Ifeanyi Udeze was the Transition between Babayaro and Taye Taiwo.

His career suffered a blow with his multiple injuries and lose of his Dad.

Celestine Babayaro. Why he didn't make my list is because he played in both the 90s and 2000s era. Points with which to judge him in the 90s against Iroha was not enough and also points with which to compare him with Taye Taiwo in the 2000s were not enough to rate him above Taiwo.

yea, you are right no thanks to poak salonica, in the way they handle his injuries,

UDEZE is the go to guy when on form, that's y I calls him sweeper

He will dorn the no.8 jersey for Kortrijk in a deal running for 2+1 seasons... Congrats Ajagun... smiley

Official – Ex Flying Eagles Captain Ajagun Unveiled By Belgium Club Kortrijk

As exclusively reported by this portal three weeks ago former Nigeria U-20 captain Abduljelil Ajagun has joined Belgium side Kortrijk on a two year deal with the option of a further year, the club has announced.

The Kaduna born midfielder spent last season on loan to Dutch side Roda JC, where he helped them maintain their top flight status before returning back to his parent owners Greek side Panathinaikos.

Ajagun was allowed to go on a free transfer by Panathinaikos despite still having one more year to run on his deal with the Greek side he joined in 2013 from Nigeria league side Dolphins now known as Rivers United.

Last season he made 31 league appearances for Roda and found the back of the net 5 times, more crucially in games when they needed victories to ease their relegation worries at the tail end of last season.

He will dorn jersey number 8 at the club where the presence of his former manager at Panathinaikos Yannis Anastasiou swayed him to despite a late interest from fellow Belgium side Genk.

Exclusive – Nantes Coach Ranieri Step Up Pursuit Of Lille Outcast Enyeama

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that Vincent Enyeama could be in line for an imminent transfer to French Ligue 1 side Nantes following his demotion to the reserve at fellow Ligue 1 side Lille.

Nice were at a point the front runners for his signature but Nantes have moved ahead of them in the race to sign the shot stopper who has been told by new Lille coach Marcelo Bielsa that he is not in his plans.

Enyeama and ten other senior players have been demoted to the reserve by the Argentine coach, but while the rest are still searching for possible destination Enyeama has found favour in Claudio Ranieri .

Nantes 29 year old shot stopper Remy Riou has been sold to Turkish side Gotzepe and Ranieri views 33 year old Enyeama as a like for like replacement for the departed shot stopper.

At as the point of filing in this report it’s yet to be known if a transfer fee will be demanded by Lille for his transfer as he still has two more years to run on his deal with the team he joined four seasons ago.

Alhassan wants club glory above individual honour
By Ayo Olu Ibidapo

Akwa United attacking midfielder Alhassan 'Muazzam' Ibrahim has set his sights on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) trophy at the end of the season playing down on winning an individual prize as a priority.

The Promise Keepers are five points behind league leaders Plateau United who they meet in a top-of-the-table clash this Sunday in Jos, Alhassan believes his team are still in the race and can nick the title at the expense of Jos club and other top teams close to the summit.

Alhassan has been the leading light for the 'Promise Keepers' this season, having scored 11 goals in the NPFL and his optimism is high regarding his team's finish this season, hence he believes there is no need to hide their ambition anymore.

"The most important thing is to continue the way we've performed since the beginning of the second stanza of the league. So, our target is to win the league title and we will not give up that ambition until the end of the season. Though we started slowly at the beginning of the season, we have picked up and now understand ourselves perfectly.

“Our aspiration as a team is to add the league title to the FA Cup we won two seasons ago," the former Wikki Tourists FC attacker stated.

On the number of goals he intends to finish with this season, the former youth international, who had his debut for the senior national team in June, is hopeful of scoring more goals but has put the team's league title ambition ahead of any individual honour.

"I'm looking forward to scoring more goals for my team, and it’s not to win any individual award but the league title. My goals have won some important games for us this season and that's what I want to continue doing; it doesn't matter how many goals I score eventually," he told npfl.ng.

Akwa United are currently third on the log and have been one of the most improved sides since the commencement of the second stanza of the NPFL.

The Uyo-based team battle Plateau United, on the road this weekend, at the Rwang Pam Stadium in a Matchday 28 encounter.

“Nigerian Neymar” Dennis Bonaventure Bags Brace For Club Brugge In Pre Season Tie

The fine form of Dennis Bonaventure at his new club Club Brugge continued this evening as he scored twice in their 3-0 win over Oleksandria in a pre season game played in Holland.

The Nigerian has scored in his last two games for the team he joined one month ago from Zorya in Ukraine, and he picked up from where he left off with the opening goal for his team in the 19th minute of play.

Bonaventure grabbed his brace ten minutes after the restart to power his side to a big 3-0 win over the top division Ukraine side as they step up their preparations for the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers.

The 19 year old had a breakthrough season at Zorya last season in Ukraine as he was ever present for the team in their domestic and European games in what was his fist full season as a professional footballer.

Nicknamed the “Nigerian Neymar ” all eyes will be on him when Club Brugge begin their quest for honours this season as he is expected to play a key role for the team in their bid to wrestle the league title from Anderlecht.

Exclusive – Nigeria Rio 2016 Ace Imoh Ezekiel Completes Transfer To Konyaspor

Nigerian forward Imoh Ezekiel has left Qatari side Al Arabi for Turkish side Konyaspor , owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The 23 year old will be unveiled by the Turkish side tomorrow after the club reached an agreement with his Qatari owners for his transfer from the club where he has spent the last 18 months.

Ezekiel starred for Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Olympics where Nigeria won bronze, and despite offers from teams in Europe he opt to remain with Al-Arabi the team he joined from Standard Liege of Belgium two years ago.

His move back to Europe brings to an end an unhappy spell in Qatar where he failed to settle despite the huge wage he was receiving at the club. His unhappiness lead to a loan spell with Anderlecht six months after his move to Qatar.

Last season, the 23 year old who is comfortable as a forward or winger scored 8 goals from 24 league games for Al Arabi where he is reportedly one of the highest earning players.

Osaguona Ighodaro Heads To JS Kabylie Following Release By KV Mechelen

Belgium side KV Mechelen have parted company with Nigerian striker Osaguona Ighodaro who is expected to join Algerian side JS Kabylie in few days time.

Signed from Morocco Botola Pro side Raja Casablanca last summer, the 27 year old is expected to return back to North Africa on a free transfer with Algerian side JS Kabylie the front runners for his signature.

He will arrive in Tizi-Ouzou the city where the Algeria League giants are based to seal his move to the team who were at a point in time a feared forced on the African continent.

The striker who has two senior national team caps for Nigeria will be hoping to recapture the form he had when he first move to Raja Casablanca from Enugu Rangers upon his return to North Africa after failing to make an impression in Belgium.

Osaguona was released by the Belgian outfit after he failed to justify the faith thrust on him by the club on the pitch with a poor return of just 1 goal in the league from just 7 appearances all season long.

TURKISH MINNOWS BATTLE TO SIGN CHELSEA OUTCAST ON PERMANENT DEAL
Written by: The Shed Ender

Chelsea centre back Kenneth Omeruo has not played a single minute for the Blues since joining the club from Standard Liege in 2012. Instead, the Nigerian international has spent his time on loan at four different clubs, including ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor.

His reputation has grown in Turkey after spending his last two loan spells in the country. Last season for Alanyaspor, he made 26 appearances in the league, scoring one goal, and Turkish publication Fotomac have reported that there are now two Super Lig clubs looking to sign the 23 year old on a permanent basis.

Newly promoted club Goztepe and fellow Super Lig side Sivasspor are both seeking deals to sign the centre half.

It is believed Goztepe’s offer is the more “attractive” of the two, and it could mean Omeruo, who has 31 caps for Nigeria, could depart Stamford Bridge after a five year stay at the club.

Theophilus Awua is likely to return to his parent club Spezia in Serie B.

He was on loan at Inter Milan as we know but reports from checks I have made said he had less playing time in the 2nd part of the season for Inter Milan U-19s and was unable to attain the required number of caps that mandates Inter to pay the 2 million euros obligatory fee.

So having concluded the season, both clubs are expected to sort out his future with a return to Spezia the most likely outcome for now. Inter still opting to buy him based on his excellent showings in the first part of the season for Inter U-19s is still a possibility shaa... but time will tell overall.

He has been scouted by a number of clubs in Italy shaa.... but a return to Spezia looks like his best bet.

Awua got some rave reviews and a few section of observers who follow Inter u-19s who won the Italian U-19 Primavera with Awua also contributing, opines that Awua got Kante-like Potentials as a CDM.

So that is it My Good man.

And yeah... Your boy, Bonaventure... is doing great. wink

Icon4s, you're truly an encyclopedia, where Naija footie is concerned. I have heard so much from my senior brothers about the exploits of Yisa and Adokiye in the Super Eagles shirt. And they said exactly what you just said. They all said that it was Yisa who invented the wingback position in Naija footie. And according to them, Adokiye was actually the most skillful player in the Green Eagles team of that era.

And don't forget the likes of Sylvanus Okpala (Hafia), Elastic Henry Nwosu etc.

O pari

Icon4s:

Tell him bro.

I so much loved that guy called Yisa Shofoluwe. He IMO was the first modern RB we had. You will almost think he was a winger. He kept Eguavoen on the bench at Maroc '88 AFCON. Yisa I think took off where his predecessor, Tunde Bamidele stopped.

As for Okay Isima, tall and lanky CB. He was the "ball player " of that defence of the early 80s.Keshi took over from him ahead of the 1984 AFCON. I had to chose between him and Stephen Keshi. And you know Keshi will take the day.

Emma Okala. Fantastic goalie. But I will put him more with the class of the 70s. His last tournament was Nigeria 1980 AFCON. Best Ogedengbe was in goal in 1982. But Peter Rufai took over from 1983 and to the rest of the 80s. Rufai has it for the 80s for me.

firstly for the Aghahowa, Martins, Yakubu debate we have gone through it all night till today. You may just do a simple read up of my points on that.

And Replacement of Taribo West with Danny Shittu, did you guys watch Taribo West play at all?

Taribo West was always a better defender than Shittu however, they are from two different eras.

In this regard my comparison of defenders was era based.

God bless Gent for turning down the moves...
sometimes I wonder how these Turkish clubs manage to wine these boys.....
I never rate that league highly

Very low rate of tax and numerous ways around it you may be getting less effectively but much more in your hand in reality.

Taribo played for the national team up till 2005 while Shittu started playing in 2002. So they can be judged under the same era.

Golden Ball Winner Of Nigerian Descent Arrives Melwood To Finalize Move To Liverpool
Liverpool are set to reconfirm the signing of England U20 sensation of Nigerian descent Dominic Solanke in the coming days.

The former Chelsea wonderkid was pictured at Liverpool's training ground on Tuesday, and it is thought the striker was at Melwood to finalize his switch to the Reds.

Liverpool had offered three million pounds for Solanke but his stock has risen after helping the Young Lions clinch the Fifa U20 World Cup, and winning the Golden Ball, awarded to the best player at the tournament.

The Professional Football Compensation Committee will meet this month to decide the true valuation of the player.

Everton, Sunderland, Arsenal, West Ham, Rangers and Celtic were strongly interested in Solanke before Liverpool won the race for his signature.
