Good morning everyone and congratulation to those that have realized their dreams through this wonderful forum. To all the seniors here, may God bless you for all your assistants. please I need your advice on what to do.
I am a graduate of agric- economics with no experience in this field but own and run a restaurant for over 12 years now.
I discovered I could nominate either café and restaurant manager or agricultural consultant which are both assessed by Vetassess.
the problem now is that my qualification does not relate to a restaurant manager and as for agricultural consultant which relate to my qulifiaction I do not have any work experience at all. Meanwhile Vetassess requires that your qualification must be relevant to choosen occupation. please everyone, I need your advice

No you can't. They'll most likely request you rescan.
You'll delay the entire process. 300dpi is required for EA

Yes you can....did that that for most of my hard documents including intl passport. You can download camscanner (CS) from playstore for better quality

Your question is funny though, you should know you can.

No be only boss, If I hear!

Since i discovered CS in 2011, i hardly use conventional scanner even in the office. So I didn't even think about its been acceptable or not when I started Aussie runs...........so i used it for both EA and DIBP with no itch (at least for now).

How far with EA, trust it's sorted now. Oga was going to text me the last time we spoke (line wasn't clear enough to hear him).

This thread aims at providing guide, instructions and genuine advice to prospective applicants for Australian permanent resident visa through the skilled migration program. For those looking to apply for study (student) visa, the link below will be more useful as it has enough information about applying to schools and Australian study visa. This new thread is specifically for permanent resident visa application.

Prospective students, follow this thread.. https://www.nairaland.com/2338380/general-australian-visa-enquiries-part

By way of introduction, Australia has a number of pathway to getting permanent resident status but the easiest is the skilled migration. Skilled migration, as the name implies means opportunity for both "academic skilled and technical skilled" people to migrate legally and permanently to Australia. The program was originally designed to address skill shortages in the country generally, so they came up with a system that attracts people who can meet the minimum requirements.

There are five visa subclass in the skilled migration pathway namely Subclass 189 (Independent), 190 (State sponsored), 489 (Regional/nominated provisional), 132 (Business Talent) and 188 (Business Innovation and investment, provisional). I will be talking strictly on the first three. See link for Australian Border Force's website for the skilled migration.. http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Skil

The three visa subclass, 189, 190 and 489 are for professionals, technologists, artisans and trade workers who can meet up to minimum of 60points for 189, 55points for 190 and 50 points for 489. I will explain how the points are calculated, occupation list and application in the subsequent posts.

For easy access, I have attached the following documents . There will not be need resending or asking if people do read.

1, Reference letter sample
2, Statutory declaration sample

OK sir.
Thanks for the prompt reply too
I just concluded my degree programme, and i want to further in Australia. Sir, i have read from the start but i still need to be certain on some issues.
1. I like working or planning with a budget, now that am starting the whole process from scratch, sir pls can you give me an estimate amount i can budget

2. Is it really possible to school and work in Australia and if i do, do you think the pay will be enough to see one through an M.SC programme?

3. How long sir do you think the whole process might take?

some of the questions might sound stupid compared to your knowledge of these things, but please sir, help as much as you can.
God bless.

@holysainbj,

Firstly, this thread is not for those seeking to further their studies but skilled and semi-skilled professionals who want to migrate permanently. Below is the link to the student visa thread.

https://www.nairaland.com/3786389/general-australian-student-visa-enquiries

1. I don't know your course of study, there is no way I can give you an informed advice without it. However, average tuition for postgraduate study is between $25k - $40k per year depending on the school and course.

2. Well, many people have done the same, studying and working. However, it is not going to be easy at all as you will have to work your butts off meeting the demands of school fees. The pressure will be high. It is doable but very stressful.

3. Which process? For student visa, from admission to visa grant should be about 3-8 months depending on schools, you and Australian embassy handling student visa.

Camscanner is not bad. I merely prefer conventional scanners cos I don't want a situation whereby there'll be any suspicion of image tampering.... A scan at 600dpi eliminates such doubts... In addition, this process is too important, expensive and delicate to compromise over a minor inconvenience like finding a scanner... Just my opinion though

Hello, Aussie Family.
I've been following this thread for weeks and although my journey is still incomplete, only now am I confident enough to share my timeline.

July 2015: Left Nigeria for the first time on a 2 day visit to Dubai and knew I, my family and my nation deserved a better life. Travelled again to the US in June 2016 and my decision to leave permanently became an obsession. After flirting with New Zealand, Australia became my ONLY logical choice.

IELTS GENERAL: July 22, 2015 - (L6.5,W7,R7,S7)
Skill Assessment for Graphic Designer lodged with Vetassess ($810AUD): Dec 13, 2016
Vetassess Positive Outcome: Feb 10, 2017 (but out of 8 years experience, I was only deemed skilled for 2.6 years)
IELTS GENERAL: April 8, 2017 - (L8.5,W7,R7.5,S8)
Vetassess Reassessment lodged ($450 AUD): April 20, 2017
Vetassess Reassessment Positive Outcome : May 31, 2017 (5.4 years which equals 10 points)
EOI Submission Subclass 190 NSW Stream 2: June 1, 2017 (60 points plus 5 state nomination points)
NSW Invitation to Apply Stream 2:?
NSW Nomination:?
DIBP Invitation to Apply:?
Medicals and Police Report for me, wife and child:?
VISA I90 Application:?
GRANT:?
DATE OF FIRST ENTRY: 2018?

Now I am in a mode of per second prayer.

@ disectur: well done thus far. Please do you fully understand the reason VETASSES during the first assessment, reduced your years of experience as much as they did? Funny enough, just in the following year having reassessed, about three years was added. How did they arrive at these variations?
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by disectur(m): 6:00pm On Jun 01, 2017
Yes, I do, the reasons are simple.
1. My bachelor degree although equal to an Australian standard was not considered highly relevant which is the main reason for the penalty in work experience.
2. I spent a large chunk om my career in Banking and due to the Bank grading system, my letters of employment showcased me as a "banker"
instead of a "bank worker". Although my job descriptions were well stated, to Vetassess, this documentation was inconsistent.
3. To resolve the issue, I had to get direct references from my Division Heads stating my actual job duties and clarifying that all Bank staff regardless of core function are addressed in official communication as ABO, SBO, AM etc
4. At the end of the day I've paid in time and money for that mistake but at least now my mind is at rest. I still lost over 2.6 years in valid work experience but it was well worth it.

Well, from your explanation, you seems very qualified for both occupation, but vetasses might not assess you on that job experience vis a vis your qualification, they must work hand in hand. But my bosses in this forum can suggest something else based on your job experience
