I think what should be banned is the religion section.

That's where most of the youths get the whacky idea that they will go to one imaginary mansion built somewhere in the sky when they die.

Lol.

This thread keeps tickling me.

Seun Foreign exchange trading is a legit business (sheee u don enter bank before? grin), Day-trading carries with it financial risks just like some other endeavor in life. It does not make it a gamble. Think about it again. It's your call eventually anyway.
Re: Banning Forex Trading And Sports Betting Promotion by 9japride(m): 4:09pm On May 03, 2016
Oga Seun I don't think the move is necessary and I believe it's legal. Those calling for d ban don't like the game it's a free world, while a lot of people like it. My point is leave it alone nobody point a gun at anyone to play the game. U can't please everyone at the same time just be neutral and many of those calling for the ban are worst than d players of bet game. Hypocrisy stinks

Oga Seun, this is a free world, allow betting and forex trade to thrive. You must not impose your opinion on others. Give a disclaimer not an outright ban on it. For goodness sake, this is a free world!

Dear Seun,

I think you have a long list of things to ban

1. Snake threads
2. Tiwa and Tbillz threads
3. Olosho threads
4. Tonto Dike threads
5. Ponzi Schemes

The list is endless. I believe we are adults here and can make rational decisions, so take note.

Seun,

You dont know what's next on this forum I swear. The things you are calling out are for adults and they can't cry to u when they lose or get scammed.

Think of other things to make this forum better instead of banning forex and betting.

This forum isn't for kids and ppl have the right to do anything that is better for them.

Seun after all said and done, why don't you create a thread where NLanders can vote on this
Let the vote be like this
****************************************
PICK ONE OPTION ONLY
A) I want Sport bet banned on NL

B) I suggest a forum should be created specially for sport betting & forex trading

C) I suggest Sport bet should be left alone but a warning sign should be shown boldy for all intending participants

Do this test and let the Voice speak. Run Nairaland in a Democratic manner! #remember, customers are the CEO of any business & so deserve gentle approach!

Seun, sports betting and FX trading has come to stay, banning it on NL won't change anything.

Just like smoking, people won't stop selling cigarette or smoking just because the health risk is high neither would people stop betting simply because the house always wins.

It's their money, you can't censor how, where or on what they spend it.

BTW Sport betting & FX trading are legitimate businesses.

Seun:
Dear Nairalanders,

We are thinking of completely banning the promotion of forex trading and sports betting on Nairaland.

Forex day-trading and sports betting are fundamentally fraudulent because they're promoted as a quick way of making money whereas due to mathematical facts, the only people who make money are the middlemen and marketers. The "investors" almost always lose their money.

In our experience, it's not enough to warn Nairaland members about the dangers of forex day-trading and sports betting. The promise of quick profit is just too much for thousands of vulnerable Nairaland members to resist. The only way to protect them is complete censorship.

We believe that the complete ban of such content will make Nairaland a better platform for discussing legitimate entrepreneurship and finance.

What do you think? Please click 'like' if you like the idea; thanks.

In as much as I hate sports betting and co, I think if you really want Nlanders to have their say it should be between like n share.. but I have this feeling that you have already made ur decision.
9z decision thou cos this betting shit is getting outta hand..

I'm not in support of the sport betting ban. I see no reason why you have to ban that because nairaland is not responsible for anybody's loss on it.

Good one Mr Seun.

Also consider limiting the number of nudity being celebrated on the homepage. I mean these cleavage threads everywhere. It's not what we should promote. I'm not saying ban it but we have to reduce the frequency of cleavage revealing threads on the homepage.

Such pictures affects the psyche of people. As we work towards a sexually responsible society, this regulatory aspects is very important. God bless.

Get-rich-quick is a vile urge,
Against the morality of hard work,
And against the notion of contentment.

Apart from the moral twists it engenders,
It also has bad psychological effects as it can often render a person highly-strung;
And we can tell the aftermath of the deviations.

Godliness and contentment is great gain, and, having food and raiment let us be therewith content.. For THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL" 1Tim. 6:6,8 &10.

FOREX trading has been around for a very long time and it`s legit. It`s the same trading as Bureau DE Change only that it is done online through a broker.lets assume someone bought 1000 units of dollar @ #197 official rate and resold it within a month @ #320 parallel market rate.he will make a ROI of 62% in less than a month.Even banks don't pay more than 10% ROI withing 12 months. This same person can also lose part of his investment if the new dollar rate falls below #197 withing a week.online Forex trading is the same as B DC only that it saves you the risk of buying and selling with physical cash, makes it easy to analyse the economy and also make good economy forecast through technical and fundamental analysis. The reason most online Forex traders fail is GREED and bad orientation.if you want to make 100% ROI in a week, you should also be willing to lose 100% of your investment in a week. But if you set a realistic target between 5-10% monthly then you are safe.even most professional traders don't average that much.
Forex is highly risky, but also profitable.i will advice you put a disclaimer and a warning on online Forex trading rather than banning it entirely.

Seun has always hated forex business and he does not hide his opinion, well in as much as you own this website, know that people come here for various reasons, I have been a forex trader for years and I have gained a lot from forex trade alerts thread, I have met seasoned traders that have impacted me. As for sports betting I don't do it, but I feel banning it would be a wrong move. Maybe you now have made too much money and you don't need any more traffic.

Oseun baba.... The truth remains that betting is not for everyone.

And gambling has not helped anyone(or so i thought).
I support the banning 100%.

Because people use it as an avenue to fraud others since they know not everyone is lucky in it.

The banning will draw a line to those fraudsters. Its welcomed.
