I think rohr should use player like ajiboye ,eze, agu, for Congo match caus we can't play them with our best player, bcaus does Congo player are too physical& too Strong in other to avoid injury

Don't worry yourself, those are the players that will prosecute the match. Rohr himself had already said that the game will be played by fringe players.

Na fact I dey tell you. This season, he was only injured twice or thrice.
Just listen to yourself... This is what we're talking about! "Twice or thrice". Meaning he does get injured even more frequently.

I do not buy the injury prone argument. There are other injury prone players in the team.

Mikel Agu is NOT ahead of Joel... Joel came in and played games ahead of players that had been there for a long time. Ogu and Agbo have been in the team for longer. Joel must have done something right in training.

Joel Obi is a defensive midfielder, if you are looking for tackling, he is your man.. He is not the man to create chances for you. His friendly performances were not great but i expect him to make the team. He is good enough.

Harry Kane Named England World Cup Captain
May 22, 2018 9:41 am

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been named captain of the England team to this year’s FIFA World Cup.
Gareth Southgate made the announcement on Tuesday.

Speaking on Kane’s choice, Southgate said: “He is a meticulous professional and one of the most important things for a captain is that they set the standard every day.

“He has belief and high standards, and it is a great message for the team to have a captain who has shown that it is possible to be one of the best in the world over a consistent period of time.

“My feeling is that over the last 18 months in the camps that he’s been with us he has shown that he has got the desire to take that into a team environment and he recognises the importance of bringing others with him.

“Of course, Harry will need the support of the other good leaders that we have got around him.

“You don’t become a top team by just having a good captain with good values because that has got to spread right throughout the group but I think he is the one who is ready to take that challenge on.”

Kane’s only major tournament appearance for England was the 2016 European Championship in France where England lost to Iceland in the round of 16.

He was second top scorer last season in the Premier League with 30 goals.
England are in Group G with Belgium, Tunisia and Panama.

Brighton Set To Sign Free Agent Balogun
May 22, 2018 11:40 am

English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion are on the verge of signing Nigerian international defender Leon Balogun from Mainz on a free transfer.

Balogun is seen as an ideal replacement for Uwe Hunemeier who departed the club for SC Paderborn, according to a report on ESPN FC.

The 29-year-old Super Eagles star is out of contract at Mainz this summer and Brighton look set to bring him to the Amex Stadium having secured their status in the EPL for next season.

Balogun made 15 appearances in all competitions for Mainz this season as they managed to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.

The former SV Darmstadt 98 defender helped the Super Eagles qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and he is set to feature for his country at the tournament next month.
He has won 16 caps for the Super Eagles.

Exploring the global appeal behind the Nigeria kit enjoying huge demand

Nigeria announced on Thursday that the national team's new 2018 kit line had hit a record three million pre-orders, far outstripping anything that preceded it.

While this was the first time such official sales figures have been announced, it's clearly a number that leaves everything else in its wake.

Such high demand for a Nigeria kit is unprecedented, but NFF Vice President Shehu Dikko explained that they the federation were informed at a meeting with Nike on Thursday that the novel, throwback design was behind the broad appeal.

"They told us Nigeria is their best selling kit due to the uniqueness," Dikko told KweséESPN, "so it appeals to everyone both from a sporting and fashion point of view."

The VP was also quick to end any scepticism about the validity of the figures.

"The three million are not actual sales but orders placed by all of their stores across the world," Dikko added. "These orders will not be delivered at once, but probably over the lifespan of the jerseys, which have a cycle of about two years.

"They cannot produce without orders, and some of these orders may not be delivered until next year," he continued, "but the stores have placed them now to ensure they have consistent supply and don't run out of stock."

It's been nearly three months since the kit reveal, and frustration has grown among Nigerians who have been unable to purchase the attire, especially with less than a month to the World Cup.

Cheap knockoffs have flooded the market as a result, retailing for around N10,000, significantly less than the expected $85 (N30,000) that the original will trade for.

This is a constant source of frustration for both the federation and its equipment suppliers, with Dikko arguing that it devalues the brand and compromises the country's ability to negotiate good deals with equipment manufacturers.

"The people who will criticise the NFF for not getting a so-called big sponsorship kit deal are the same ones who will undermine our ability to do so by buying the counterfeit jerseys," said the football official.

"It is hard to negotiate a good deal when the people you are negotiating with have to worry about fakes being sold openly in the market."

It is a situation that is almost unique to Nigeria, where sellers of the fake knockoffs advertise their wares openly online and offline with no fear of consequences.

"It is shocking," says Biola Kazeem, a sports marketing consultant.

"Nigeria is the only place where this kind of criminal behaviour will be allowed to go unchecked. Something needs to be done."

As it stands, Nike do not seem unduly troubled by the rush of fake jerseys flooding the market...perhaps the record number of orders may have had something to do with it.
