I love Shehu as much as I love his peers but has he really given us what we want at the right back?

Shehu is a makeshift right back though people confuse this with being versatile. Shehu is good and I want to see him in Russia but there still exists rooms for improvement.

In our DM Shehu does not stand any chance and the fact that he plays as a DM for his club ain't helping matter also.

Now if u want to take Shehu because he is a utility player, there are two positions to study with keen interest ; the DM and the RB.

at the DM, Ndidi, Etebo, Ogu, Onazi even Agu are all ahead of him, hence he has to concentrate on the the RB.

Now at RB, I will personally select Ebuehi as the RWB when I deploy a 3man defence. He is better suited than the other contenders. He has been doing it consistently on the club level and he just showed us a tip of it the last tine the had his back against the wall.

Shehu will come good in a 4man defense (433) but will he do a better job than Aina? Both players are good passers, agile players and almost equal pace wise. I don't rate English bred players but ever since started following the progress of these two players I av come to realize that Aina is more cerebral. The primary assignment of a RB is to defend, then create an impact in the attack. Shehu's defending ability was slightly better than that of, if not on par with Aina's but the Aina I saw lately has improved immensely on that with the WC on sight. Now going forward, the less said, the better. Aina edges Shehu here because he crosses better and times his runs better. Though these things don't make Shehu terrible, I believe Aina is slightly better.

Now why did I say his WC dream depends on Echiejile? Though it's still kinda premature. If Idowu repeats what he showed against Argentina, then it will be so insane to leave him out. With Elderson and Idowu, the left back is occupied but I would rather Elderson got dropped to make Aina a backup to Idowu hence creating a space at the RB for Shehu.

Who else thinks Shehu won't be going to Russia unless Echiejile is dropped? Really hard to stomach but we gotta be real and sincere. I can see and at the same time, feel it.

Aina might be the sacrificial lamb. He was very casual in the match against Algeria and against Argentina he was out of depths. I hope he puts in a great shift when he gets the chance, if not na im head Echiejile go chop go WC. Just saying this IF Rohr decides to take Echiejile

Through a press release via their official website, Ukrainian Premier League champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk have announced the loan signing of Nigeria national-teamer Olarenwaju Kayode.

The agreement between The Miners and Manchester City will keep Kayode at the Ukrainian side until the end of the 2017-2018 season.

Shakhtar Donetsk have the option to buy the Nigerian out of his contract with the Citizens when the summer transfer window opens for business.

The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star penned a four-year deal with City in August 2017 before he was immediately sent out on loan to partner club Girona in Spain.

The 24-year-old started out his career in Europe with Swiss team Lucerne, before spells at Maccabi Netanya and Austria Vienna.

He made 13 appearances for Girona in all competitions before he was recalled early from his loan spell owing to limited playing opportunities in the first half of this season.

The Ukrainian transfer window closed on Friday, March 2.

Nigeria Football Federation supremo Amaju Pinnick has strongly hinted that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will include Las Palmas midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo on the 23-man roster for the 2018 World Cup.

On Thursday, the CD Feirense loanee showed the whole world what he was capable of doing in Las Palmas' 1-1 draw against league leaders Barcelona, who paraded Argentina's Lionel Messi and Croatia main man Ivan Rakitić.

Pinnick says he's delighted with the progress made by Nigerian players ahead of the World Cup, with the likes of Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho now getting game time for their respective clubs.

''Our coaches are in a camp already. We have our players playing regularly in their clubs, so we are getting fully ready for the World Cup,'' Pinnick told reporters in Ibadan during the unveiling of the Odua Football League logo.

''We try as much as possible to talk to the coaches in their clubs that they are Nigerian players who must not play a second fiddle because they are going to the world Cup.

very talented footballer, but he has succumbed to injury woes. since I started watching youth football from 1999,i think the 2005 set is still the best. please who knows the where about of Solomon okoronkwo (I hope I got it right) the lanky but skillful guy who seems to miss lots of goals?

Idowu, we will see him in the next friendlies but Rohr has all but given him a slot considering the home advantage thing and his involvement as the unofficial translators of the team. If he adds a good play then he has made his selection a foregone issue.

I agree with you. But I am saying that in order for Aina to knock out Echiejile, notwithstanding Echiejile's current performance, he (Aina) has to be outstanding. That is what will strengthen his chances. If not if he's just marginally better than Echiejile, Rohr will take Echiejile because Echiejile has experience. What I am saying is that Aina should show Rohr that he is far far better than both Echiejile and even Idowu sef. That way he cannot be possibly be overlooked. But if na that kind Algeria game he play, Omo I don't see how he'd edge Echiejile out.
After the WC, whether Aina goes to the WC or not he will feature or continue to feature for Nigeria because Echiejile days are numbered. So NFF project won't suffer harm.
