back before 4099, we already have the dates,” Dr Njoroge said.

Because of the irregular nature of the moon’s rotation patterns, the full moon can occur in March or April, which explains why Easter dates change from year to year.

Next year’s Easter Sunday will be on April 16 while the 2018 one will be on April 1.

“Easter can occur as early as March 22 or as late as April 25, which now tells us why sometimes it will fall within April''.
That to show that christ didnt direct us to do it . human mind not God mind . all crap

Some good and interesting points here. Some people count a day from sunset to sunset, or sunrise to sunrise, or midnight to midnight or even midday to midday. This must also have a bearing. Perhaps I will check what convention(s) the Jews and indeed the Romans used.

Easter celebration was a pagan celebration of the goddess Ishter, but the Romans Catholic Church Christianed it Christ's death and resurrection cos it sometimes coincides with the passover(same thing that happened to Christmas).

[b]you are unlearned. the understanding of the bible can never be received in an academic institution. it can only come from God.
